One interesting factoid of Shockwave on Werebear that nobody really knows: If you have “prevent monster heal” it’ll apply it to all monsters hit, this is incredibly helpful in Hell vs all Baal minions and packs to do this first to stunt healing then aoe
The best part of the druid is the sheer coolness of a werewolf druid with a pack of dire wolves backing him up. There is nothing more fun than tearing bosses apart while your troops take care of the boss's flunkies.
Glad I stumbled upon this series. Not surprised that an excellent speedrunner is well informed on the game, but this was also all so clearly explained, and fascinating. The info and the gameplay both make each other more interesting. Well done, gotta say.
This was my first guided playthrough and I got a whole new respect for your knowledge and skill in this game! I was running a twinked druid with maphack and I still couldn't keep up with you. Thanks for the awesome guided playthrough! I will be using all of the other ones in the future to level all my characters.
I made a pvp rabies druid back in the day. My friend and I had been playing together for years and we had so much fun, we loved dw so much. We got so bored with everyone using the same cookie cutter pvp builds so we would try to have fun and challenge ourselves with unorthodox builds. Rabies druid was hit or miss but the thing was if you could get a hit on someone they'd go down to one life damn near instantly most of the time. Then you just needed that last hit on them and they were done. Was pretty fun and I think would catch most people off guard.
Same. The beta was a lot of fun. Aside from a few issues I had it looked and ran great FOR ME. Most of the issues were also in classic so it is what it is. Just nice to have an updated version to enjoy because I haven't played since 2011
I actually started playing D2 again because of you sir. Your Pluggy install guide got me so fired up to play again. I ran a Fissure Dudu until nightmare Act 3, but I can’t find a good Tornado pelt to reset into a Wind Druid. 😭
I would put forward about the marketing deal between Gillette and Twitch that because Bits have no monetary value until they’re given(as far as I understand), a person buying Gillette products would have to both redeem those Bits(assuming they have an account) and give them to a streamer for Twitch to pay anything out. I don’t know Twitch very well, but if that currency is also used to buy things within the Twitch service itself, then Twitch doesn’t necessarily lose money there either. It benefits both companies by marketing Gillette to a younger audience and giving Twitch more legitimacy and exposure by being attached to an established, major brand. I’d say between the fact that many of those Bits won’t ever be “spent” and the marketing goals of both companies that it was probably beneficial to both. Edit: also, to address the idea that there’s a loss of revenue by giving those Bits away, I would say that since it was either Gillette trying to appeal to younger people, in which case they paid Twitch an amount exceeding their expected loss, or Twitch wanted to use Gillette’s market primacy to reach new users themselves, in which case those Bits would not have been purchased in the first place and instead serve as an incentive to create a Twitch account. Purchases by current users would be a calculated loss(probably mitigated by a payment from Gillette in this case as well). I also suspect that the 50$ with 100 Bits could only be done once(or at most a small # of times), because anything else just doesn’t make sense. Again, between the advertising exposure and draw for new users/consumers, the books either balance, or much more likely, favor Twitch and/or Gillette. Edit 2: reading up on it after the fact, seems like both companies are doing rather well from the myriad promotions associated with the brand deal.
I never used a shield and even finished Hell without one. I simply found high levl mauls in conjunction with the werebear and Grizzly more than enough especially with Oak Sag and the Carrion Vine. Th original mercenary the archer was perfect as a support character. She helped negate my lack of ranged weapons and I gave her some epic bows.
Trying out this build on Resurrected and so far it's going amazingly! The Countess seems to want to hold on tight to those Ral and Eth runes though. Hopefully I can get her to drop them soon.
Thank you for your tutorials, MrLlama! I don't remember finishing the game when I first played it, and Andariel/Duriel literally brought me to tears more times than I like to remember...
@1:09:45 It would be easier to just explain that Magic Find has diminishing returns for any rarity after blue. "Asymptotic" means a curve that approaches a line with coordinates to infinity without ever touching. Not quite the word you're looking for. Great content! Fissure is OP.
For anyone getting into D2 ahead of (or in preparation for) the remaster the base stat and frames advice at the start of the video is not applicable for shapeshifting druids. Were forms have effective base life on par with Paladin or Barbarian by virtue of Lycanthropy (or just the first point of Werebear if you choose that form). Werewolf has the fastest base hit frames in the game, and better (though still bad) block frames. Though you won't be using any Elemental spells if you choose to level shapeshifter (though you can have a very tanky summoner).
Rare drops in this run: (unique's and set items only, with a drop rate of 1-in-5000 or less) Axe of Fechmar dropped by a normal Decayed in Halls of the Dead lvl 1 (1:145677) Cathan's Sigil dropped by a normal Specter in the Arcane Sanctuary (1:132339) Given how in this build you do a lot of area kills and just keep running, there could have been any number of drops that did not show up on screen. Not that it's likely ... but certainly the Axe of Fechmar drop and the Cathan's Sigil drop were far from likely, but they still dropped. I know it's not really that important for this guide for you to have any great items, so it's just like whatever ... I'm just noting this for the record.
Talking about bear form, I used to be the target for uber runs with my mates, I'd just spam shockwaves to the point that I'd have so many skelys on me no more would summon yet I'd take no damage cos they'd all be stunned. My bastard mate would then just trap Mephy killing him last just to be a prick
Hehe its fun looking at these videos talking about D2:r because it wasn't a thing then, but I am watching them now because they are a thing and I saw llama on choftly's vid :D

I know it's probably not as fun for you, but would be interested in seeing a summon or shapeshifting druid guided playthrough. If I recall you did a summon druid man vs stream, but i'd love to see it played "for fun".
tip: act 1 blood moore, check the bed in the building before opening the chest. The chest will drop triple the items if you check the bed first. I have gotten chip gems and even small charm there. first run only it seems.
I think reason why was cause if it said minion the aura glitches to only let them have the aura or doesn't let them have the aura I remember them saying something about it when it was brought up in lod back in the day cant remember which it was
**As the druid frees Cain from his cage he then process to ask :** is this Tristan? TELL ME!! Cain: eh yes.. I think it is- HOW DID IT GET BURNED? HOW DID IT GET BURNED?! About Gillette, their marketing probably considers a person buying their product as an "acquired customer", with customer acquisition cost of $25-$100. This is probably within their range for acquiring a new customer. The issue is how many of these people are going to be recurring customers, vs the number just taking advantage for the bits?
Twitch is probably subsidizing the partnership with Gilette. Twitch probably makes so much money on bits (fictional currency sold at a markup for literally only profit to Twitch) that they're willing to give them away for a visibility partnership with Gilette. If Gilette sees huge profits with this deal, Twitch can flaunt this as a reason to partner with them in the future.

Hello. I tried to find these character sheets that you show in your Guided videos but was unable to find them. Where can I see them so I can save a screenshot of each class? ALSO IMPORTANT: I've been meaning to ask this: Lets say I have a wand with +1 to bone armor and I buff myself then switch to my main weapon, does the +1 effect continue or does it drop? Also, do +1 to All Skill Lvls work on Mercs?
off the top of my head, I'm not sure about the character sheets or the bone armor question, but I know Llama has confirmed that + to all skills items work on Mercs (but not + to all combat skills, for example ... only items that are "all skills") but for the bone armor question, I'm not sure but I'd think the buff stays. I say that because I know you can cast Battle Orders with runewords on non-barbarian characters, then swap weapons to anything else that doesn't have + to battle orders, and the spell will still be there. So, in the same way, I'd say that bone armor will stay with however much protection it offers from when you cast the spell.
Lol my friends hated my Molten Boulder druid. The damage is ridiculous at skill lvl 20+. Even immune to fire enemies aren't safe from the physical damage of the boulder.
so how would you recommend playing a wind druid in the early levels WITHOUT plugy-- asking because the soon to drop D2R won't have infinite respec like plugy-- would you say fissure until you get to nightmare then Akara reset?
Would you consider using your Holy Grail Sorc to make a tutorial vid on high level gear? Just good items to look for in a multitude of builds/classes. I find it ends up getting harder to choose between certain gear in late game.

I was doing the countess at players 7...... It was dropping just 1 rune all the time, thought blizzard added an anti farm mechanic or something. Duh.
"you wanna pick a way that is straight" as long as I don't have to be...
Lol my friends hated my Molten Boulder druid. The damage is ridiculous at skill lvl 20+. Even immune to fire enemies aren't safe from the physical damage of the boulder.
I died 3 times against Duriel recently....
You destroyed him in 3 seconds....
Much respect, sir.
so how would you recommend playing a wind druid in the early levels WITHOUT plugy-- asking because the soon to drop D2R won't have infinite respec like plugy-- would you say fissure until you get to nightmare then Akara reset?
druid OP
Would you consider using your Holy Grail Sorc to make a tutorial vid on high level gear? Just good items to look for in a multitude of builds/classes. I find it ends up getting harder to choose between certain gear in late game.
Ya Ithink that could be fun
