  • If not for injuries, he could have had a hall of fame worthy career. He was an excellent goaltender when on top of his game.

I'll always look back to Game 7 in 2019 where he carried a completely flat Stars team to Double OT. A fantastic performance, and definitely the one I'll remember him for.

As a Lightning fan I loved bishop, he was so flexible for a big guy. I was pretty upset when he got traded but it worked out even better with Vasy. Glad he had success after he left, sucks the way his career ended.

I’m gonna miss Bishop as much as I like Holtby and Oettinger I only got to see Bishop play one game in person but he was fantastic. I cried after the Stars lost game 7 to the Blues but honestly if Bishop hadn’t stood on his head Dallas would have gotten blown out what a career all the best in retirement

Saw Bishop way early on in his career at a Texas Tornadoes game. First time I'd seen such a tall goalie. Was so cool to see him come to Dallas and put up several solid seasons. Wish he could've recovered but health has to come first.

As a long time bolts fan I'd like to say thank you to Mr. Bishop. I can still remember when we robbed ottawa for him lol. He put up great numbers and battled injuries the entire way. We then traded him to the kings and got cernak out of it. Everything to do with Bishop has been positive for the bolts. I wish him nothing but the best and wish he could of got a cup.

The Lightning take out the Blackhawks in the final if Bishop doesn't tear his groin. Remember the TV broadcast, how they said something isn't right, during TV breaks he literally just stands still between the pipes and doesn't move at all -- well, torn groin is why, that's what we found out after the series ended. No idea how he played with a torn groin, I had a strain groin (large pecker issue) and I could barely walk for 2 weeks. He was insanely good that year, and if he's healthy, and the Blackhawks don't break Tyler Johnson's hand on a dirty play, the Lightning win the series in 5 games.

Thank you Bishop for the years in Tampa, you were a tremendous gentleman with the fans and helped Vasy become a great goaltender. You also indirectly helped bring Cernak to Tampa who is one of the most underrated shutdown defenseman in the nhl.

He was amazing come playoff time. But just had awful injury luck. 2014, he gets injured before playoffs, Lightning get swept. Next year he helps take Lightning to Final, gets injured in those Finals, Lightning lose. Next year he takes Lightning to Conference Finals, gets injured game 1 vs Pittsburgh, Lightning lose in game 7. And then 3 seasons later he plays amazing with Stars and puts the team on his back for game 7, but they lose in Overtime to Cup Champions. Great goaltender that dealt with crap luck for his whole career, deserves credit for help reviving the Lightning franchise though

    • @rodmunch69
      @rodmunch69 2 года назад +2

He didn't just get injured in the final in 2015, he tore his groin and most played through it. Anyone who says he's soft, he played with a torn groin. You do that if you think someone is soft.

It sucks to think that Bishop is likely going to go down as one of the biggest "what ifs" of the 2010s. He had stretches were he looked so dominant, and I strongly believe that if he could have stayed healthy he could have easily built up a resume to put himself in the top 5 all-time amongst american goaltender. He still had a hell of a career, but man it still sucks that it ended this way for him.

Got to meet him at the Lightning fan fest the year they went to the cup final against Chicago. He was the last one to sign autographs, handlers kept trying to get him to go but he stayed like 2 hours past his time to make sure he got to see everyone. Was bummed when we traded him but that turned out for the best. Great guy, wish him the best.

Love Bish in Tampa, was sad to see him go at the time. Poor guy has so many weird injurie highlights, stick to the eye, front teeth being knocked out, mask cutting his nose, the leg injury in 2016, the falling onto his shoulder before the 14 playoffs. Kind of a magnet for injuries.

6'7the guy could have played basketball. It's always frustrating as a hockey fan in general when a good player has a career hampered by injury. We had a guy like that in Vancouver - Dan Cloutier. Cloutier had some solid regular seasons and had the some of most heart and desire I've seen in a Canucks goalie, never giving up on a play, but between those knee injuries and mental blocks when playing teams like Colorado and Detroit in the playoffs, it just never quite came together.

I thought he didn't get enough of a chance with the Blues when he was here. It's always fun to see local guys have success in the league. Sad to see his career end this way, but that's just how it goes sometimes.
His performance in the 2019 Blues/Stars series will definitely be remembered here, especially considering the way it ended with him and Maroon in game 7.

I remember when Tampa traded out Conacher who was having a great season and really looked like a player with potential. So I was not happy as a fan to see him leave and Bishop to come in. Well, changed my mind quite quickly on that one as Big Ben took over. No real weaknesses expect being very injury prone. I think Vasy learned a lot from him as well and would not be to kind of goalie he is without playing with Bishop. Ben will always be a Tampa favourite no matter what, all the best.

Besides size, Bishop was also part of the early wave of establishing the NCAA as a more credible proving ground for goaltenders. I’d say Dryden was the trailblazer on both, but Bishop was part of those becoming common.

Bishop was brought in to LA because there was real concern that Jonathan Quick would never play again he was coming off his 2nd (and arguably worse) groin injury in 2 or 3 years,Bishop was seen as an adequate replacement if need be, but Quick came back and looked fine while Bishop didn't have the best run with LA so was flipped at seasons end they got a 4th for a UFA turned it into another D-man (Marcus Phillips) but Cernak would be nice to have. But hey cheers to Bishop sucks that it eneded this way real good goalie who should have had even more success

Arguably should have two Vezinas. Not saying Vasi didn't rightfully win in 2018-2019 but it was a toss up between him and Bishop for me. And I absolutely think he was robbed of it in 2015-2016 by Holtby.

They were shotgun approaching the goalies at the time as I think Roloson was the guy at 38 years old.
