Not many people know what the song is really about, not even many Muse fans. Matt has said (on one occasion about 22 years ago) that the song is about admiring how a child can radiate happiness. "Everything about you resonates happiness". Just pure joy and bliss, without having to worry about anything, without any adult responsibilites, without having been exposed to stuff in life yet. And he said that he misses that feeling of being a child and would want to experience it again as an adult. "Everything about you is so easy to love, they're watching you from above" literally means adults looking down at children and loving them. "Everything about you is how I'd wanna be, your freedom comes naturally". A child can be completely in the moment, completely free, and be happy. And Matt envies that. "Everything about you pains my envying". He wants that for himself. "Give me all the peace and joy in your mind, I want the peace and joy in your mind". We've all had that when we were kids, but we grew out of it slowly. We can remember things from our childhood, but none of us really remember what it felt like being a child and what that carefree state of mind was like. "Your soul can't hate anything". A child is incapable of hating anything or anyone the same way adults are. If something hurts a child, they might cry for a minute, but they will forget it in an instant and go on living their blissful, happy existence without growing to hate it. Another interesting thing is that the background synth track is pretty much stolen from the theme music to a 1992 kids video game called Top Gear for the Super Nintendo (not that anyone ever sued Matt over it). Literally a game for kids. And a third interesting fact: In the early 2000's, they used to play this song live all the time with those huge balloons unleashed upon the audience about halfway through the song. Those balloons are literally something that kids would go crazy over, not adults, because adults don't care about balloons. Kids would jump up and down out of joy if they had balloons like that. But so did the audience. For a brief moment, the people in the audience got to feel that bliss and joy of being a child, lost in the present moment. All in all, it's a song about kids! :D

This video was burned into the mind of little three year old me, who watched it along with his elder brother. Fascinated by this nonsense - foreign languages do that - that the mysterious bright red-haired man was singing, I dreamed of the spatial station-like cushion interior or of this pit long's fall more times than I can count. And I remember truly pondering how he fell to space, and wondering if that could be done in real life. As well as being scared and curious to do it myself. I remembered all of that only two years ago, when he showed me the video again. Man, the nostalgia rush that was.
I love this song because it makes me think of my best friend. He is such a cool person. Everyone who meets him likes him. He projects happiness onto everyone he meets. I loved how they used that note at 3:55 sparingly and waited to use it. You know there was just something in me itching for that note to hit in the song then they finally deliver. Thats what i love about them. They keep you subconsciously waiting for something you dont even know is about to pop up in the song. Like on new born the first time i heard it i was so excited when the dirty distortion dropped in as i love grunge music
I love the way you said that. I never realised why something about this song frustrated me so much. Every time i listen to it I don't want it to end and wish it was as long as Matts fall, but for some unexplainable reason i also just want them to hurry up till the end. Now i finally get why!
This song is their best song. It's a complete masterpiece. It's also in their best album origin of symmetry. I've known muse since 2004. I met Matt and Dom in 2006. Anyways here is a quote that will free you: "Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves." - Buddha
Such a great song! When I first heard it I felt like I've heard it somewhere before... I had the same feeling with Mercy, Undisclosed desires, New born, Starlight, etc. But this song is something special...
Mercy is from the Batman Arkham Knight ads, and I'm sure all the other songs you listed were used for that sort of thing too. Muse is good at those kind of songs. Knights of Cydonia was used for Halo 5 ads, Uprising was in Pitch Perfect 2, Supermassive Black Hole was in Twilight, and... Hmm help me think of more
rc whiutman I think "feels" is an understatement. It's more like a *piercing* *your* *soul* *and* *dragging* *it* *out* *into* *another* *dimension* kinda feeling.
+efrazable that too, they made many good songs, i could name many other songs like new born, apocalypse please, supermassive black hole and many more : )
Towards the end of the song, is like the song itself just sings to your soul, taking away all the troubles that surround you. Just closing your eyes, hearing the final end of the song, is like taking you somewhere far away, away from the hell of the world, into a sea of calm and beauty.
In case someone else was asking his/herself how long should be the hole through which Matt is falling (if he were in similar conditions to Earth): about 8 km. According to Wikipedia, the terminal velocity of a skydiver in a belly-to-earth (i.e., face down) free-fall position is about 195 km/h (122 mph or 54 m/s). So: 2,5 min x 60 s/min x 54 m/s = 8 100 m = 8,1 km
matt cornfield Wow. I couldn't thank him more. You must also be very awesome through genetics and therefore must produce lots of good music like John. This album is has an absolutely unique sound. In my top 10 across all genres.
I do not like spamming the same as you do, however make yourself a favor give it a shot *watch?v=kFDMJa_fZt0* You absolutely should try it out! See the youtube URL, you'll like it so much!!!
The first song I heard from them, I was half asleep, it actually felt like some weird dream, I didn't even know who they were back then, but I became a fan as soon as I found out who they were. Still my favorite Muse song.
Eve of my half century. I feel bloody old, but thankful I'm still here. Thank you Muse, you've been with me through my breakdown and my best of times. #50
+razwu85 I guess it was after kurt cobain that all english speakers began to sing about broken love and that kind of shit... songs from the past where better...
+razwu85 I think it has a more of an emotional idealism to it, sort of spiritual even. Love comes into it, but not just of the romantic, or even family and friends kind.
Hey Brendan, totally agree and it could also be the best song EVER!! By the way if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too :) hope you can spare a minute to check us out here: ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
This is absolutely my favourite song. And it's even the first song I've heard and discovered them. I was 13 years old. Listen to it, resuscitate such memories in my head...
I found this song about a few years ago, and I honestly don't know how to say this, but the words, not just a few lines, but all of them, is exactly what I am like, it made me cry when my bf first played it for me. He told me when he first met me, that Bliss was his theme song, and about me. Ive spent countless years meditating, and ive been void of hate for 4 years now. When I tell people that they laugh at me, but I only have one response, and as a pre-response to any trolls or haters: "If you only knew what I know." and any further comments will be met with a redundant *shrugs* "meh"
Legend has it, if you jump, as you fall into nothingness you experience a state pure bliss. The people who don’t want to die watch from the anti-gravity chambers, trying to simulate the feeling. They watch him take the leap, the biggest act of freedom a person can take. Control of their death, and giving it all to feel the pure bliss. And so he falls into nothingness, and legend was right, it was indescribable beauty and bliss… he dies with a smile on his face.

I remember in 2009 when undisclosed desires was broadcasted on tv all day I used to skip it... Now I feel ashamed of not having listened at it with more attention, this band is really nice and it's when I listened this song and hysteria that I thought muse is a great band Thank you, you three guys :-)
I loved Muse for 15 years and heard undisclosed desires when it first came out. Was always a song I also skipped all the time until hearing it for the first time in years a few months ago and cannot stop listening to it. It truly is a masterpiece and I don't understand why there are so many people that don't like it.
This music video is great, and I still don't understand how did they make it... I mean, how did they do the background scroll behind Matt? And also how did they do to make him move? I thought it was just a green screen and he was lying on the floor but it appears not, I don't get it...
I was SO happy to hear this song LIVE during Drones tour in Canada. When I heard the first notes I was like... I can not describe what I felt. I was never hoping to whittness it live (I discovered Muse in 2011-ish when they almost never played these songs), but it happened, I heard it live, and I will never forget that. I heard it LIVE. Aaand Citizen Erased during another show. I went to three shows in a row. One in Toronto, after that I travelled to Montreal to see another two concerts. And I was in the crowd in the first row, at the barrier, during both of the shows. And I saw Bliss and Citizen Erased LIVE. It felt like I could have died there, what an experience
This is my song I want for my passing out. Symphony No 3 for the start. It may seem macabre but I want it etched in my families memories because it is me and my love for true composer that is Mr Bellamy
Sorry but this videoclip makes me think about depression. A hole where you fall and you take so much time to go out from it. Indeed this song speaks about happy subjects. Love this song ❤
The song doesn't sing about happy subjects. The subject of the song is someone that is extremely happy but the narrator is not extremely happy, he is jealous of this other person.
Can’t blame you hamburger dude. Probably best song ever written. By the way if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too :) hope you can spare a minute to check us out here: ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
He’s concentrating it’s fine and normal when you’re singing as most times when people are recording music videos they actually sing along with the song playing as it looks more natural on video
Easily one of the most underrated Muse songs. I’ve known them for more than half my life, (I’m 12) and this is the one barely anyone talks about. The first 4 albums are amazing, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them. Love this band.

Now i finally get why!
it's certainly a masterful composition!
This song is their best song. It's a complete masterpiece. It's also in their best album origin of symmetry. I've known muse since 2004. I met Matt and Dom in 2006. Anyways here is a quote that will free you:
"Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves." - Buddha
You clearly have not listened to plug in baby
I think too it's one of their best, simple yet very solid song, very dreamy and inspiring
Buddha could suggest that cognitive therapy really works))
Such a great song! When I first heard it I felt like I've heard it somewhere before... I had the same feeling with Mercy, Undisclosed desires, New born, Starlight, etc. But this song is something special...
I'll tell you where: Top Gear, SNES.
Potato on Fedora. No way, I even don't know what are these
Mercy is from the Batman Arkham Knight ads, and I'm sure all the other songs you listed were used for that sort of thing too. Muse is good at those kind of songs. Knights of Cydonia was used for Halo 5 ads, Uprising was in Pitch Perfect 2, Supermassive Black Hole was in Twilight, and... Hmm help me think of more
Maria Ayanyan/My Chemical Muse Fan i can tell your a muse fan I see on every video on muse
elizabet msnyder you're right)
BEST SONG EVER
Seriously might be the best song of all time. I get so many feels from it.
rc whiutman I think "feels" is an understatement. It's more like a *piercing* *your* *soul* *and* *dragging* *it* *out* *into* *another* *dimension* kinda feeling.
rc whiutman Know exactly what you are talking about.. Song is an emotion bombshell
i like "time is running out" more
I grew up listening to muse, my parents introduced me to them. our dog was called Bliss, may he Rest in peace 🙏 I love this song so much
Such a great name.
My Dog was named TIRO. May he and bliss rest in peace in Doggy heaven.
Muse is so freakin awesome.
Yes!
this song makes me feel like i'm in space too! one of their best, alongside with knights of cydonia and stockholm syndrome.
not Space Dementia?
+efrazable that too, they made many good songs, i could name many other songs like new born, apocalypse please, supermassive black hole and many more : )
+Marko mrđen probably because she's Dead Inside
Don't forget Glorious! Don't you Forget Glorious, dammit!
+Felipe Salvatierra never heard that one. from wich album it is from?
How do I even describe how this music makes me feel?
*insert Keyboard-smash*
Keyboard smash?
+Sofie Haga DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINES
wait, not that kind of keyboard
well you need to be chewing five gum, because this is what it feels to chew five gum
+Sofie Haga It feels like bliss
Holy Fuck that repeated five times
2:38 gives me freakin chills. Breath taking! Everything about MUSE is so easy to love.
This song is so great it gives me the piss and joy out of pure excitement
ahaha he is right :D
This song just made me burst into tears in class....... it's so fucking incredible.
that must be hard to explain
wow
Scrub.
"Everything about you resonates happiness." I love this so much.
muse always have mind blowing music videos
Looks so good for 2001
My mother: "Is he falling down or up?"
Me: "There is no up and down in space."
There is no air too.
@@aaaaaa7955 space station is not space
How beautiful is that !!!
Nah, he's falling down, or falling away, your choice
Your mother: in space nobody can hear you scream
I just refound Muse.. I love it. Every single song of em.. all of it..
Perfect
OMG i love u, thanks.
My dad produced Origin of Symmetry :D
matt cornfield David Bottrill, John Leckie? Either way awesome. my dad just produces pies :)
matt cornfield fucking genious
Cameron K The world needs pies. That's fucking awesome too.
All tracks mixed by John Cornfield and Muse, Awesomeee
matt cornfield Wow. I couldn't thank him more. You must also be very awesome through genetics and therefore must produce lots of good music like John. This album is has an absolutely unique sound. In my top 10 across all genres.
How can this have only 11 million?
TOP GEAR *.*
I do not like spamming the same as you do, however make yourself a favor give it a shot
*watch?v=kFDMJa_fZt0*
You absolutely should try it out!
See the youtube URL, you'll like it so much!!!
"only 11 million" some of the music I listen to only has 300 views...
Robin Powell Such as...
SnakeEater866 A few songs from Android Lust's latest album, The Human Animal.
The first song I heard from them, I was half asleep, it actually felt like some weird dream, I didn't even know who they were back then, but I became a fan as soon as I found out who they were. Still my favorite Muse song.
that intro smells like bliss spirit
Imagine this song came up in 70s or 80s it would be blow our minds.
Then people accuse Radiohead for copying Muse lol
@@zackzallie8735 🤣
It would alternate history
This is the best song to listen to on a train and just watch the scenery go by.
Eve of my half century. I feel bloody old, but thankful I'm still here. Thank you Muse, you've been with me through my breakdown and my best of times. #50
I can explain how much i love this song... Simply Muse
this is a metaphore for a desperate unshared love.anyone who knows the feeling i'm sure agrees with me.awesome song!
sounds about right.
Adolfo Roman purist. People can sing what they want so they do.
This has always been my favorite Muse song, Change my mind.
Hey Brendan, totally agree and it could also be the best song EVER!! By the way if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too :) hope you can spare a minute to check us out here: ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
Mine too
Same here
Этот голос бесподобен!!! Он сопровождает мою жизнь 💜☘️
Clip producer: How far do you want to fall?
Matt: Yes
This is honestly such a beautiful and surreal song? I love it so much, and tbh it’s like in my top 5
This is absolutely my favourite song. And it's even the first song I've heard and discovered them. I was 13 years old. Listen to it, resuscitate such memories in my head...
Mine was Starlight and I was 13
First muse song I have ever heard. It blown me away. And then I heard the whole album and really entered the XXI century.
*****
Thank you? You seem sarcastic. . .
*****
Oh, well thank you very much then V^___^V
Maxwell Rodgers shut up
This song is about a man's view of a woman.
So, what do you know?
Legend has it, if you jump, as you fall into nothingness you experience a state pure bliss. The people who don’t want to die watch from the anti-gravity chambers, trying to simulate the feeling. They watch him take the leap, the biggest act of freedom a person can take. Control of their death, and giving it all to feel the pure bliss.
And so he falls into nothingness, and legend was right, it was indescribable beauty and bliss… he dies with a smile on his face.
Vocals, guitar, bass, drums. All spot on. Muse ticks all the boxes 😊👍
These guys are a pure treasure. Definetly worth it seeing them live. Matt has a hell of a voice. 🔥🔥🔥
les premiers albums de Muse c'était vraiment autre chose , du vrai rock anglais et un son inimitable ;)
T'as raison. Je les préfère que les albums nouveaux.
+gelan057 wth is going on here😂
I like both, new and old
Ouais
Bliss is my favorite Muse song and one of my favorites from anyone, ever. It's masterful.
this is my all time favorite of theirs, i cried when i heard it live :’)
Same here...I remember when he played the first chord and went in tears. By the way if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too :) hope you can spare a minute to check us out here: ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
que bien se siente volver a escuchar todos los albumes, teniendo tiempo en esta epoca de cuarentena!
Hola Fernando! If you like Muse maybe you enjoy our sound too? Please have a look here and let us know! ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
How does this only have 76k likes?? It should have billions 😭
Well, if it has that many likes that means how many people like it. It's common sense, dude.
+Abigail Burke I know I'm saying its underrated lmao
Iswift 8522 underrated by billions. If only the human species could let muse open their minds and souls
Stacy Stroker hehe SOOOUUUL
Ione NeverSleeps exactly :(
I think the reason is because the people in this days like badly music like reggaetón
:(
This will forever be both my favourite song and music video.
I remember in 2009 when undisclosed desires was broadcasted on tv all day I used to skip it...
Now I feel ashamed of not having listened at it with more attention, this band is really nice and it's when I listened this song and hysteria that I thought muse is a great band
Thank you, you three guys :-)
I loved Muse for 15 years and heard undisclosed desires when it first came out. Was always a song I also skipped all the time until hearing it for the first time in years a few months ago and cannot stop listening to it. It truly is a masterpiece and I don't understand why there are so many people that don't like it.
This music video is great, and I still don't understand how did they make it...
I mean, how did they do the background scroll behind Matt? And also how did they do to make him move?
I thought it was just a green screen and he was lying on the floor but it appears not, I don't get it...
And also, for the vein on his forehead, is it on purpose or is he just skinny?
actinid14 I've been sticking with them for 9 years
actinid14 in case you haven't found out yourself since your post: there's a "making of" of the Bliss video on their channel
I saw them play this song live 2 weeks ago when they played in Phoenix, and it really caught me off guard. It was such a powerful performance.
This is the best song ever made period.
For me, one of the best muse songs. The atmosphere is incredible
This never gets old.
2022 and it's still fresh
This is my song I want for my passing out. Symphony No 3 for the start. It may seem macabre but I want it etched in my families memories because it is me and my love for true composer that is Mr Bellamy
Top Gear!!!
kkkk
Sorry but this videoclip makes me think about depression. A hole where you fall and you take so much time to go out from it. Indeed this song speaks about happy subjects. Love this song ❤
Falling into depression can help you SOAR above all the pain and suffering in the world.
The song doesn't sing about happy subjects. The subject of the song is someone that is extremely happy but the narrator is not extremely happy, he is jealous of this other person.
@@ajdoyle9559 Thank you for this explanation. It seems like I didn't really understand what was this song about
Happy 20 years Bliss ❤️
I never get tired of this song..
2019...and still love this masterpiece
Can’t blame you hamburger dude. Probably best song ever written. By the way if you like Muse you might enjoy our sound too :) hope you can spare a minute to check us out here: ruclips.net/video/Scl0E5NEiBo/видео.html
2021 but
@vpresss1580 2023 but
Muse - Bliss
or:
Muse - Matt Bellamy falling and spinning for 4:28 minutes
Matt Bellamy falling and spinning for 4:28 minutes... blissfully
He wants the bliss
Tambien
Coming back to Muse after some years is magic. I grew up with them when I couldnt even speak English or understand the lyrics. So happy to be back
I can't stop looking at the vein in his forehead...I'm just like...damn...calm down, bro. You're gonna pop it.
Same lol
He's falling from a height of millions of kilometres. It's normal if he's nervous. 🤣
He’s concentrating it’s fine and normal when you’re singing as most times when people are recording music videos they actually sing along with the song playing as it looks more natural on video
+
My Chemical Romance Will Pierce The Veil
I see you on so many videos.
At 1:49 they putt extra make up for the Forehead vein or suppurate it probably
This album, abstract, black holes and revelations, and resistance are masterpiece of art
This was the time that Matt saw a
Supermassive black hole
Easily one of the most underrated Muse songs. I’ve known them for more than half my life, (I’m 12) and this is the one barely anyone talks about. The first 4 albums are amazing, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them. Love this band.
пройдет лет 20 и ты будешь видеть в этих стихах и другие смыслы💓😉
они гениальные🌍💓💓💓
You have a great taste in music
Nice taste in music! I'd say Fury id definitely their most underrated song.
@@Kaleb._ Fury is so good 🤘🏻
Wow, finally a person around my age that has some great music tastes
