90 days ago we thought downtowns were rare, fast forward, turns out they ain’t. Yeah prices should be dropping, people sell prices on eBay have been delusional
I wouldn't say every "modern Football" just 99.9%. I don't really see Mahomes RCs tanking. I think they will whether the storm pretty well. Too much baked in success. Might take a dip as the overall market falls but they will still be at the surface of the waters and probably increase in the long term along with things like Brady and P. Manning RCs.
I’ll preface this by saying I don’t collect football cards anymore, but Lamar being up there makes sense to me considering he has 2 MVPs already and is still really young
My honest opinion, anyone going out and buying PSA 10's of any mainstream quarterback you are just tossing money in the fire, just like you said they have so much already baked in that they very rarely go up and if it does it is not enough profit to put out 2k of your money then only make 200 profit or even 500 profit that is not a winning business model and is the least likely outcome. The real money is in grading yourself and diversity of the hobby. You can also go for the smaller guys and they have much more room to go up when they have a game or two balling out. All last year was a perfect testament to this. Never put out 2k of your own money to only make 200 profit its not worth it, there are much better things to flip for better margens! Hope that helps someone! This is also short term speaking, if your buying mahomes PSA 10's for long term that is a different story all together.
Diversity in the hobby is key, a lot of WNBA stuff has gone up 3-4x since last year. Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, and A'ja Wilson cards have the gains flippers want.
@@sp123I won’t buy a psa 10. I’ll look for a raw card that looks like it could get a 9 or better….if that 9 price is better than the raw price by at least $30, I buy and grade it.
Joe Burrow is still extremely popular, so that is part of the reason his silver prizm is so expensive. Also, having elite receivers increases his chances of winning the Super Bowl if he can stay healthy.
I’m so happy i’m an older player card collector.. I love people collect in the newest players.. we all do the hobby different.. but for me with older 80s, vintage, and pre-war cards I dont have to think about the day to day events… :)
I get what your saying but as a overall I think the football market as a whole has been heavily hyped over the last one or two years, the baseball and basketball has already had a lot of price correction , football on the other hand I havent really seen the same effect. Not sure but the football market will feel it heavy this year and beyond for a few years until fanatics releases, dnt get me wrong it STILL doesn’t make since to me to see other positions of football not receive and or like same values as quarterbacks, just my opinion
When it comes to football, it is the main sport that I collect. Mostly collect Chiefs cards since they are my team as well as guys from Mizzou (my college team), but I like to collect a few here and few there from around the league. I don't have a lot of money and my collection's average value is less than $100. My most valuable card is a Mahomes Optic Rookie Threads SGC 10 which was in the range of $600-700 (down from the post super bowl max of $1300) that I only paid $160 (purchased in the off-season in the summer of 2022) raw and then $15 to grade. I don't sink a lot of money into "investment cards" (having only about $200 acquisition cost) for this very reason. I'm usually to late on the "hype train" to get any valuable cards cheaply. I'm fairly risk adverse and will only seek out cards that I think will have a fairly stable value over the long term (or they are Chiefs or Mizzou card that I'm chasing for my core collection). I also tend to avoid PSA 10s due to their unreasonable and ridiculous markup, unless they are, for what ever reason, properly priced at in the same ball park as Gems from SGC/CGC/Beckett. I collect mostly for the fun of owning and viewing the cards to make a buck off of them.
I'll bite for the content... I like investing in Bijan, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, as well as Goff, not because I'm in love with the players but just given their Market "value" compared to others. (at least for first two months) They will be fantasy darlings, discussed heavily and have more upside than downside (Atl guys anyways). Like you said won't take much for them to move the needle.
those guys all seem like pretty awful long term investments to me. pitts is a te, nobody cares. bijan is a rb, nobody cares. goff is boring, nobody cares. nobody thinks hes all that good. even if he actually wins a superbowl they wont give him any credit for it and he probably wont spike beyond that 2 week period before the superbowl anyway. see: tatum, jayson. of the guys you listed i could maaaaaybe see london getting there if you think he can develop into a top 10ish talent at wr but even then almost all of those guys dont really command any market value. also his cards arent super duper cheap right now anyway. i mean compared to jj and chase he is but id want to be starting at a real low price. like buying puka rookies in the preseason last year kinda prices.
@@moaf2padventures757 This is a 2-month flip/investment. Not investing long-term in any 2018-2023 products or players. It’s not about the players, it’s about the narrative and their “value” on Aug 15th vs Oct 15th.
I understand the anti-Burrow bias as a very long-suffering Browns fan. But he did not have a ‘God-awful’ season last year, even though it was substandard for him. Second, what has he done to be that pricey? Try gone to a Super Bowl and AFCCG. That’s all.
Ha nearly all those cards are over priced by 75-90% easily. A grand or more for these boring over printed prizm cards? Maybe a few hundred. I wouldnt even pay that. Long term trajectory for most is down and then down some more.
Yeah dude he's been so-so for 4 years but year five he's gonna meet the hype bro. 😅😂 It's like the guy who puts his mortgage on the poker table. Love it every year.
Nah. Mine aren't. When you've got actual 'good stuff' that you've got to dig back years to even find a "comp" on, you don't concern yourself with such things.
Buy every backup that isn't being talked about then sell when the starter goes down.
I make a yearly video on backup qbs to flip during season.
hehe good idea
That’s what I’m doing with my humongous Mac Jones collection that I acquired 3 years ago 🤞🏻
@@douglloyd7797 3 years ago he was way to expesnive he wasn't no backup lol backup are 99% off from starter prices

They definitely aren’t rare in 2023, but the value of DTs and Kabooms won’t take the hit in price that other cards will.
Title should clarify… “Modern Football”. My Terry Bradshaw Rc isn’t devaluing… none of my pre-1976 cards are either! 🎉😅

Buying offensive linemen... at least Geoff Wilson didn't recommend this.
Lol 😆 🤣
I only buy Will Grier

1 MAHOMES rookie left .and 2 JOSH Allen s..those will be sold in Dallas in Sept. I'm about..90%. Out of ultra modern .now..maybe 95%>>
I've been selling tons of football cards, all over comps
Gee thanks. Makes everyone so excited to buy cards. Now we will all take your advice and stop buying and sink the card market.
Neo would rather have a Spider-Man marvel card than a Joe Burrow silver.😂
Bryce Young over Will Levis???

I think Goff is way too cheap considering how he did last year and the Lions might be Super Bowl contenders

Women like Trevor Lawrence because of his hair (if only things were that easy and very one-dimensional, gotta love the way women think!).
Big mistake! I hated mahomes long curly hair. But whoops....my bad......ikes
Who's cj stroud backup?
He needs a haircut, so he doesn’t look like a WNBA player.😂
We have Taylor swift up next 😆
rip JJ lmfao this is why you only buy HOF retire players 99.999% cards are worthless just cause of serial number doesn't make it worth anything
didnt aaron darnold retired
Yes
None of these prices will look remotely good in 5-10 years. Investing in boom adjusted ultra modern is financial suicide.
The play is Anthony Richardson. His cards are going to double again after the Colts wipe the field with the Texans. Mark this post. 💰💰💰
Anthony Richardson is overrated. He looked completely lost against the Bengals. The Texans will destroy the Colts.😂

Keep laughing. If Jim Harbaugh can go to the Super Bowl with a bum like Colin Kaepernick, he will win multiple championships with Herbert.
