Ziggy, what league will you be playing? Trade, SSF, HC, SC? I've only played SSF for the last couple years, last two leagues was HCSSF for me. I usually don't play a lot 'cause I don't have a ton of time and PoE has kinda burned out on me a bit, so I'm unsure of what to play. I'm thinking about starting LA/Vaal LA Deadeye. What do you suggest?
@@ElGnomistico lightning arrow raider for me leveling with rain of arrows. And I mostly play sc trade league these days. Bow leveling is rough at times so go easy on yourself if you go that route.
This seems really useful. I've been through the campaign so many times now that I honestly play the game less just because I don't want to go through leveling again. This not only looks to make that less of a hassle, but also improves the quality of life on other things too. I don't plan on playing in this next league, but maybe I'll try it out in the future.
GGG dosent add stiff like this into the game as EVERY streamer would be using it and GGG has been against stuff that like in the past. Its why things like custom UIs have never been put into the game. Also Chinese POE has had something like this since release.

I'm planning on playing blade vortex this league, and being able to have an icon in the middle of the screen for when i can recast it is gonna be so nice rather than having to look down every 2 seconds. this is awesome

While I've been playing PoE off and on over the last 9 years, coming back after a 2 year break is challenging - not only to learn all the new league mechanics and skill gems that have gone core, but to remember the old campaign. This tool helps returning players immensely to get back in the saddle - thanks for posting!
This is HUGE! 1. For casual players or people who haven't played in awhile it's almost a burden to figure out what changed, new meta, etc... IF GGG actually takes issue with this, they're only punishing new and casual players because obviously regulars are on top of it. 2. GGG should implement this themselves because it's such a huge boon to fluidity of gameplay.. they know they built this game for those old D2 elitists and min/maxers. But guess what, most of us don't have that kind of time anymore GGG and trying to read forums for builds with obscure in-the-know lingo is absolutely painful and NOT FUN. We love the complexity of the game but don't have the time to invest to learn every little detail with each major update.. THIS UI + GUIDE IMPORT FIXES the immersion breaking while still allowing people to feel like they're doing the right thing/ lessen FOMO with bad choices etc. 3. This will be huge for training more casual players.. people can learn what to do for a specific builds, then perhaps they can diverge from the rigid guide after that or even during (guide might not like that obv, so that'd need to be added functionality).
If GGG takes action on this tool for the Capture-frames under the argument "provides an unfair advantage compared to non-users", they'll basically admit some of their skins as of late are litteral Pay to Win (Looking at you, "Movement-skill-is-on-cooldown Armor skin" or "Vaal-skill-is-still-in-Vaal-Soul-Prevention Pet")

The dev could alter the screen detection code in a way, that if the "Skills" icon is shown, hide overlays, otherwise show overlays. That way you would not be forced to use the overlay map. I however never play without the map being shown in the center as it makes navigating so much easier for me, so it is not an issue for me. Fyi, for anyone that doesn't know, you can filter out the map elements out from the map, so that only the crude layout is shown, decreases the screen clutter a lot and makes map so much easier to read.
That's so cool. I myself learned making Autohotkey stuff because I kept dying to my Animate Weapons duration running out. So I made an overlay "loading bar" type of thing that would tell me the remaining duration of my minions.

Oh yeah i remember this tool.. I believe it should be fine for people who manage to work it out. Mine got stuck because i skipped a step and once i figured out how to skip forward to get where i was i think it always reappeared back to ACT one objective that i missed and had to skip over and over again to get where i wanted to be. It was so annoying i deleted it because it was driving me nuts. I do admit that it was the first time i was using the tool and there probbably is a way to fix it but i wanted to play and not read thru guides on how to fix something that should be saving my time instead.
For the clone frame, making it linked to the health bar over your character and no longer the tab map overlay should solve the "issue". Health bars are displayed in maps only
The HP bar moves up and down depending on character size and terrain. AHK's pixel-reading quickly becomes inefficient if you're trying to read larger areas / longer lines. It's been a while since I tested it, so I could revisit it (but probably not right before league launch, I don't want to brick anything).
@@Emilberntler That would lead to annoying behavior when you leave the passive tree screen by any other means than pressing P (such as hitting esc, hitting the atlas shortcut, etc). Obviously a customizable keybind could work around that issue :)

It's worth repeating (you mention it in the video but people seem to be missing it): the tool is just taking pictures of what's on your monitor, and using that data to put other stuff on a transparent window on top of your game. At no point is it querying or modifying game files. That's why it needs to see specific things to understand that the passive skill tree has been opened, for example, because it's working with the very limited image data rather than the much more informative game data. There is no need to cynically speculate about GGG banning the UI tool, not just because it doesn't break TOS but because they'd have no way to tell that you're running image-detection software completely isolated from the game.
I think hundreds of people will see this video, download the app, use it, then think ''Oh yeah, I've done the campaign 50000 times, wtf was I thinking, I don't need this''
I'd say the campaign part is the least interesting thing about this app. Being able to put an overlay on the center of your screen and seeing your flasks, abilities, health and debuffs without having to look in 4 different directions is massive. This tool alone will make people become better players just by being able to move UI elements. In competitive PoE boss racing this tool can actually make quite a big difference and might be considered cheating, just because you can track everything so much easier. I wouldn't be surprised if this caused some major drama in the future.
So many tools have been built to help get through the campaign, after being forced through it no less than 30 times I'm ready for POE2 before I reengage with POE (or until the campaign is skippable)
Those that dont enjoy the campaign already know it well enough to get through it quickly without help

Yeah, but it does take several leagues before getting to that point. I used to have a guide up as well, but know it by heart for the most part now. Though I basically did the manual version of that leveling tool and added in what skills to pick up from where.
I shall use this next league. This seems like a no brainer though. I really wish GGG had some UI customisation made by the player base, even if it had to be verified by GGG.

this ui seems kinda cool can i use it to check if i have adrenaline buff active? prob not the way you do your cd stuff - since you cant just track the frames - since its a buff. and depend on how much is going on - the place may change............ maybe something like a timer pressed corrupting fever->20 seconds? xD
I'm a little paranoid about Autohotkey, it got me banned from WoW once for 6 months. But to be fair, I used it to interact with the game world directly, rather than an overlay type like this seems to be. In an attempt to farm a certain drop off of target dummies in WoW Classic, I tried to write an Autohotkey script that pressed a button every 2 minutes (deploying the dummy), and right-click shortly after (to loot it), for like half an hour or something. I immediately got banned the next day.
Yeah you have to careful using AHK scripts that actually do things in the game especially automatically unless you are super familiar with the games ToS. It's fine to use for overlays and even some specific actions (like just rebinding a key). For PoE overlays and things that interact with the clipboard or read the screen (or logs) is all good! But you can do something like make an flask pop automatically.
I used autohotkey for a trade macro for about 4 years of playing poe and never had an issue. As long as it's not doing anything to the game itself you're Gucci.
You got banned for getting detected botting,not for having AHK running while playing wow. PoE doesn't have any cheat detection software client side, but if your AHK action is too "botlike" you'll get audited and possibly banned.

That weakauras part was part of mercury trade years ago... and im pretty sure it was deemed to go too far by ggg when someone was asking in order to remake/update mercury trade
Just stumbled upon this video. Im pretty sure they said earlier that using macro's that presses multiple buttons was against the rules. In that case wouldn't It also be against the rules that it auto types text into the vendor window? Or did they go back on that?
Did you confirm this together with GGG? I know they are a little "twitchy" if it comes to overlays, even if they are only done with AHK. I know a lot of people got problems for using awakened poe trade at the start.
As a software engineer, the fact that so many tools exist to make leveling easier should be a huge red flag to the devs at GGG that they should make leveling easier and it blows my mind that they ignore these signals from the community.
Leveling is easy enough in the game, I don’t think that the tools existing are indicative that the devs are lacking. Games always will have mods or community tools like this, Sometimes bad and sometimes good. There are some major areas the game needs work, I just don’t think leveling is one of them. I’d much rather see considerable development time on trade and the need for third party tools such as path of building, However I believe that is a fate we will never escape.
@@Vecalius You are correct that people will always make 3rd party tools, but there is a considerable number of players that wont play POE anymore because they cannot bring themselves to go through the campaign for the 500th time. Even in the same league I hate making alts since It's yet another 7 hours to get through the campaign. They could work to keep players engaged longer during a league, or to research how to get more people to play. But they don't seem interested in doing this. Imagine having a currency that lets you create a lv 60 alt. THAT would be amazing :p
@@Vecalius Well, a lot of people - including me - find that leveling in PoE is not easy enough but a major pain in the ass. Leveling in Diablo 3 was easy enough (last time I played was after Necro came out) and even I was through in 5 or 6 hours whereas my fastest time in PoE is still 12 hours and my average at 16 to 17 hours (with a total playtime of over 4.500 hours). Why am I so slow? Go back to the beginning of my comment - I really do not want to commit any time to train to get faster at leveling. On the other hand leveling in Undecember was great! Game has so many QoL things PoE has been lacking for years and also you actually start playing your build in act 2 at the latest (not between level 30 and 50 as with many PoE builds).
This looks great, already started setting it up! Now, if only I can figure out why it keeps shutting down, deleting the UI AHK file and locking the folder so I cant copy back the AHK file... I'm certain the fault is mine, but I cant figure out what i'm doing to upset it so.
Some say Path of Exile is too complex and that it's crap because you just stare at spreadsheets and use 3rd Party tools but that one of the big reason why i just LOVE PoE. Feels like a real PC Game like in the old days
is weak auras also working for skills which pop in and out? like when placing totems which despawn after some time? would be nice to better see how many of your totems are placed atm.
I love the concept but this script messes up "push to walk" configs. I've always played with tab as movement rather than M1, but with the script on the game just assumes holding tab = one click with m1 making the char just run to the point where the click was made and then stand there. Impossible for me to play like that :(
i cannot for the life of me find this anywhere. i do not understand. its not even in the github page, everyone just says press the fucking hotkey and i have no idea what it is!
So this doesn't alter the game client at all.. which means they could never know you use such a tool unless you're a streamer, correct? (honestly tired of game difficulty based on poor UI options and graphical cluster f**ks) They don't want easily visible debuffs or a death log, but expect us to just die without gaining any knowledge in some cases?
What does it say to get gear?... Good luck on finding the currency? Or Run 200 map hope you find it .. or crafting lmao 🤣. I guess it bugs out at end game
This start to become a race between GGG trying to make the game more inaccessible and complicated as possible and the community that try to build scripts to make the Path of exile a game and not a second Job. I hope they will learn the lesson for Path of Exile two and find a way to make coexist their excellent build complexity with game actually enjoyable also for casual players.

Im pretty sure they said earlier that using macro's that presses multiple buttons was against the rules. In that case wouldn't It also be against the rules that it auto types text into the vendor window? Or did they go back on that?
i just need to have a UI that tells me when i have bleed in a big icon that i can move. All i have ever want for years.

Did you confirm this together with GGG? I know they are a little "twitchy" if it comes to overlays, even if they are only done with AHK. I know a lot of people got problems for using awakened poe trade at the start.

As a software engineer, the fact that so many tools exist to make leveling easier should be a huge red flag to the devs at GGG that they should make leveling easier and it blows my mind that they ignore these signals from the community.
Leveling is easy enough in the game, I don’t think that the tools existing are indicative that the devs are lacking. Games always will have mods or community tools like this, Sometimes bad and sometimes good. There are some major areas the game needs work, I just don’t think leveling is one of them. I’d much rather see considerable development time on trade and the need for third party tools such as path of building, However I believe that is a fate we will never escape.
@@Vecalius You are correct that people will always make 3rd party tools, but there is a considerable number of players that wont play POE anymore because they cannot bring themselves to go through the campaign for the 500th time. Even in the same league I hate making alts since It's yet another 7 hours to get through the campaign. They could work to keep players engaged longer during a league, or to research how to get more people to play. But they don't seem interested in doing this.
Imagine having a currency that lets you create a lv 60 alt. THAT would be amazing :p
@@Vecalius Well, a lot of people - including me - find that leveling in PoE is not easy enough but a major pain in the ass.
Leveling in Diablo 3 was easy enough (last time I played was after Necro came out) and even I was through in 5 or 6 hours whereas my fastest time in PoE is still 12 hours and my average at 16 to 17 hours (with a total playtime of over 4.500 hours). Why am I so slow? Go back to the beginning of my comment - I really do not want to commit any time to train to get faster at leveling.
On the other hand leveling in Undecember was great! Game has so many QoL things PoE has been lacking for years and also you actually start playing your build in act 2 at the latest (not between level 30 and 50 as with many PoE builds).
@@Vecalius after playing the game since delve, ( 5 years ) leveling is awful and i'd say anybody that gets past maps more than 3 leagues hates it too.
This might solve new player retention better than ggg could ever do. lol
This looks great, already started setting it up! Now, if only I can figure out why it keeps shutting down, deleting the UI AHK file and locking the folder so I cant copy back the AHK file... I'm certain the fault is mine, but I cant figure out what i'm doing to upset it so.
Some say Path of Exile is too complex and that it's crap because you just stare at spreadsheets and use 3rd Party tools but that one of the big reason why i just LOVE PoE. Feels like a real PC Game like in the old days

Weak auras would be awesome option for main game too. but 3rd party i guess =)

Can't get it to ruin. For some reason when I run the script the IU and the run file deletes itself and the whole thing crash.
Is there an alt leveling tool to go with this so we dont do the useless quests

I love the concept but this script messes up "push to walk" configs. I've always played with tab as movement rather than M1, but with the script on the game just assumes holding tab = one click with m1 making the char just run to the point where the click was made and then stand there. Impossible for me to play like that :(
Can this track buffs? I have a hard time tracking important buffs to my build. They're not static on the screen though
Pressing the omnikey when going to buy gems the guide says to buy doesnt do anything for me

i cannot for the life of me find this anywhere. i do not understand. its not even in the github page, everyone just says press the fucking hotkey and i have no idea what it is!

The lengths people will go to cover for the devs for games they love
So this doesn't alter the game client at all.. which means they could never know you use such a tool unless you're a streamer, correct? (honestly tired of game difficulty based on poor UI options and graphical cluster f**ks) They don't want easily visible debuffs or a death log, but expect us to just die without gaining any knowledge in some cases?

This start to become a race between GGG trying to make the game more inaccessible and complicated as possible and the community that try to build scripts to make the Path of exile a game and not a second Job.
I hope they will learn the lesson for Path of Exile two and find a way to make coexist their excellent build complexity with game actually enjoyable also for casual players.
