Very good video! Watching a fire Sorc is one of the more entertaining early game builds and is one of my personal favorites all around. You also gave all kinds of useful information throughout the playthrough that would help people of all experience levels. Which I really appreciate. You're the best D2 RUclipsr out there as far as I'm concerned! Part 2 here I come!
I just started a single player sorc and I'm loving it. I agree with the stuff you said around 52:00. Not having access to trading makes finding good stuff super exciting. Also the maps stayin between sessions is incredibly chill, which has made this single player run incredibly fun so far. I'm actually looking forward to boss farming because it's so relaxing when you got the map layout stored.
I used one of my Akara respecs to go into hydra/orb after 2.4 went live, and I love it. I like it much more than orb/firewall, just because firewall was unreliable.
For mercs i think they should add useful to player things. A3 sorcerer should either do frost nova, static field or enchant. A5 barb should either shout hp/def bonus or do find item.
This is my absolute favourite of 2.4. A well-placed Orb is comparable to Blizzard in P1 Online play, coupled with a couple of Hydras for Cold Immunes and bosses and yo're good to go. I absolutely love the versatility in terms of farming areas the build brings to the table.
This combo is very good. I tried leaf on my druid before the season and that weapon is simply too powerful and cheap to pass on. So I leveled as fire and just the staff was powerful enough to save skill points. So I've been keeping hydra at 2 skills and fire mastery at 1 (plus item bonuses) and the rest on frozen orb... mainly because FO os cheaper to max and what's not to like about FO
Before D2R, I played a lot of plugy and also had fun shopping for low level BIS items from act 1 and 2 vendors like 3 fireball leaf, 3 bone spear white, 3 blessed hammer socketed with tirx2, etc.
Yes MrLlamaSC is it possible to do all the Let’s play guide with all characters like the old series you have in page since they changed some things from LOD to Resurrect thanks for all the videos
How are you able to keep moving while going into inventory and drinking potions or adding points to your skill tree? Are you using something other than your mouse to move around?
Depending on the monster, your better off teleporting past cold immune still sometimes, hydra is shit if the monsters are fast moving, or big groups of them. Like fetishes in act 3 hell etc
After not playing since 2004 and being a hc path player coming back is super fun and its what I play once leagues done. My question as a pro is how in the heck do you use your storage space like for ladder seasonal? The games awesome I just have learned to horde and buy more tabs.. since thats not an option how do u get around this?
@@HammerOfDawnn its a bug that lets you tele further away, if you have a tab open on either side and point at the corner. Beats me and ive pleayed for a couple decades at this point. Although for the first decade i mostly played as stuff like a 2h melee summon fire druid lol
@@HammerOfDawnn it's really weird coding. when you have your mouse on your char and open one of these tabs, your mouse shifts. somehow they didn't cap your mouse to the visible screen, so when you are teleporting and open the tab, you start going further. you do have to tele before opening though
I'm liking a Hydra/Blizzard sorceress in ladder now (I tried orb, just felt the damage was letting me down). Reason is damage is better on blizzard (than orb), and I'd rather do synergies on blizzard than hydra (more % per point), even though I can't max either, its pretty strong. Maxed hydra and fire mastery for damage there, rest as needed on cold mastery/ice blast for synergy/cold damage. Gives me a decent secondary spam spell that I can use for cold as well.
That is the one thing i didnt like about immune monsters. That they could stall a character if you only went down one tree. I mean its a learning experience but hey it is what it is.
one way to get lots of gold early is to stop leveling at lvl 3, then do burial grounds runs. kill nothing, just enter both tombs, open all the chests, crypts, golden chests, etc. loot everything, save quit, then vendor it all in town.
I just started Hell on my sorceress being a 100% blizz sorceress (only cold skills) and that wasn't fun! I tried Hydra/Frozen Orb and it's not as fast but at least I can clear everything. I always play with a friend (hammerdin) with that sorceress.
You misunderstood the Ice Bolt synergy, what it does is adds 2% per ice shard. you see those dozens of shards flowing out of the orb, and you know how you can hit a boss with all of them if you position correctly, ya, it's a lot of damage to single targets. I also prefer just charged bolt right through to 24, does great AoE kills everything in one shot all the way to NM on P1, ya, you have to get close, but it is no big deal.
Not enough skill points to go fire ball and lightning so maybe fire ball and thunder storm? Thunder storm is not too strong but passive boosts your total damage and does not require too many synergy points. Might want a one point wonder frost nova to make them move slower.
Funny you did this. I was just thinking about this build and was contemplating it. It just makes sense really, running dual level 30 spells as your main attack skills. Meteor just does SO much damage tho.
Clearly its my personal preference but i only like to us teleport to take odd shortcuts or get out of a tough spot. Im not a fan of just bouncing over the game
Back in my day we had meteorb for a no-respec run - because there were no respecs. You did normal with fireball, NM with orb, hell with meteorb, and you liked aiming the meteors!
i am in nightmare and none of the quests for the horadric staff are working. No queen maggot in maggot lair an no staff in the chest. Amulet will not drop in snakes. I have not completed these in nightmare and now Im stuck. Anyone know about this?
if youre put of respecs and are online, u can trade or farm 1 of each essence from andy/meph/diablo/baal to make a respec token. you can also just farm areas with no/low cold immuenes like cows/trav/ancient tunnels/stony tombs to gear yourself or your merc up. he should be able to take out cold immunes once decently geared. example would be cold immune seal bosses at Diablo or baal waves to help gt the essences. by the time u get 1 of each essence u may get accustomed to going full cold build tho.

I feel like starting with charged bolt and then respecing into fire baLL at around 16 is the best strat for sorc, because fire bolt sucks, charged is much better at lower levels.
My strat for any sork: clear den, kill blood raven, buy 3os bow for merk, and together we can easiy get 6lvl, then 1pt in frost nova, other points to static, then after 12 to ~70 stay on nova, stats half life half energy. Then respec on hell. In the middle of 1-2 act ask akara/drognan for +2-3 to frost nova/nova staves
I think they should remove the fireball synergy from Hydra and raise the firebolt synergy. Maybe people will actually use firebolt past level 12 for once.
I'm gonna totally disagree with your starting a sorcy. every sorcy should start out as fire. It does most damage starting off. Do tower until you can make leaf. Buy the 2os stick from Akara, keep refreshing till you get plus skills to fire damage. Once you get around lvl 25 reset stats,skills and go lightning.
Yes she does die....often I am one of the many suffering. I think the reason while watching your guild are the tricks when and how to teleport. How to choose who and what to fight. This is vital knowledge.....

Maybe make the monsters cap out at 95percent immunity or something so they take barely any damage without aura/LR curse but to compensate give them some more damage and life. Or maybe add a 4th difficulty which would have all bosses at lvl 99 and monsters at 95, same loot tables as hell but with more experience gained so that solo leveling experience would be better (monsters would also be stronger at those levels and take longer to kill but instead of only diablo, baal and nihla giving exp, you could just run through all the game killing everything and gaining exp)

I always start off trying to play like you but then my OCD takes over and I have to kill everything and collect all the gold and rates etc.

Act 5 forever. To this day it still blows my mind. I played classic as a kid and LoD just blew my mind especially Act 5.

I really suggest dropping like 20 into energy over rest early acts in normal. You will respec anyway. It saves a lot of potions, pain and time.

Just used this for my hardcore character and I had a lot fun. Hell was a bit tough but easily teleport through all the craziness.

Also, the aoe of orb is best in the game, and the benefit of the utility hydra, helps add to it's new viability as being a good choice.

Extra 500 percent XP only matters if you can kill it in under 5x the time.

There needs to be Flame Wave for D2R - just replace one of the Level-24 tier Fire skills with Flame Wave and make it spammable.
I'm surprised you didn't do this all in one go. I imagine you are only going to take ~6h unless you stop to really deep dive into interactions.

This was my first matriarch after 2.4 came out. It is a breeze to pay through the game (or as easy as it can be)
