Yeah it’s a very important part of electronic DJing as some tracks may have a very short outro and that loop allows to naturally bring that next track in smoothly .....most tracks to mix in properly need at least 90 seconds for that next transition if not......loop it
a true entertainer you are, sir! Truly enjoy your content. I'm new to the mixing world and have learned alot from what you have to offer. Cheers, mate!
DUDE!!! Your video is GENIUS!! I’ve been searching for a hands on basic video to learn from! I got the DDJSX2 controller been so much trying to learn how to loop... I’m going to practice what your showing! Thanks sooo much! Can’t tell you how much this means to me biddy! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, why i can't loop shorter then 4 or 2 (i don't remeber now) on Serato Lite. I can't do this like you did in 6:58... how to resolve my problem? Please HELP! :)
hi i have the pro version and this can only be done in pro and i asked my friend he has the Serato Lite in setting lite does not have the settings as pro has just upgrade it will unlock the settings and give you the ex buttons
its not the bpm changing its just a poorly analyzed track and the grid needs be manually adjust if you're using auto loop or if your manually looping you need to work on your timing.
I don't understand why all songs have the same structure? (Intro, breakdown, build up, outro.) And why is it that all songs are organised in bars of four beats ? Is there an arrangement between all music producers to follow this structure or is using an other structure not done or not possible to create ? I am not sure I'm explaining well what I mean. :)
Well what we normally listen to is on a tempo of 4/4, of course it depends on the genre as well (there are some blues and jazz in 3/3 etc. etc.) and you can always check music written in odd tempos like 7/8; 3/4... The thing is these type of music are sometimes difficult to keep up when dancing, and EDM or other popular genres are meant to dance so its common to use a tempo that works for it. The structure thing its just very common but not a strict rule (there are some songs with 7 minutes of guitar solos that just keep growing and building up but then the song ends with no "outro" xD). Hope its not to late for my comment haha.
Phil Harris!! Nice video. While I am not a beginner, I did learn something. I've always just done "sock hop" style DJing. Play a song, get to the next one with no dead air, no dancers standing around going "well, what's he gonna play?" I knew about the 2nd technique (at least the part where you mess with the loop length) but I never really quite got the second part of that example where you use it to transition cleanly to the next track. NICE. Yes, if an old dog wants to learn, you can teach him a new trick!
I think you already know, but you can press the in and keep holding it for an auto loop of 4 bars, alternatively you could map the autoloop in the pads you don't use that much.
Suggestions: I am a noob at DJying but even I could tell that you were offbeat during the transition. Also a little more "knob" details would have been helpful.

There's an unspoken rule of arts: if you screwed up but the public didn't notice, it's not a screwup. Our job as artists is to do everything with a purpose, even making mistakes.
hey, your looping and counting is not really on point. you are looping not at the 1 from the 1, 2, 3, 4. So the loop what u get, when its not on the 1 is really weird and not natural. And the left song (3:53) is also not looped at the 1. Then you beatmatch the right song, and again, your are not starting it at the 1. So what you get now is that the 2 songs are not well mixed together and also put the low freq out on the track u bring in not the track thats already up. i cant really explain this well so i think im making a video on how to PROPER beatmatch and loop. No offence, just how to do it right.
Feel110 Even tho the first loop doesn’t start on the 1, it still is a perfect loop as it has a “groove”. If you hear the downbeats, they’re still in time with each other. Second, the beat he mixes in next sounded ight to me. I’d recommend you listen to this older techno DJ named Richie Hawtin, he plays with 4 tracks and they’re looped all over the place but it’s the “groove” that matters. There’s a million DJs who can be “technically right” but it’s the “groove” that’s special. Peace and looking forward to seeing all of you perform at Wonderland and EDC
@@cyrusjulian187 thats not how it works. If you want a good mix and beatmatch you need to count to 32 over and over. If you have practiced it goes automatically. Its important because if when you play live the crowd expects when certain points come in a track. If you have a build up and the 32 beats from an autro and the 32 beats section is over and the build up is not finished ot doesnt work together. It is just hard to explain. Watch mrbelt and wezol dj tutorial It becomes clear to everyone. Thats real djing. Im a dj too in some local clubs. So i have experience.
Avicii was a Composer/Producer. He was not a real "DJ." He had to fake DJ'ing on stage because he was basically forced to by his manager, Arash, who was money hungry. Avicii was paid to put on a phenomenal show for the promoters and most importantly, his fans. Avicii used tracks of his own, as well as picking other tracks from other Artist's and composed all tracks into 1 full composition. Whether or not if he was in a club or festival, he would pre-record his sets for every show. Remember, Avicii wanted to entertain, not DJ.

DJ Phill Harris is the best! I loved this lesson!

Thanks good explanation for as a beginner :) hello from Germany
Thx for your tutorial 🎉
loved the filter up at the same time.
Can you make an example with Reggaeton music? Please
I'm confused on how many bars to loop a song when beat matching. Do I loop 4, 8, 16, or 32 bars?
That one was of the first things I learned when I got my controller so I loved it but this is a better way to use it!!!!
Hi, what do you mean around 8:20 when you say "filtering up" ?
Does it mean takin away the highs or the lows ? Thanks.
He turned the knob 'up' clockwise, which engages the high-pass filter, which removes the lows.
the sound effect u made from ur mouth is the best part of the whole video LOL
XƎN i laughed pretty loud when he said we will be discussing “looping looping looping”
How do I shorten the bar on a hercules inpulse 300?
What is the name of the song on left deck...cant read it :) thx
Great videos mate. You sound so irish at times.

Can someone explain me why would I play loops? What are the advantages? Isn't that too much repetitive, and won't the "listeners" be annoyed?
anyone know the house songs hes using to demonstrate the technique?
how come when i loop a song the bpm changes some times .
its not the bpm changing its just a poorly analyzed track and the grid needs be manually adjust if you're using auto loop or if your manually looping you need to work on your timing.
Why can't i loop Backwards
Phil got the musical tongue

Juanito G. Its so that it’s easier for DJs to mix!

Hey i am a begginer and i own a ddj rb and has no auto loop what can i do
I think you either have to do it manually with the 'IN' 'OUT' buttons, or click loop on your software
I think you already know, but you can press the in and keep holding it for an auto loop of 4 bars, alternatively you could map the autoloop in the pads you don't use that much.
I have to say that was pretty cool
Best tutorial of looping ever ;) very clear explanation 🤙
Awesome video bro. Thx for the tips. Can u explain the parameter button a little more. Thx so much
Thanks mate! :)

This is not true, his sets were not pre-recorded and he wasn't "faking" it
