I remember this game I lived near Old Town Orange at the time I was just an 11-year-old kid I rode my bicycle over to the Stadium I always had Rams and Angels season tickets as a kid. Lots of good times
The good ol” baseball infield in the middle of the football field.. probably was hell to play on..I imagine the views in the stadium weren’t great either since the sight lines were built with baseball in mind. The 90s was an era of expansion and relocation for the NFL and owners that shared their field with baseball we’re pushing hard for new stadiums with the threat of relocation. That’s one of the reasons St.Louis was able to get the Rams.
I was at this game. My dad would get us season tickets every year. I was disappointed the Rams lost but I had to admit, it was a pretty entertaining game. Other than the Super Bowl, this is the game I think of when I hear Rams vs Bengals.
That endzone dive was deadly and could have gone wrong, you see why the NFL has had an issue with concussions and head injuries. They have such inefficiency with teaching players&coaching staff and holding them accountable for player safety. The defender could have easily just stood up and forced him back.
Not really, this wasn’t 1970s football. The game really opened up in the 80s. Marino and Fouts were putting up numbers like this. It’s not wide open like today but this idea that the game was stuffy and run first until like 2010 is largely a myth. It was well balanced until the mid 2000s.
What a game. 582 yards of total offense by the Cincinnati bengals. I personally think boomer esiason should be in the hall of fame. Nobody did play action like him
For those that don’t know or weren’t around soon after this game The Bengals season would be enveloped in controversy due to Sam Wyche banning women reporters from their locker room.
I am from Cincinnati the Bengals were pretty good that year they won a playoff game against Houston and then got beat the next week and ended Bo Jackson's career the raiders beat them 20 to 10
3:02 Did I just see an official fire a cap gun designating the end of the first quarter? I don't remember seeing that before.
Throwback game suggestions for this week:
Lions/Packers 1993 NFC Wild Card Game
Dolphins/Bills: 1994 Week 14 SNF
Broncos/Bears 2007 Week 11 (Devin Hester 2x touchdown returns)
Washington/Philadelphia 1992 Week 16 (win and in)
Lions Packers week 18 2018

Both of these teams were soon on their way to irrelevance for much of the 90s
And 32 years later they became Super Bowl opponents
The Bengals became the Bungles and the Rams moved from Los Angeles to St. Louis in 1995.
The bengals, 1 year later, would begin the Decade from hell
@@TheGameCube64GuyAnd the Rams would win the Super Bowl in 1999
Boomer and Everett got old fast.
The two teams with arguably the prettiest jerseys in the NFL.
The real surprise is how much shoulder pads have shrunk since the 90s.
Fact: Both of these teams lost to the 49ers in the biggest possible game they could both be in. Niners in SB23 and the Niners in the NFCCG in 89.
@WhoDey-mf2lc Beat the Lambs tonight and I'll edit the comment to just "fact" 😉

NFL Throwback Never Disappoints Keep Up The Good Work.
Wow! Chris Evert can really spin it!
Jim was a pretty good Quarterback a lot of people forget about. Most people just remember the Jim Rome incident.
He was okay but he never made it out of the NFC
Boomer Esiason and Jim Everett going head to head in this underrated matchup
Check that Chris Everett good to have you on the show.
@@eugenesatele9434Jim Rome stinks as a host. I remember that one
@@sports3117 Yeah that dude was focusing only on himself and kinda gave a glimpse on media today.
@@eugenesatele9434My respect for Everett grew exponentially after that. Rome is still a jerk
@@eugenesatele9434I Absolutely Agree With You.
490 yards in 1990 is insane

AND OLD FASHIONED NFL 🏈 SHOOTOUT ..
Am I the only one who glad they got rid of that annoying clock at the bottom left corner?
The Bengals were in the Super Bowl only 2 years prior so they were still a pretty solid looking team.
BTW I will say that Henry Ellard should be in the HOF. Put up some impressive numbers despite having to deal with inconsistency at QB in his career.
Why is Wyche dressed like he just got off a ten hour shift at the local sawmill?!

@codyhess5390 i wouldn't put namath in. Also, check your spelling, genius
Remember Steve DeBerg?
Good player. But he's no HOF'er.
Holding on to the ball not much of a priority those days, ha.

Hidden Gem? This was one of the most anticipated games of the early 90 season
Cincinnati Bengals Against Los Angeles Rams Last Meeting In 1993 At Riverfront Stadium Thanks For Uploading
Superbowl rematch here we go
Turn the fumble sliders down jeez
One of four games the Bengals would play IN So Cal that year…they beat the two blue & golds, lost twice to the silver & black.
Vince Newsome went to the same high school as me. He was a sophomore when I was a senior. He was in my sister's HS class.
Super Bowl 56 preview
Shame those Rams went down the toilet after the 1989 season for a decade. Real shame :)
Blame it on the defense
@@FireyninjadogBlame it on Jim Everett. He was never the same after the 89 NFC Championship game
@cbod14 he made the Pro Bowl in 1990, but yeah, definitely regression in the 90s
THIS WAS INTERESTING............
I love boomer Esiason he is the 3rd best QB on the bengals only behind Joe Burrow and Ken Anderson
Eric Dickerson said he never played with a good quarterback

even 33 years ago the rams couldnt tackle
is that Cris Everett at QB?
Yeah, But Actually That's Jim Everett
nbc
Isn't this the game that Sam Wyche got his panties in a bunch about women reporters in the locker room?
