  • As new nurses...we all tend to make the same mistakes. I wanted to make this video not to shame new nurses for making these mistakes, but to help educate everyone so we can be better! :)

I'm so glad you made this video because it helps me realize some of my anxieties about being a new nurse are completely normal.

I'm glad you addressed this because sometimes I feel like I ask too many questions.

Ive seen how catty experienced nurses are with the new nurses and they’ll criticize their work or point out all their mistakes and to be honest I am a bit apprehensive about becoming a nurse. Im sure you’ve already experienced that at some point in your career and its sad because we should all work as a team for the good sake of our patients.

Thanks for sharing Ashley. I remember being in my first clinical rotation and being afraid of sounding stupid asking some questions, and I really should've asked because I had the excuse of being totally new.

I really loved this video. I am in 3rd semester now and I am definitely getting anxious about graduating and doing this on my own. I am thankful you made the point of not being afraid to ask for help. That makes me feel so much better and realize that we are a team.

Learn in the very beginning how to say NO! You have 2 labile vented patients and charge wants you to take and evolving MI. New nurses get dumped on sometimes. Remember any patient you take you are responsible for.Until you actually feel capable to take a bigger load, dont, thats what those hard core veterans are there for.

Yes, ask for help...it may be your shift to drown this time but the next shift it may be someone else so be on the look out so you can also return the favor....this is how you earn some respect as a new nurse from the veterans

I'm watching this after giving report to a new nurse who asked me the same question 5 times. Wanna know what the question was that required 5 times?
What arm is the PICC line on?
Yes she asked 5 times during report.....I'm exhausted from not yelling at her to start listening.

I am 67 I first encountered nurses on a a regular basis in 1969 at the age of 15
They were cruel, sadistic, selfish and sarcastic
I see from watching your videos and others that nothing has really changed since 1969
