      don't ever compare smashing pumpkins to muse. that is like comparing a broken doll to AFL football.
      the start of the loud part, is one of the most bad arse things I've ever heard in music. that includes doc neeson's pre-song rantings and ramblings and bon scott..........bon scott just doing anything.
      the whole song rocks, but that base drum and snare drum, and then the 2 chords - that bit is fucking awesome. like, whole song is fucking awesome, of course it is, it's muse, but yeah, that bit is 200 times more orgasmic.

      @anomie nous I completely agree with 99% of the above, I've always wondered though how does the subconscious play into dreams, some people I have spoken to and I myself have had experiences with "Warnings" in dreams and "Almost premonitions", my theory is that the subconscious (sometimes) primes us for what it perceives as the most probable set of events to unfold with the stimulus it has received in days prior, perhaps it is even information your subconscious picked up on and "stored away" and your more thoughtful "system 2" (coined by Daniel Kahneman) then pieced that information together during a dream into said probable set of events, the only part of your statement above I disagree with is the way in which you worded it, "Meaning" is arguably subjective, where you may find no "meaning" I may disagree, just a tad on the nihilistic side there pal.

    people say that the video is shitty yet they dont get the meaning. Knowing that Muse have a meaning for everything they should know that this video was meant for exactly what the title says. People who suffer from Stockholm Syndrome see their surroundings in a different way as they don't want to see the reality. In this video the images they portray with the thermal camera are not a reality. Then the background beatings and the words prisoner, captured,and fuck all add up to the Syndromes meaning. Its just awesome how Muse portray all these things in just one song and video. They really are the best.

    • @CruciatusVXS
      @CruciatusVXS 9 лет назад

      Um... Stockholm Syndrome is when you're taken hostage and start to sympathise with the criminal if he doesn't harm you.

      @estephaniereyesvega9017 9 лет назад +18

      CruciatusVXS Exacly they sympathize with their captor and they block all their outside surroundings they only focus on the captor and that is how that emotional bond starts because they tell themselves something else rather that reality.

    • @AnnaN8
      @AnnaN8 9 лет назад +11

      ***** true, except for "they tell themselves". stockholm syndrome is a mental coping/survival mechanism. one doesn't decide or tells him/herself anything, as the conscious layer and thoughts around the given condition, stems from the subconscius. When the same person, or group of ppl, who is forcing and abusing the victim- are also the ones to feed, bath, decide when he sees sunlight, and keep him alive in all aspects- in other words, when reality surpasses all nightmares, and your attacker is also your only guardian and beam of hope, this is very likely to happen. especially when pre-intended [like in the case of captive soldiers]. Everyone has a breaking point.

    The video is about a syndrome
    Where you have a couple.
    One of the couple (ect the female) gets beaten by her partner but cant stop going back to him and still has feelings for him.
    Its rarely diagnosed but the first case was found in Sweden.

    • @ouroboros2519
      @ouroboros2519 9 лет назад +28

      Sorry but no, stockholm syndrome isn't per se about a couple, and not at all about poeple beating each other (in a couple). A stockholm syndrome is when a person or a group of persons get's kidnapped or taken hostage, and by the work of time, manipulation or just the emotions that the kidnapper let's get through they start to think they understand his feelings, they start to think that he is right, that what he is doing is right. But it rarely is.
      And the name came from a bank robbery where most of the hostages defended the kidnappers even after a six day long hostage situation.

    I love this song for its blistering verses and bridge and its borderline ethereal and dreamlike chorus

      A big thank you to all my fans!
      What will my name and career be without all of your love and support?
      Amidst my darkest days you all stood by me,
      I don't have all the time in the world to reply, but i do read your heartwarming comments and i truly appreciate all.
      It's the season of love
      & so i decided to put smiles on the faces of my fans by going through old posts on my official page and hitting up random fans,
      So i can get to relate with my fans better through discussions of depth and humour, listening to compliments and criticisms on my career walk.
