Fun fact: You can tell what level a sentry is by how many beeps it makes.

I think, of all FP shooters, TF2 has the best “turret guy” and turrets in general. The sentry and buildings are like the perfect blend of bulky, mechanical hardware and smooth design. Other games either make them too clunky or too streamlined. These feel and sound powerful and deadly but also practically achievable to make, like I’m certain that we’ve had the technology to build sentries for decades, minus the targeting systems, but who knows nowadays. It doesn’t feel too impossible that a Texan genius could rig one of these up in the 60s had software been developed slightly faster (minus the Transformers folding, that’s just game magic). Anyway I just love sentry guns lol

In fact, a person that has both programming and electronics knowledge (and access to a firearm) could learn to create a lethal sentry gun weapon in the matter of months.
There are already videos on youtube of 'toy' sentry guns, that pinpoint your head in miliseconds and then fire at you with nerf bullets. As you can guess, nerf gun could be swapped with a firearm. (recoil compensation would have to be implemented though)
Nowadays we more than already have the targetting system lol.
We do use sentries, but their useless irl because they dont move.
Thats why tanks dont spam armour anymore.
Most weapons irl can do alot of damage in 1 shot.
Not so much in tf2
if we talking wrangled sentries its even easier cause you don't need some advanced targeting ai you just need some sort of remote control

This demonstration has been redone because the building stats have been changed (buildings now build 2.5x faster with wrench, repair costs increased from 20 to 33 metal for 100 HP).
Look at karma charger when he find a new map for demonstrations

Is it just me, or does the Engineer deserve to have Medieval Mode-friendly buildings? I was thinking maybe a Catapult in place of a Sentry, maybe thanks to a specific weapon, like a wooden mallet.
i like to imagine when im bored new machines for the engineer like a melle changing the normal sentry into a artilerry that ( to not be too op ) only has 2 levels , reason why it would be meele is bc the mini sentry is also melee and we wouldnt be able to have a mixed mini artilerry sentry OR a gun that would replace teleporters with maybe a little robot factory which would be weak but usefull to distract enemies OR a pistol that would replace the dispender with a much stronger one but only one person can use it at a time

Once I was playing tf2 and I built a sentry and all the other things. I was on the football/basketball game and a soldier comes to me and I'm like "Hmmm he is looking at my sentry" and then he comes and puts a sapper on it I take it down and we both stare at each other for 1 second and I'm like "NO ONE DESTROYES MY SENTRY" *BANG* K.O wrench to the face!
Wow, you were real clever then... lemme give ya a tip, every 'teammate' that comes near any of your buildings, you give them a wrench to the face, alright? If they are a real teammate they will thank you for looking out for spies. If they're a spy and they die first hit, they have a dead ringer, watch out for the spy, he'll be back from the dead any second...

I usually build lv 2s for eurica roll outs since they bound faster than lv 3s (I make sure that the sentry is one swing away from upgrading)

Technically a level 1 sentry gun could fire a bullet the size of it’s barrel, but that would mean it fires around 20 cm wide calibers. The about 1/2 of a demoman’s pipe bomb.
So Engineer developed a Passive defence auto turret, that could pierce all body armor And possibly be lethal from just 1-3 shots.
And from a diffirent perspective, he developed a prototype for a Bolter way before it was even made.

You cant crit boost sentry even wih wrangler but you can if you mini crit boosted by the buff banner if engie is in range
