Years ago, after the collapse of the Soviet Union a delivery driver dropped-off some deliveries to my company. She came with her 12 year-old daughter. Everyone's jaw dropped because her daughter was gorgeous. My co-workers asked about this daughter. It seems when she first arrived in Canada and had to be assessed as to where to place her in our education system here in Ontario, they were stunned to learn the daughter was way, way ahead of all 12 year olds in Canada. They had to skip her not one, but two grades in our schools she was so far ahead. Her mother told us her daughter was not an Einstein, just that Russia's education was far, far superior to our own. They actually give a shit about the education of their children, unlike Canada.
Not always true. Only for the families who can afford to live in the nicer areas of the greater Moscow and Leningrad regions (maybe a few others like Chelyabinsk, I don’t know). Try adopting someone from Karelia or Yukutsk (Siberia) or Vladivostok (Russian Far East). Especially if they aren’t ethnic Russian (there are many, many ethnicities within Russia).
