This song epitomizes what I love about muse, the contrast of heavy riffs and high energy with big orchestral sound and enchanting vocals
Yes. That sums it up the best
The best way to describe this song is Beautiful Destruction.

Nobody realizes the real secret to muse is DAT BASS.
I know right! The bass is so important, and it makes up a third of all their songs

most bands dont have the balls to save the best part of the song for the very end
Not sure if there is a 'best part' of this song. The whole thing is nuts.
Same as making it sound like the start is like a middle of a song and starting extremely loud
smashing pumpkins does that too
don't ever compare smashing pumpkins to muse. that is like comparing a broken doll to AFL football.
the start of the loud part, is one of the most bad arse things I've ever heard in music. that includes doc neeson's pre-song rantings and ramblings and bon scott..........bon scott just doing anything.
the whole song rocks, but that base drum and snare drum, and then the 2 chords - that bit is fucking awesome. like, whole song is fucking awesome, of course it is, it's muse, but yeah, that bit is 200 times more orgasmic.

This is the heaviest gentle song ever
You should listen to the ERRA cover of it
the keyboard arpeggios in the chorus is one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened to in music
It's a piano. And yes i love this sound in this song.
That synth makes me feel the song is a new one every time i listen to it. I just won't get tired of Muse. Never.
Clement Verlaque The one panned on left is definitely a keyboard and I'm quite sure he was talking about that. Piano is panned on right :d
Locke give me your suggestions
Try Dream Theater's Systematic Chaos :D They apparently were very much inspired by Muse. Actually,at some point in 'In the Presence of Enemies' you can hear almost identical keyboard arpeggio.
I won't stand in your way
Let your hatred grow
And she'll scream
And she'll shout
And she'll pray
And she had a name
Yeah she had a name
And I won't hold you back
Let your anger rise
And we'll fly
And we'll fall
And we'll burn
No one will recall
No one will recall
This is the last time I'll abandon you
And this is the last time I'll forget you
I wish I could
Look to the stars
Let hope burn in your eyes
And we'll love
And we'll hate
And we'll die
All to no avail
All to no avail

Psychologist: "all dreams have a meaning"
My dreams:
@anomie nous Somebody is 12 and thinks they're smarter than other people on the internet. How fun
Sick
@anomie nous I completely agree with 99% of the above, I've always wondered though how does the subconscious play into dreams, some people I have spoken to and I myself have had experiences with "Warnings" in dreams and "Almost premonitions", my theory is that the subconscious (sometimes) primes us for what it perceives as the most probable set of events to unfold with the stimulus it has received in days prior, perhaps it is even information your subconscious picked up on and "stored away" and your more thoughtful "system 2" (coined by Daniel Kahneman) then pieced that information together during a dream into said probable set of events, the only part of your statement above I disagree with is the way in which you worded it, "Meaning" is arguably subjective, where you may find no "meaning" I may disagree, just a tad on the nihilistic side there pal.
❤️❤️❤️
@anomie nous literally anyone who has ever been to school knows this, stop trying to sound clever

This is the most musically violent thing i've ever heard. I like it.
I advise if you ever find yourself about to come upon the music of Mayhem, Darkthrone or Napalm Death you turn away immediately. If this is the most musically violent thing you've heard, they will probably trigger a seizure.
Tremuoso I just listened to a track of Napalm Death. Honestly, i find it kinda boring.
***** I'm actually quite a fan of progressive metal. Bands like Haken, Dream Theater, etc. Occasionally goth metal, but most other genres of metal are boring. I just can't listen too long to death metal and that sort of stuff. Too monotonic
***** The whole dynamics of the song make it very intense i guess, i'm not sure
chsxtian Things that make me lose a little faith in humanity one scrap at a time;
1. people that could say, in earnest, that they find Muse musically challenging and Napalm Death boring.
2. Muse.

I first heard this song when I was 7 and I was all like: MOM GO BACK GO BACK TOO EDGY. Fast forward a couple years and it’s my third favorite Muse song!
people say that the video is shitty yet they dont get the meaning. Knowing that Muse have a meaning for everything they should know that this video was meant for exactly what the title says. People who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome see their surroundings in a different way as they don't want to see the reality. In this video the images they portray with the thermal camera are not a reality. Then the background beatings and the words prisoner, captured, and fuck all add up to the Syndromes meaning. Its just awesome how Muse portray all these things in just one song and video. They really are the best.
Um... Stockholm Syndrome is when you're taken hostage and start to sympathise with the criminal if he doesn't harm you.
CruciatusVXS Exacly they sympathize with their captor and they block all their outside surroundings they only focus on the captor and that is how that emotional bond starts because they tell themselves something else rather that reality.
***** true, except for "they tell themselves". stockholm syndrome is a mental coping/survival mechanism. one doesn't decide or tells him/herself anything, as the conscious layer and thoughts around the given condition, stems from the subconscius. When the same person, or group of ppl, who is forcing and abusing the victim- are also the ones to feed, bath, decide when he sees sunlight, and keep him alive in all aspects- in other words, when reality surpasses all nightmares, and your attacker is also your only guardian and beam of hope, this is very likely to happen. especially when pre-intended [like in the case of captive soldiers]. Everyone has a breaking point.
Guess who else is the best? Me cause I'm your 50th like ;)

The video is about a syndrome
Where you have a couple.
One of the couple (ect the female) gets beaten by her partner but cant stop going back to him and still has feelings for him.
Its rarely diagnosed but the first case was found in Sweden.
Sorry but no, stockholm syndrome isn't per se about a couple, and not at all about poeple beating each other (in a couple). A stockholm syndrome is when a person or a group of persons get's kidnapped or taken hostage, and by the work of time, manipulation or just the emotions that the kidnapper let's get through they start to think they understand his feelings, they start to think that he is right, that what he is doing is right. But it rarely is.
And the name came from a bank robbery where most of the hostages defended the kidnappers even after a six day long hostage situation.
Mityc Ouroboros actually, Sinead is right in the context of this song. Your definition is correct, but Muse used the title in another meaning.
Using words in ways they aren't intended doesn't mean they become real...
