Full podcast episode: ruclips.net/video/yEou104m_P0/видео.html Lex Fridman podcast channel: ruclips.net/user/lexfridman Guest bio: Andrew Callaghan is the host of Channel 5 on RUclips, where he does street interviews with fascinating humans at the edges of society, the so-called vagrants, vagabonds, runaways, outlaws, from QAnon adherents to Phish heads to O Block residents and much more.
Reminds me of what Shatner said about visiting space, it made him sad when he expected to be awed. Sad because when he looked up and saw the nothing-black-void, he realized Earth was truly all there was - or something like that. He was more poetic with it lol
It's unfortunate our so called leaders have a vested interest in using our primal motives to pit us against eachother. Otherwise this place would be incredible!
The fact is that the “character” of Hunter S. Thompson was not made for old bones. He had become Raoul from “Fear and Loathing,” a one-dimensional caricature who wasn’t challenging himself anymore. The work suffered and years of substance abuse made life unbearable, ultimately ending in him taking his own life. Too many continue to believe the character; few see the real genius in his early writing.
It's true, just looking up to the stars and contemplating you can experience humility if you've grown to that point. That was one of the reasons I love camping so much and watching Ren n Stimpy.
Fear and loathing is just as journalistic and has just as much to say about the country as any of his other works. And anyone that is truly into Hunter s Thompson would never compare Andrew Callaghan to him, ever.
Four of my heroes: drugs, alcohol, insanity and Hunter S. Thompson! They have all taught me Not to celebrate fame, idols, or substances. Celebrate the exploring of unfamiliar landscapes of the mind and human experiences, colorfully and truthfully, but isn't celebrating hedonism a lame circle-jerk kinda thing? Someone had to write about it, and that was Hunter, but the things crowds often celebrate and repeat are already cliche. First there is the weirdo out-layer, and original that influences (counter-)culture then "celebrating" culture turns into be any kind of an influencer is a celebrity.😂 2:04
The fact that this new generation thinks Andrew is anything close to hunter is laughable. Cringe content from a predator. Career over. Being the “gotcha” guy can only go so far. Bye bye Andrew 😢

A love how people keep quoting Hunter's "daily routine" like it was real and not a total put on
