- I was requested by deadsloth2112 to do this video.. wow.. almost a year ago I believe! I'm so sorry to everyone that it's taken this long to finish, but I'm glad it's done.
A Special Thank You to Mike Bliss and Liz Wust for putting up with the wait! They both did a great job acting! Kathy Mechan for the great makeup jobs as usual, and Erin Mechan for helping out with whatever was needed at the time. (Erin and I also make small cameos.. )
I hope you all enjoy! I know there's been a lot of requests for a video to this song. I used to love the song. Now it just pisses me off! hahaha.

Listening to this at 2 in the morning reminds me of the memories I will never find
Wow! Sent shivers down my spine and nearly cried at the end.
I read the comments before I watched the video and everyone seemed to be commenting on about how they teared up and all. I'm thinking "Theres no way a 5 min RUclips video could make me cry".

That lady was almost me. That song was playing in my car when I was found passed out by someone who took my car keys away and then called paramedics. My boyfriend picked up my car while I was at the hospital and that song was on. (that was 3 months ago-I went to a month of inpatient treatment and still doing great). He learned it on guitar and sang it to me tonight at his band practice. I asked him why he picked that song and that's when he told me. That video hit home. Great job!
Really touching... Made me think a lot.

This song reminds me of my relationship with my ex girlfriend. 5 month from now I made a video with this music and with all our pictures, to never forget how beautiful was our love. You really did a good job, I almost cried.

@Bracey100 hahaha i know.. I love the drama! Thanks so much man! i agree on the dolly.. i was using the world's worst DIY slider lol. And I shot this right during the time I was learning about DOF.. I shot the first half with a stock lens and then it cuts to the nicer shots with the blurrier backgrounds for his flashback. I didn't really intend it that way, but it kinda works out :)

Some examples: the part where the camera rolls by the windows to show separate snippets of fights (I thought that was a brilliant idea, btw!!) there’s Mike in a shirt and a tie doing an overload of expressive gestures while Liz is just standing there watching him as she chugs down on some type of liquor! I thought that was a tad overdone if not a little unrealistic.
That would show that they argued often, and that maybe their relationship fell apart. The end scene also came a bit abruptly, but that could also be fixed with more footage of the male character cut in, perhaps at the funeral.
There are also many things you could have done in post to visually convey the flashbacks, like color grading, and vignetting.

ah, thanks! I really appreciate constructive criticism like this. I obviously don't think it's my best film and I agree that the acting is overdone, but I've gotten a lot better since this which was more than 2 years ago when I shot it! @roardinoson7 haha thank you. have you seen 'I Have A Rose'? thats my favorite right now. I'll also be doing at least 2 more videos off that album this year. I'm just taking a short break now because I worked on my first feature length movie for a full year hahaha
No, not to go all black and white or sepia, but more subtle color grading. Changing the balance of colors, crushing the blacks, contrast, brightness, ect to convey a mood.

So overall, it truly was the acting that needs the critiquing. You probably didn’t have a lot of time to perfect everything, but I thought the end product turned out pretty good. And I don’t mean to put down any of the actors (I hope that I used their names correctly), but they should see how they did, hone in on their mistakes, and perfect their skills. Thank you for uploading the video! I think I shall subscribe to you…

you're right, those are all things that could have been done better. to be honest, this is one of my least favorite videos in my showreel; it's too basic of a storyline. I did change the flashbacks to a 35mm adapter for shallow DOF compared to the deep focus of the rest of the video. I didnt want to add a sepia or b&w filter if that's what youre suggesting. I try to give the audience a little respect in being able to figure out what's going on rather than spoonfeeding them recycled plot devices.

Also, the part where Liz is sitting in her chair contemplating and stressing over her situation came off as if she was too conscious of your camera on her. If you take note of some of her facial expressions at 1:03, you'll find that she was noticeably aware of your cameras, which is a shame because that scene was to be a very important scene for the rest of your video.

Actually found the camera work quite good, if not very good. I think the only thing that stopped your short from being great is some of the exaggerations in the acting.

why the fuck didnt he call the 911???
Well, part of it is that the video doesn't really do a great job of conveying the message of the song. I felt like the editing and cinematography style you used was to convey a flashback, but I felt like you could have cut in more scenes of the male character present day to drive the idea that he regretted what he did forward, or maybe even visually hint something went wrong with the woman. I also felt there could have been more occurrences of them arguing, or more locations in the house, maybe.

I'm sorry man, but this video was kinda bad... I like the song of course, and it's the only high-quality upload on youtube right now, so you got my view.

Try 20 years, 2 daughters, post-partum psychosis, survived suicide, forced to divorce, breached my covenant, became my own attorney thanks to OR Law, Stigma of mental health as my life sentence, won my modification and religion decision, been doing swell; remember, a fellow guitarist/singer of mine lost his wife to suicide. Their daughter is also 13 like my youngest. It could've been me, but you're a narcissist!

it was just awkward. I felt like subtlety speaks volumes and a lot of the acting seemed over dramatic, and the arguments are too stuttered. Not a lot of passionate, heated arguments are yell, wait turn, yell. it's just a lot of yelling. seemed like a really polite anger... it was just weird for me.
