Thank you John, yes, it’s different...every time you hear a song from Queen it’s a new flavour..They were a genre unto themselves...I feel that this one is very theatrical....and by the way, to add to the drama of the song is Freddie’s outfit...wing tips on his sleeves and the bottom of his pants...this is a reference to the Roman God, Mercury......who was also known as the Winged Messenger......(Freddie was a genre unto himself 😍).......Freddie’s friend, Wayne Sleep, the ballet dancer put it very well, he said, “Freddie was an event”🤩

This song takes you on a mental journey and that is a lost art. They were all at the top of their game. Queen always delivers magic.

I can't believe I missed your reaction to this song. It is my favorite live performance from any band. Brian May wrote this song about a girl in one of his college classes that he wanted to date but could never muster the courage to ask her out. By the time he did, she was already involved with someone else. Thank you for your reaction.

Easily one of my favorite songs by Queen, especially this live performance version (in my opinion more powerful than the album). I have enjoyed playing this on the guitar over the past two weeks. The bridge for this song is out of this world beautiful (11 different chords; 16 chords in one bridge) I mean who else can pull this off other than Queen?

Breathtaking. They were on another plane of existence that night. And yes- seventies-Queen is a very different thing. They weren't as brilliant again up until Innuendo. You have to listen to March of the Black Queen now. BoRhap's Big sister.

Thanks, young man! This remains a favorite - as you mentioned, the interplay between Brian on guitar and Fred on keys is incredible... John & Roger also were all in... A Brian song.. but Freddie's vocals were astonishing. really appreciate your reaction to one of their best live ones...

  • @johngray34

This sound is unmatched by anyone - it simply can't be duplicated. Freddie's vocals and his passion, along with Brian's guitar work. This is an amazing live performance by the entire band - period. Brian and his father built his guitar. The wood came from the mantle of a fireplace from an old English castle. It is a one of a kind, but his sound comes primarily from the Deacy Amp. John Deacon, the bass player was an electronics major at the University and he built a special amp, also one of a kind. He use to use it, but gave it to Brian very early on in the band's formation. Brian used this little amp to create many of the sounds. Listen to "Good Company" from The Night at the Opera album and all of those sounds like trumpets and trombones and the entire roaring 20s jazz sounds are all Brian on the guitar with the Deacy Amp. Brilliant work. There is no argument, he is one of the greatest guitar players of all time.

Thank you for reacting to this exquisite song. It's almost impossible to put into words the depth of emotion it evokes through Freddie's hauntingly beautiful vocals, his gorgeous piano playing, Brian's amazing guitar.....all of it. Just an extraordinary collaboration of talent. And, oh yes....the young Freddie, so visually stunning in all his glory. A reminder of just how much his talent and presence in the world are missed.

Please react to You Take My Breath Away Live at Hyde Park 1976, It's so incredible beautiful song, short, simply and emotional, just Freddie's voice and his piano, the soft, delicate Freddie from the 70s... It will take your breath away.
