Thanks Joshua! As a first foray into digital, I was stoked that it works on my Eachine EV200D goggles. It's not a top of the line goggle but does have an HDMI port so I was relieved that there was very little fuss hooking it up. Thanks also for the tip on the lower profile HDMI cable. As well, I have right angle barrel connectors on the power cable, that also cleans up the look.
Oh JB, I can kiss you for being one of the first reputable FPV reviewers to test this system, cause I've been eagerly waiting for this. Firstly it should be noted that Chris Rosser did latency testing of the WalkSnail goggles and got better numbers, because his tests used a 960FPS highspeed cam, whereas your 240FPS GoPro can be off by up to 4ms. IMO, these tests prove that the HDMI/display refresh rate (which adds about 16.7ms of frame latency @60Hz) is not as significant as the HD encoding/decoding latency. After all, the HDZero VRX achieves an average 20 ms latency when paired with same 60 Hz HDMI/display goggles. So I highly doubt that using this VRX on the HDZero goggles with its 100 Hz refresh rate would make more than a 6.7ms latency improvement. It's also worth noting that Chris Rosser also found the latency WalkSnail reports wasn't wrong, but rather the extra latency came from the way the goggle display updates, i.e. one scan line at a time, which introduces anywhere up to 1 frame (16.7ms@60Hz or 10Hz@100Hz) of latency depending on where your LED is located.
Thanks for the review, fantastic as usual.
Got my preorder over the weekend but haven’t fiddled with it yet. Glad to see this review to better understand what to expect!
same, now i have the issue of trying to fit it in my quads and its basically too thick to fit in any of my stacks unless i zip tie it. I actually cant even fit it in my racing quad.
It's possible to attach Walksnail VRX onto HDO2's (Sharkbyte) bracket. All you need is to remote little screw at the back of the Walksnail unit (the one in the top middle) and then once you remove a piece of bracket plastic, screw it in using (Sharkbyte) screw then attach Walksnail device (at max angle) and put the little screw back in and...job done, perfectly attached without any tapes, same as FatShark VRX :) Good luck FPV friends!
This is a top tip! Works for the HDZero VRX bracket (not sure if that's different to the older Sharkbyte bracket, but just adding for anyone else who might be reading :) )
It's a good system for a good price. Ideal for those who continue to use the analog system but want to have a digital drone for some types of flights.
Fantastic testing and explanations!
Would love to see further tests comparing O3, hdzero and walk sail regarding features, video quality, screen quality, and latency with all goggles (and walksnail vtx on hdzero goggles as well as using the avatar goggles). 💚
Fantastic flying and review, Joshua! 😃
I hope your HDZero goggles arrive soon and you do the testing again! (Oh, you will! I just got to that point!)
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
He showed the HDZ goggles in his hands during the News this week. And now everyone will be mad that a WS review came out while we know he has the HDZ goggles 😛.
Got the shipping notification for this a week ago from the $200 preorder with the 1S camera. VERY excited. Will be pairing with the HDZero goggles.
This VRX is a step in the right direction, but I doubt its commercial success after seing so many cables hanging from your head, especially now that HDZero googles are out. Thinking about DJI: If any digital system wants my money, they will have to support analog also. There is no way I throw out all my analog quads, or that I have to play with 2 different googles.
2 different goggles is the way.
Same thing if you want to run analog VRX on DJI v1/v2 googles. Otherwise this is a way how to get Walksnail support when you have good analog googles with HDMI input and are not so picky to slight latency. Pity that Walksnail googles and VTX-es wasn't available at last autumn - I would bought them instead of DJI googles.
I start FPV now again (I flew 2020 with HDO) and for me the one and only is analog at the moment, because I like the "open" system. HDZero is to expensive and the VTX is really big. But I am thinking about to build a DJI Quad too. Then I will use analog for fun, freestyle and Tiny Whoops and the Digital System for great shots of landscape, etc...
@@owensspace No, it's not. We can sell those analog goggles and they help pay for the digital ones! In the case of the V2 DJI goggles, more good analog goggles will sell for within a 100 - 200 bucks or so of the $429 price of the V2's! Some of us don't have the money tree growing in our backyard!
if only the goggles 2 supported the mavic 3 i would be getting those as a second set of goggles. DJi just is too expensive to try and put it on everything and you cant really use it on small quads. why cant companies just make what people want? i suppose HD zero is doing the best they can at this.
I just got mine today!!! Probably won’t try it till spring I’m looking forward to your testing on the Cobra X V2 if you get a set.
Awesome Awesome Awesome stuff! I'm still learning stuff today😁 and I STAND BEHIND MY WANTING THE HDZERO GOGGLES SINCE THEIR ANNOUNCEMENT way back when!👍🏽they will be my first hd gogs/analog/whatever I want them to be😁.....I dont race but why wouldn't I want the most versatile gogs out!!!!! I can't wait for your review on em JB✌🏽
More and more, I'm glad I waited on ordering goggles till I got a set of HDZero on the way and pre-ordered one of these Walksnail Vrx to use as well. Looking forward to getting back in the sky and in HD :)
Thank you for this Video! I Appreciate you!
Years out from flying personally, everything has changed. Still love ya JB. Thank ya for all you do! Watching ya makes me wanna fly again. Maybe it's time to fix all the broken quads and mess with betaflight again. Keep going bro
Calvin- things have really ch, I have been following and trying to keep up, can’t.
Note on the Sharkbyte/HDZero bracket: it doesn't work on the HDO2s, but it works with the likes of Skyzone Sky04X. The reason probably being, that the bracket for the original Sharkbyte RX was designed so that the VRX sits pretty flush on the HDO2s. On the Sky04Xs the very same bracket leaves a gap between RX and goggles. This is enough space to that you can mount the walksnail VRX with that bracket.
I’ve been getting into Fixed Wing fpv and this would be great for a digital ground station as an alternative to goggles.
Yup, same. These are going to be real popular with the Inav crowd
Thank you Joshua! Looking forward to watching the HDZero review next. Hoping you'll make a digital roundup after that, so we can see image and latency comparisons for all the new systems in one place. I really want to see DJI vs Walksnail vs HDZero. Ive been loving 03 for everything but low light (seems more consistent frame rate than vista), goes further on the same amount of rf, but sucks in the dark...not to mention the weight savings from losing the action 2 and gopro for freestyle (I still fly a heavy gopro for 107 gigs)
That new update DJI came out with a few days ago pretty much fixes most of the low light issues with 03. RCSchim adjusted the EV up 0.7 and it really made a huge difference - pretty much fixed it completely. Watch his latest video...and do the update. :)
@@KOrnhOliO1 ive done the update. Just havent seen a dramatic difference yet
Something I would have loved to see here is what's the equivalent analog latency, just as a comparison. I really love how in-depth you went there.
Thanks for your experiment, Josh. No differance latency with Avatar goggle is meaning quite lots of possibilities. Even you could fly with that more higher latency performed, Orqa goggle. Expecting results with other subbies.
Outstanding show ! All I own is cobra x and a dock-kink . The DK has a HDMI port , different kind looking plug though , Hmm. I'm just a old man cruiser so latency I don't mind. I may pull the trigger on this.
I have dji on quads now and also use analog on my planes(range and osd options). I got this for my planes because I can easily put it on ground station. Something that is paint with dji if you also use headtracker
Cant wait for mine to arrive, i got a set of FXT Vipers that this VTX should fit nicely. Although i for sure will drag my television out on the porch and fly that way too. Just gotta find some 220v mains adapter for them, so i dont have to use batteries.
Good video. Great info .
I've been using the VRX now for 2 days after flying analog for 2 years. I have NOT been poorly impacted by any latency. It is there but easily workable. I love the clarity and range. Using on Skyzone 03O
Does it display full 4:3...or any letters boxing??...how is the image quality??
@@dcvshambhuthat's the only issue. My goggles are 4:3 and the VRX does try and make it work but there is a bit of fisheye. I'm just gonna force myself to get used to it. Hopefully they will release a 4:3 camera. The image quality is still amazing and I'm hooked
When I get around to this I'll be running it with my fxt vipers which I will hope should work fine
at this point the hd zero goggles sound like the ones to role with. They can do walksnail, analog, and HD zero all in one goggle. I currently run caddx vista with the dji goggles so if I bought the HD zero goggles it opens me up to all other systems out.
I have this VRX on my old 10 inch Monitor...for my FW flying stuff. Looks really good TBH. I also have the Walksnail Goggles for my quad fleet . Cobra's for analogue rigs and 1.2g...🤔😳😏🇬🇧
Good morning Joshua, I really liked the video and I'm in the process of setting up my Orqa One with the vRX. Currently I only have the original antennas here, but I will purchase better antennas (via your links). The question would be whether you can expect another video on how we can exchange the patch antennas for better ones and whether it makes sense to exchange the antennas on the transmitter and whether you also have any ideas there that are suitable for this?
Thank you very much for your fantastic videos!
Best regards from Germany
Great video 👍 I pre-ordered the Caddx Avatar VRX before Christmas but haven't had a chance to build my 3.5" quad that it's going to be going in. I also have some Eachine EV300o goggles. Other than the screens (and FOV) are meant to be the same as the SkyZone 04x. Could you possibly source a pair of these for testing alongside the others you get?
I’ve had mine for almost a week. I’m using with hdo1 and I’m pretty happy. This is my first entry to digital and the video quality is amazing. Latency hasn’t been noticeable/an issue although I do get occasional stuttering and it’s very annoying. I used a 3d printed mount, but my fan standoffs broke and then my printed mount broke. So I just used double sided tape and imo it’s better and more solid so I don’t plan to pursue more mounts.
I was curious if it worked and made a difference on the HDOs. It's my only goggle and purchased weeks before dji dropped their first set. Been kinda jaded on them ever since.
Something from my own useless expertise for a reverse “you’re going to learn something today” To stop excel being helpful with sequential numbering hold ctrl while dragging.
Great review as always, especially the interesting section on latency!
FYI HDZero goggles have introduced support for 720p100 mode from the WS VRX. As far as I know, they are the only goggles that support this on HDMI input.
I use the same mounting for my walksnail vrx as I do my Hdzero vrx. It’s a Tpu 3D print for the skyzone 04x
Also the Hdzero goggles are being updated (are updated?) to support the high frame rate from walksnail (edit: you did eventually mention this point. Nice 👍)
Also, the Hdzero hdmi cable does not work with the skyzone 04x. The way the port on the walksnail vrx is forces the right angle to go the wrong way and makes the hdmi cable too short to use on the skyzone 04x
The latency that limits me most is from my paycheck to my hobby, and in second place is from my eyes to my reflexes! I decided to save my lunch money (literally) and buy this system because my response times are such that I can't push the system that I have (analog) anywhere near its limits, and I want to eliminate the snowy breakup that analog does to me in order to eliminate the weight of my GoPro. That way I can fly under 250g yet still record something of higher quality. If HDZero had eliminated 'snow' and gone the pixilation route in their firmware, I would have gone that route instead. No matter which route I went, it was a gamble, so I just reasoned it out according to my specific wants.
OMG!!!!!!! THE HDO 2 GOGGLES YOU HAVE IN THIS VIDEO ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE COLOR!!!!!!BLUE!!!!!! i WANT THEM SO SO BAD LOL.....LOVE YA BUDDY JUST JOKING BUT i BET YOU SMILING RIGHT NOW LOL....Thanks for the video its awesome like always
system looks great - I think the uncelebrated benefits going to one of the new hd systems is ending the hassel of debugging your analogue vtx install - i may have been jinxed but i always have trouble with noisy vtx in my analogue builds (yes i use caps)
Hey, great video! I'm intrigued - will this setup (Walksnail VRX + Accsoon Seemo + iPhone) actually work? Could you share more about the connection, battery life, HDMI quality, etc.? If it pans out, it could indeed be the ideal minimal setup for those without goggles.
What happened to that cool ass retro esk intro thing you used to do maine?! I loved that intro!
The best thing about this is that people that get motion sickness like me can fly it with a tablet. Finally!
You can do that with hdzero too
Latency it's a huge contributor to motion sickness so I wouldn't be too confident about that, sorry.
sit down and use analogue or hdzero.
Yeah you’re gonna struggle to use a proper tablet like an iPad or android, but get a 7” HDMI monitor and you’re good to go. Just make sure you have a shade for sunlight etc etc…
@@eatyourvegfpv I can fly sim practice runs on a pc screen, but not with a headset. I think for me it's about having enough stationary objects in my field of vision. I will keep latency in mind when buying a tablet/screen. Thanks
I use this vrx on my old fatshark HD2 from 2018, a big step up in quality compared to the hdZero vrx, awesome! and didn't feel the latency thing. Don't regret at all
Thank you for saying this! I'm stoked to hear it!
What effects did it do screen wise? Is it comparable to plugging them Into the computer fpr a sim?
Want to know which RX/digital video ecosystem to go with for my Cobra X goggles, either Walksnail or HDZero. I'm leaning heavy to HDZero but I cant wait to see what you discover.
Hi Joshua!
HDO2 shows a clean 16:9 image when VRX is set to 720p. The goggle does no scaling or distortion on a HDO2 for the hdmi input. ;-)
The image is crisp and sharp!
As others already commented the HDZero Bracket can be used by opening the little screw on the backside of the walksnail vrx.
What does it mean to turn off scaling and where is it? Can you get 4:3 in HDO2's? Thanks
@@tstepien HDO2 accepts only16:9 1280x720 input. That cannot be changed but there is no deformation, no cropping at all with 16:9 signals as it comes from walksnail VRX. Just black bars abouth and below the image.
I have to revise my comment, nothing can be changed with walksnail VRX.
Hdzero VTX can be set to send a cropped image to the goggle as i know but I never used it.
@RonaldHabermann any issues with hdmi input? I've read people had them fail and had to replace. Trying to find out if it's a regular thing. I toomhave hd02s and want walksnail.
I have a set of the OG Orqas as my standard analog goggles. I considered the add-on VRX as they'd be mostly compatible but in the end decided to just get the Walksnail goggles. Looking at the cable-clutter demonstrated here just about justifies the extra cost. I like being able to just pull my goggles out of their bag, power up and go fly... no fiddling with brackets or cables etc.
I also considered the HDZero goggles but was in the end was unimpressed by their image quality. I'm not a hardcore racer of freestyle pilot so their super-low latency wasn't a major selling point. My whole reason for adding HD was centered around getting the best image possible without giving DJI any of my money :)
So i assume your just going to keep your original goggles and just use the orqa for analog?
@@MachuPichuu Precisely.
I have the VRX and tested it with the Skyzone SkyO4X. The latency was not flyable for me . But i sold the googles for the hdzero Googles.
I got a pair of the regular first version HDOs, I'd love to see how these work with those.
Just got my VRX kit with the Micro cam. Gonna pop this VRX on my SZ o4x's and see whats up.
As a owner of SkyZone 03O's with no module bay, I almost bought this on preorder. I hesitated wanting to see if the system was actually going to catch on, because I cant afford to take chances. If this system can be used to race with, I would be more inclined to purchase it (for whoops)
I just got one of these and the omni antennas look a bit different from the ones that come on the Avatar goggles. Not sure if they improved them at all but the dimensions and lack of logo do indicate some changes.
Waiting on my pre order placed mid November
Not sure if you’re looking for a latency measuring upgrade, but the Sony rx100’s support 1000 frames per second (looping buffer but still).
Also, the latency here seems comparable to the old Runcam Split cameras which were flyable if maybe not enjoyable. At least that was my experience
Thanks for the video. But the latency measured on the Dominator HD is in 60fps right? It would go lower in 100fps, I guess...
Thanks for the video! I would love to see these on the Skyzone O2C/O2X goggles. They do have mini hdmi in. I was planning on swapping over to walksnail but now worried about the screen size. On the topic of HDzero. For me its what happens when the signal gets low and all that nasty looking static starts coming. Never seen that on the walksnail.
You runnning on 02x? It okay?
Hay Joshua I'm really keen to buy one of these to give hd a go really but after watching video I don't know if my goggles will be compatible, I have fatshark HDO with HDMI input etc but it only has a resolution of 960 x 720😢 what are your thoughts will it squash the image too much or just not even worth trying?
Where did you get that fight Club shirt? The bit I can see looks great.
Hi Joshua, is there a link for the fatshark hdo2 fan mount for attaching to the Walksnail Avatar vrx?
Very good module.
@Joshua Bardwell Is it possible to connect the VRX to android tablets/phones? Thanks.
For the best possible WalkSnail experience, choose HDZero. Heh, you can't beat the irony. You even get better DC and HDMI cables from the HDZ VRX.
Definitely need to test this with HDZERO goggles in 100hz.
Will the Walksnail VRX display on my cheap Skyzone Cobra SD it has a HDMI in socket & screen is 800 x 480 ( 720p) as it would be a great upgrade???
Good afternoon. Please tell me, I'm not good at this. VRX X1 this thing takes a digital signal and converts it to analog, or I'm wrong.
Great review, JB
I was hyped in November, too, but decided not to get on the bandwagon. I am still debating if it was a good decision or not.
I have the EV800D box goggles and fly sub 3" drones, which are analog. It would be great to convert them into a proper HD system (which Walksnail would be perfect for), BUT I don't have a proper way of using the VRx to fly FPV (don't want to connect to my 65" TV to take tothe field ;) )
I would have hoped the Walksnail goggles (box and avatar) would have the same feature set as the HD zero goggle. That would have been an easier pick on converting drones, but still be able to fly older and other systems.
Maybe this year will bring some more interesting stuff 🤔 🙂
That's one reason, besides best image clarity, etc....why I went with the DJI V2 goggles. At $429 with good antennas and a battery is impossible to beat. They do AWESOME analog, with URUAV V3 adapter and V3 metal case (both are super cheap too and work great!). Take it on and off in 3 seconds! But, still solid as a rock.
I really like this set up, and the image clarity, penetration, range with a clear picture, durability, and reliability is TOP OF CLASS! 😎🤘 The 03 air unit and camera pushed it way over the top! Nothing is remotely close! Imagine... you can pop an 03 air unit into any drone you have that it will fit into, or mod it to fit with a 3D printer, and you can record 4K / 120FPS crystal clear HD DVR video from your favorite drone! 🤘
I have Skyzone O20 gogles. They have HDMI input, but those have 640x480 displays. Could can this VRX be used with those goggles?
Do you have any information on if the eachine Ev300O with only 1020x720. Not been able to find out what refresh rate for screens are? What would 720p look like?
I got one. Have not installed it yet. Hope it's good with the O4X. If it sucks I'm afraid I will buy the hdzero goggles and sell the skyzone pair.
Hello Joshua, can you give me a link to the foam you're using on your orqa goggles! Thanks!
Can't wait for the HDZero goggles test
Finally! Still haven’t got my VRX though sadly
As always, great video and analysis. I've spent a lot of my career working on video latency and I'd love to chat with you about it.
*This applies to digital video only*. I suspect what they're measuring the timestamp delta between when the frame was displayed (DTS) versus when the frame was encoded at. While that is a great estimate of the scale of the latency (i.e. larger numbers are bad), it can never properly represent the full visual system latency.
Every part of the system works at a different "speed" and synchronizing them or even quantifying them is very difficult. The CCD on the camera has a rate (unknown to the VTX), the transmission to the VTX is at a rate, encoding to H.265 (which I think is what they use) has a rate and to save bandwidth is sometimes dependent on future frames (adding pure latency). Next you add that stream to a transport container (probably MPEG-2 TS) so it can be packetized and transmitted, again at a rate.
On the receiving side you have to peel open the container, decode the video, and then in this case, transmit it via HDMI to then display it.
The only part they can realistically measure is the latency between encoding and when the frame is ready-- Which I believe is what they advertise based on your testing.
Analog beats digital every day of the week for latency, but digital can do so much more. ~30 ms latency on H.265 via MPEG-2 TS isn't easy and ~10 ms more for HDMI conversion is also pretty solid.
And the bitrate you'll see will be fixed, it's called "constant bitrate". Basically that means the encoder is going to do whatever it can to never exceed that-- it will silently kill quality in order to obey that. The other option of that is "variable bitrate" which is awesome if you can assure you'll have a good connection.
In your flight testing at 25 Mbit I could see H.265 artifacts. Raising the bandwidth may fix that, but it'll also make it go to hell way faster if your signal strength lowers.
Thanks for the great review and especially the latency measurement. For those who are interested in using the VRX module on box goggles there's an additional problem for box goggles in particular: Most (all?) box goggles use screens designed for mobile phones which are therefore native portrait mode displays. To show the (landscape) video feed on the screen it has to be rotated by 90°. This step adds additional latency. I have learned that since my last comment on Joshua's last Walksnail VRX Video.
I have measured the latency in the same way as Joshua for my Skyzone Cobra X V2 with the Walksnail VRX an got 71 ms / 83 ms (first bright pixel / full bright frame). The latency reported by the VRX module was also 30-32 ms. Additionally, I have measured the HDMI input latency of the goggle to be 37 ms (you only need a Raspberry Pi Zero for that - search for "pi lag tester" if you're interested).
Considering that the sum of the HDMI input latency and the latency reported by the module is within the margin of error of the measured (first bright pixel) total latency, I would say that the latency value reported by the module is accurate but it only reflects the latency until the end of the image decompression (before the display driver or the HDMI output, respectively).
Now, I would be really interested if Fatshark has solved the problem with the "mobile phone screen latency" for the Recon HD.
And all in all I'm really considering to order the HD Zero goggles for my Walksnail VRX now...
Brilliant comment.... I'm currently running my Vrx on the Cobras and I agree. The latency is a tad too high for proximity at speed/hard freestyle.
But for the average Joe it's certainly adequate.
Looking forward to delivery of my hdzero goggles.
i have cobra s ...should i buy Walksnail VRX? budget fpv guy :P

and to answer your question at the end RE HDzero from my perspective; im yet to actually hear a good reason for my use case. Your video comparing dji/analogue/HDZ made it clear to me that HDZ is more expensive than DJI while having worse output at range/penetration. The only good use for it over DJI that i can tell after watching a lot of your videos is that its only good for latency/racing. Honestly, yours and the communities passion for HDZ baffles me a little, im not against it, i just havnt heard a good argument to go with HDZ over DJI for general flying... Im not Vanover, a split second of difference in latency doesn't win me over. I hope my perspective helps answer that.
You running it at 02x? Its okay?
@@aln4774 VRX is still in its box, not even bothered to try after seeing a video on latency across goggles. Probably going to wait a decade for HDZero goggles to drop in price so i can run my whoops on HDZ and the walksnail on a cinematic quad.
Can one use the DJI goggles stock antennas on the Walksnail VRX? They’re LHCP SMA if I’m not mistaken.
I mounted my VRX to my Aomways with Velcro. Worked surprisingly well
I loved my Aomways, they have a very clear image, but the sliders underneath for pupil distance never went out far enough for my eyes! They worked, but not as good as perfectly fitting goggles would have. Great goggles though!

It won't be, the cheap monitor looks terrible when I tried it ....🤔😳😏🇬🇧
@@EnglishTurbines Good to know. I burned this some month ago, Now I can stop weeping.
I would have needed this video yesterday... I got overheat on vtx at the same time I was in the framerate menu... though I broke the system... but when pluging into my gaming monitor i could change it back... who reads the menu especially a short card like this...
Hi Josh whats the voltage regulator cable you have?
how about use PC/console VR headset with VRX? for fun, PSVR for example? (edit. nope, needs usb commands for run) but another VR unit maybe can work
hey can you please tell...is this vrx will work with walksnail moonlight 4k vtx
Seems that this would work great for a person flying a wing with Inav / Ardupilot.
Okay but what about the original HDO's? 960x720p might take the 1080p signal relatively cleanly, no? Being that 1920/2 is 960, will the left and right screens split the vertical pixels or just compress the video?
23:03 The monitor / screens they use, li8kely could be overclocked to run slightly higher. This is pretty common practice, a lot of those super high refresh rate monitors now advertise their highest refresh rates on the box, that are ONLY achievable BY overclocking the monitor. They will say like "165hz!" but its really 144 native or something to that effect.
This is a brilliant VRX..... Can't wait to run it on my hdzero goggles.
Currently running it on the Cobra X. The latency is perfectly fine until I start picking up the speed and flying in and around things.
Defo need to get the latency down imo
how do you mount it on the cobra x?
@@ranzwocket3119 3d print on thingiverse or double-sided tape
anyone test this vrx on the old eachine goggles 2? Or Aomway commander V1?
A small screw will fit through the hdzero mounting bracket to hold the walksnail vrx
I have a WS VRX on the way 🤩
I got the VRX. It's the only real way I can go digital, since I have a lot tied up in my 04X goggles. (And HDZero is mainly for racing, honestly.) I only wish Walksnail included a better mount - most people are saying the included one breaks if you look at it wrong and I can confirm that's true.
GoPro extension brackets will work. They’re sold in all different lengths. I have a box of different lengths of the extensions and I use them for all kinds of goggles, cameras, night vision, and monitors. 🤷🏻♂️👍💯
My original DJI box type goggles have HDMI input. Might this be a solution?
Would these work with the Fatshark dominator v3’s??
What I've always wondered about with the Fatshark or walksnail goggles... wouldnt the black walksnail goggles heat up more in the hot summer days compared to the fatshark? N is there any negative effects due to that
Interesting that you were asking why the HDZero VRX was not as popular as this Walksnail VRX is now. I'll tell you what did it for me, was Wezley Vartys video on Walksnail LR test. Walksnail did amazing. However, I don't want their goggles, I think the fact that HDZero came out with their great goggles made it so I considered getting a system that would do everything other than DJI. So I will probably not be buying into the DJI O3 and instead go for mostly Walksnail for fixed wing and cruise flying and HDZero for my racing quads and that's it.
the main reason for me in HDZero VRX vs Walksnail VRX was HDZero VRX was 200$, but Walksnail was 200$ inklusive VTX and a camera, so you are basically good to go for 200 bucks
Yeah i have the same feeling. I think Walksnail and HD zero goggles is the best combo. You can use HD zero for racing and whoops and Walksnail for everything else
I have HDZero Vrx on my Skyzone 04x goggles. I don't like the way that HDZero video instantly drops out when the copter gets too far away. Using analogue FPV at the limit of range the screen becomes black and grey rather than colour but you can still fly back into range. With HDZero there is no alternative but to drop the copter and go find it. If Walksnail fades to B & W I would buy this unit and sell the HDzero system to someone who races or never gets to the limit.
@@stephenmutch4034 typically walksnail will get better range than analog in normal situations. At the limits you will get lots of latency and bad image quality but it should still be flyable. especially in 720p 25mb mode on walksnail.
Absolutely. Compare Wez Varty’s long range tests of HDZero with Walksnail. HDZero is a snowstorm of interference by the time he gets some range. The resolution of HDZ is also terrible, looks like upscaled 480p to me. I’d quite happily put up with some un-noticeable latency in return for an interference free high resolution image.
Can I use FatShark Transformer? It has also hdmi input.
Can you theoretically add hdmi input on a focal v2 model?
Hdzero is a fair bit more actually - $220 for the VRX, $100 for the vtx/camera, and then you will have snow city unless you buy $50-100 worth of antennas. The walksnail vrx at the introductory price gave you everything you needed for $200... Almost half the price. That's why I jumped!
@@catch22mania I've not flown either, but I did try my friends O3 system the other day and I didnt have any issues (I believe that has higher latency than WS). I wasn't flying anything too technical, but I'm pretty sure it will just be like switching between a whoop and a 3 inch. Different, but doable
Can you post a link to the mount you used for the Orqa's?
Where's the FW target for the 1s vtx, I haven't found it ?
