Miniature Doll Bed - Polymer Clay/Fabric Tutorial

- Hi guys! You all seemed to like polymer clay furniture, so today’s project is this miniature vintage inspired Doll bed. I found some inspiration pictures online and then drew a stencil design for the headboard/end pieces. The clay will be flexible after baking since it is so thin, so this type of bed will only work for a light/small doll. If you wanna make it for a larger doll, you should reinforce the frame.
Good to know:
I work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms :) I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.

I love that you stuck with clay to make this bed. I love the blankets, they are so pretty and feminine and go with romantic style of the bed. If you wanted more strength in the bed for heavier dolls just add some long flat pieces of clay that are vertical along the horizontal long pieces the length of the bed, will stop it from bending. Or add some legs in the middle to stop the bend. But I think it looks great, do people actually put dolls in the bed or just set it in a room in a dollhouse and look at it?
I'd stopped playing with dolls long ago, but making furniture and clothes and that stuff is always fun for me! Plus, it makes great decoration.

OMG I'M MAKING THIS FOR MY NINJA TURTLES!! =D With a wooden base instead of pretty frame. The mattress was brilliant. I had no idea how to tackle that. Any specific glue you suggest for the fabric? ^_^
NerdECrafter Glad you liked it =D I used a good fabric glue from my local fabric store :) It's easier if it's a thick, quick drying one :)

this is so cool but i dont have any polymer clay but i do have some modling clay and it wont dry out so i cant do this project i still give it a thumbs up :)

How DURABLE is it to make out of polymer clay? :O Im in love with the look, but for what Im doing, it has to be somewhat durable (both cause Im clumsy and cause i regularly ”play” with the whole set). Is it different from air-dry clay or whatever to call it?

:). How do you keep your clay workable?i have a problem with my sculpey becoming too warm and soft and very awkward to work with. Also any tips on keeping control when making a skinner blend? :)
