How much is mechanic labor to do this ?

Probably a lot more than its worth. Look where the ECT sensor and Thermostat are located. Parts cost is incredibly low, like a few dollars. They will drill you on labor and this takes about 15 minutes to do

@@errldabbins thanks for the info. My emissions system light went on. I went to Autozone and they tested it stating I need a thermostat. My registration tags are due and needs a smog check. I want to the dealer and they charged me 67 bucks for the thermostat! Auto zone was selling it for 22 bucks but I didn't trust auto zone parts. I think the dealer ripped me off. Don't Thermotats usually go for 40 bucks? Did I get ripped off? Any ways the mechanic charged me 130 bucks for the labor. Is that a fair price for labor? I ask cause I don't have any mechanical car skills.

@@hankgege2199 The thermostat cost itself will vary depending on part brand and vehicle model. Keep in mind that the dealer will likely have the highest price, but you will be guaranteed OEM parts, if that matters to you. $130 for labor doesn't sound off as mechanics usually bill by the hour. Your invoice should say how many hours labor you were billed. I would imagine it was 1 hour. My Lexus dealer charges $200 per hour. A brief web search indicates that most people pay between $300-$500 for thermostat replacement.

@@errldabbins thanks. Mine is a 2015 honda civic coupe lx. 67 bucks thermostat? Is that a little steep for a 2015 or legit?

@hankgege2199 It's around $100-$150 depending on the shop's labor rate. Hope this video can help you to at least try first the possible ways you could do on your own to fix this code. Thanks for watching!
