Black Friday Sale now live: www.clubreadydjschool.com/club-ready-dj-course/ I'm so proud to say I've added so much new content to my courses - I have been devoting so much love and energy to it these past few months, hopefully you like :)
I like to use Loop In and Out so people get familiarized with the incomming track and to make more progressive and longer mixs. Sometimes doing some sort of Callback like comedians do in stand up comedy and make some sort of dejavu moment on the dance floor.
Andrew, just wanted to let you know I bought your course a few weeks ago and am already doing 1hr+ mixes! I'm getting the transitions right about 2/3rds of the time so obviously not perfect but so much better than I thought I'd be doing so soon. Thanks for doing such a good job on the content in the course!
I use beatjump to do this same thing, without looping. So looping is a great way to achieve the the same long blend mashup style of transitioning without beatjump
Alright after watching you chop up that dnb... it's time to join your online DJ school! Thank you for sharing such amazing kowledge/experience with us!
The biggest thing I learned from this video is how to smile and be enthusiastic about something I’ve done thousands of time over the past 20 years 😁 Love it, mate
Dude I absolutely love your interest in a huge variety of genres. And it's not a "I have to listen to everything to be good at my job. " It's a legitimate enjoyment and passion for every genre you play. Pretty rare I hear dj's so willing to just drop some drum and bass that aren't heavily imbedded in the scene. Thanks for dropping that knowledge as usual. Always find myself excited when I see you've uploaded a new video, even if I already have a pretty good understanding of the subject. Keep being you.
I like doing this with house tracks that have a vocal that starts too soon for my liking - it lets me make a longer, more subtle transition without rushing to get the old song out before the vocal hits. You can also combine incoming and outgoing loops. Loop the incoming one until there’s a break in the vocal of the outgoing track. Then loop that one and release the loop on incoming so it continues
I fell in love with jungle and drum and bass over lockdown and am learning to dj, thank God for RUclips! So much to learn and new challenges, didn't know how much there is to it!
Yes we would love a video on chopping. And i use looping almost in every song i mix, it gives u more power and u can control the time so u never slip a beat. Great video as always.
Thanks for this video Andrew!!! This is a great addition to the awesome info in your course! Looping in is so key, thanks for your wisdom as always. Love it mate, nothing like connecting with the music. Big love. The course is a Game. Changer. thankful for you brotha.
I just want to say that I have found you're video super beneficial..I am new to djing " Bedroom Dj"..Been in the club scene since my late teens and I'm now 44..Love all you're vid completely hooked ...thank you take care
I agree, looping is a great way to introduce tracks. I set several cue-points per track and always use one of them to mix in or out. I hardly ever use the play/pause button unless I want to stutter or brake. Excellent video!
Hahah.. I was kind of waiting for this one to show up, "looping" tracks in and out, is essentially the golden egg of mixing! It makes the mixes sound simply, Beautiful and Fluent :)
Haha - I have bad moments but generally speaking I try to keep my focus on the good in my life - you should watch my video about being successful as a DJ - fake it till you make it - I talk about stuff that's true to my heart - creating - positive thinking - I love that stuff :)
This is a great technique especially for House/Techno/Trance DJs. But the key is that whole release part ;). You can't get distracted which is easy to do during a mix, where your busy with get the levels and EQs right. What I mostly like is when the incoming track surprises the listener when a phrase takes over the outgoing track. This also allows you to drop in tracks with melodies or vocals only without beats. Other techniques you drop in buildup first or the outro of the incoming song and then mix in the beginning.
Mate you smash it every time if people took your course they would get a lot more I took your course 6 months ago and its a must and what you did there is exactly the way I mix it’s all about control especially for me when I don’t set queues🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
I just saw your other vid where you already confirmed the Chopping video lesson, but here's another vote anyway! After seeing you playing around with it, I've had some fun myself and I must say, boy is that fun! I loved chopping Crowd Control by Fisher and Speakerphone by Biscits together :D
I naturally did this and still do when on my controller but my instructor found this odd and discouraged me from doing it, which I do when preparing for a club gig on a CDJ. In short, do you!
I love doing it and personally found when doing this live people always responded really well. However make sure you couple it with high pass filter otherwise it can a little intense.
@@ClubReadyDJSchool On the CDJ, if you press the 4 beat loop button once you load a song (before pressing play) will it set at the first four beats of the song? Also, can you press the 4 beat loop button to end the loop or you must press the loop exit button?
I feel phrasing needs to be conditioned - check out my fundamentals course - I guarantee it'll get you where you need to be fast: www.clubreadydjschool.com/courses/club-ready-dj-course/
I did more research on the Club Mixer vs the 1000SRT. Seems Pioneer didn’t use an actual EQ Isolator on the SRT like the DJM series. It’s a bit of a draw back but it works ok. I’d rather have the full EQ Isolation. Hopefully the DDJ XDJ XZ is ironed out when it’s time to upgrade.
@@adammander7108 I have no idea. If anything look on the Pioneer DJ website or in your PDF manual. The EQ Isolation function is a hardware setting ( mechanical switch ) on the Pioneer DJ DJM Club Gear series mixers like what Andrew uses.
hello, love your chanel... very in depth alot of work put in... do you have any interest in hardgroove and would you do a vid on that? keep up the great work =)
Hey mate just in case you come across this comment, I'm having trouble mixing songs that are drastically different in bpm. I know they'll work well together but I was wondering if you had any tips for that sort of shift. Hope you can let me know man much love.
You can loop the incoming track and use sync to mix the two and then speed up or slow to the second tracks original bpm. Try not to drag this out too long or with a mix that’s too busy or it will sound trashy and muddy. You can use your eq’s to mitigate this but only to an extent, and you only have one hand to work with since you’re adjusting bpm simultaneously. Good luck.
hey coach well now that your button is going I guess you have an excuse to go ahead and buy a few cdj3000's and sell those ones to some locals for a fair price eh?

Yes, please do a video on chopping. I’ve always wanted to incorporate that in my mixes.
Yes, I would like to see it, too!
I'm a slower house dj, and I do this all the time, layering tracks to add more and then bringing in the next song
I'd love to see a video on transitioning between tracks which are different tempos/styles.
Echo + Low Filter on both tracks on the bridge fade out the main tune while bringing up the filter and echo on the new track :)
I love your enthusiasm when you do this kind of stuff. It’s absolutely infectious

Claude Gray what's the bpm difference?
If both songs have a break to mix into that can sometimes work. Or find a premade bpm transition track. Record pools usually have them
100% this video is on my to do but there are already a few in queue.
