I have the Backbone and I'm happy with. There is one thing I'm disappointed with. Because of my Samsung S23 doesn't have extra micro sd slot, I use usb c adapter for micro sd car, where all my roms are. And that doesn't work when I plug this to my phone via the Backbone. I'm mad at Samsung and disappointed that the usb port in Backbone is only for power and not data.
I love it I just got the Razor keishi because I've been playing a lot of PSP games lately on my Android I have the Android version but all the emulators work great with the controller easy to map the buttons only thing I did like a little bit better about the original razor controller was its analog sticks they're more like the switch analog sticks now before they were like full gaming analog sticks that you find on PlayStation controllers it's not a big deal it still works fine just less travel and not as substantial feeling but the rest of the buttons are better in every way the whole design is better in every way it holds on to the phone better than the first one did the controls would fall off the phone a lot on the first version but the second version there's no such thing it holds the phone nice and tight the Android version looks more like a switch because Android phones are a little more Square looking that's the only thing I don't like about the iPhone version the iPhone's Corners are just too rounded like my Android phone actually looks like it's part of the controller but the iPhone looks like it's a phone attached to controllers
I don't understand why all reviewers of these gaming handhelds (yourself included) never mention the fact that these do not work if you have a case on your phone - a huge flaw in my book as 99% of people have their phones in a case!
The Kishi v1 doesn’t work at all with the iPhone 15. The Kishi software doesn’t see it in iOS. The Kishi v2 works but the software doesn’t see the controller in iOS. Spoke to Razer and they basically said they can’t help us or say anything at the moment. I am going to return both and get a backbone.
I'm never buying one of these expensive controllers again after getting the Bsp D8. That thing feels way better than the Backbone I wasted my money on. It has Hal sticks and triggers, it's way more ergonomic, and I don't notice any Bluetooth latency and it fits tablet and phablets with cases on for a little over $20. these controllers are such scams. 😂
I got one for android, but it feels unsatisfactory to say the least. The grip is average, the buttons are mouse like, and the sticks are worse than the switch joycons. The kishi V1 was way better, if not for the fact that my current phone doesn't fit it even without the case
Stay away from the Backbone one, it requires in app subscription to use the app and they don't let you reprogram the button. Also, the analogy sticks are poorly built and will start drifting after some light uses.
The buttons feel awkward like it was assembled by a child with sticky fingers It works for holding the phone but over longer durations it's just too heavy to hold your hands up with it; I wish they had Bluetooth cause it uses lightning which is on its way out Assuming we can use kishi for Android for iphone 16s in the future
While it is true that the backbone requires a sub for some additional features, bare in mind the kishi doesn’t have most of these features at all. Backbone with no sub is fairly similar to the kishi in terms of features
@Ghosttiee I very rarely use it since I bought it for the sole purpose of gaming on the go, but I would also like to try the Kishi V2 if they made an iPhone version. Edit: Woah hold up, looks like they have an iPhone version now. I’ll have to check it out when it goes on sale.
Can't make this up. I went to buy the backbone but they were sold out. Bought the kishi v2 instead. Loved it at first. Then it started bugging out after about 4 nice hours in Minecraft. Randomly starts pressing buttons, somehow force quit the game and goes into app info. I'm now fumbling the device trying to figure out what's going on. I go press clear cache, instead the kishi takes over and deletes the app with all data... There goes my nice little mansion.. Returned it and just got my money back. Gonna take a break from games for a minute.
Personally, I would rather buy an actual controller, and/or just have an old moded device so I could have quality games. I think most of us will agree that the DS, Gameboy, and PSP all had better games then what mobile does. However thank you very much for reviewing this! Edit: I do agree that it would be so much better if it collapsed all the way, otherwise it's just as easy to carry a gaming controller. Very niche market for that, and that's totally okay. More tech and innovation is always good.
I agree that depending what I'm doing, a Bluetooth controller is great. I use my PS5 controller all the time but when mobile, something that holds your phone is very helpful.
I have the original and it throw it in my back pocket. It works really good. If you don’t need the new macro buttons of the new controller then the old one works great
Actually why those controller must connect to lighting port.. the best way to connect should be bluetooth so that we don’t need to remove our case.. too bad they never thought of this, otherwise i would have bought the controller
The thing is while connect to lighting port is less lag ..for your button press.. while using Bluetooth it travels a few militriliseconds..and you are dead. In shooting games and you don't need to charge the controller...just plug and play
Why do so many people like clicky buttons? They are anoying to me. And you can't even use clicky buttons when your Partner is sleeeping in the same room.
There’s a different here that I think is important. There are “clicky” buttons that just have a satisfying “click” feeling when they’re pressed and then there are buttons that produce an audible “click” when you press them. I’m talking about the former. I totally agree about the noise! I can’t play next to my wife when she’s asleep!

I'm mad at Samsung and disappointed that the usb port in Backbone is only for power and not data.
Great Review! Thanks! Although I can see there's no way they can support a phone yet with a casing which most users have.
Gamevice Flex supports cases!
@Ghosttiee dunno, coz my friend has it and it gets wonky with the apple leather case. It disconnects for no reason at times
It’s not a big deal
Gamevice Flex works with cases!
Hi! Will Arena Breakout work?
Can I not just run the backbone app and use this controller??
Great Review! Thank you very Much
I still prefer backbone over kishi v2 mostly because of an app
The Kishi v1 doesn’t work at all with the iPhone 15. The Kishi software doesn’t see it in iOS. The Kishi v2 works but the software doesn’t see the controller in iOS. Spoke to Razer and they basically said they can’t help us or say anything at the moment. I am going to return both and get a backbone.
Just done that and it works awesome
V2
I have iPhone 14 pro max and it doesn’t fit the backbone even with the adapter. I’m afraid it won’t fit the Kishi either
What are the catch points when you connect it to the BBone?
@@TheTorqueAholic what does that mean?
Mine fits
I thought there was a hair on my screen but it's on your desk.

Kishi v1 better hall joysticks. Worth mentioning.
Stay away from the Backbone one, it requires in app subscription to use the app and they don't let you reprogram the button. Also, the analogy sticks are poorly built and will start drifting after some light uses.
would this fit 14 pro max ????
One thing both of these the backbone and razer you can’t use a case you have to take it out of you buy the razer v1 you might fit the case in
Yeah but now that iPhone 15 Pro Max had a USB type C port, what’s my option? Can I just buy the Android Kishi and call it a day?
Why do people like micro switches for controllers...
The buttons feel awkward like it was assembled by a child with sticky fingers
It works for holding the phone but over longer durations it's just too heavy to hold your hands up with it; I wish they had Bluetooth cause it uses lightning which is on its way out
Assuming we can use kishi for Android for iphone 16s in the future
Chas anyone tried to fit an iphone with a case on it?
Can you use the USB-C version with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and can you still have a case on your phone while using it?
Need a iPad Mini model.
Got this for emulation
How is it?
While it is true that the backbone requires a sub for some additional features, bare in mind the kishi doesn’t have most of these features at all. Backbone with no sub is fairly similar to the kishi in terms of features
Those thumb sticks look like switch style…might as well get the V1 Kishi used real thumb sticks
Retroarch ???
I really wish these would fully collapse to make them more pocketable.
Yo thanks for saving my little brother from an unintentional yearly 50$ sub
I don’t like how Razer basically just copied the Backbone One design.
@Ghosttiee I don’t have the Kishi but I got the Backbone and it is very good indeed!
😂
If you don’t need the new macro buttons of the new controller then the old one works great
Didn’t share enough info about gaming etc.
Data transmission issue
Why do so many people like clicky buttons? They are anoying to me. And you can't even use clicky buttons when your Partner is sleeeping in the same room.
There’s a different here that I think is important. There are “clicky” buttons that just have a satisfying “click” feeling when they’re pressed and then there are buttons that produce an audible “click” when you press them. I’m talking about the former. I totally agree about the noise! I can’t play next to my wife when she’s asleep!
Is it worth DOUBLING the price for though?
No.
Not as aesthetically pleasing as the backbone. I hate ugly gaming tech. Like, just make it look sleek and modern.
