    My favourite cleaning hack while motorhoming is, wiping the grime off plates with handy towels if necessary after meals. Much easier to clean the dishes and less grime going into the grey waste Win/Win 👍

      That’s a good one! We recently blocked our hepo valve as a result of stuff going down the sink. It was not fun to clean out haha 🙄

    Hubby has the best hack I recon... he uses a rubber cake scraper to scrape the food off the dishes before washing them. Saves on paper towels.

    Mrs Gary here again. I know the comp is closed, but I just remembered one cleaning tool I use for things like sticker adhesive from labels and certs, and bee poo that lands on the outside of the caravan which can be difficult to remove. Instead of using a solvent or an abrasive, sometimes rubbing with a vegetable oil will remove the sticky. Just remember to clean afterwards with dishwashing detergent and warm water to get rid of any oily residuals.

    • @AdventuresWithRosy
      @AdventuresWithRosy  6 месяцев назад

      Ah that is a very good tip! New caravans are covered in stickers and some of the ones we peeled off left lots of residue! I’ll have that a go 😁

    I do what I did when I had 12 days in the Nevada desert.
    All my dishes are scraped, then wiped clean with a disinfectant wet wipe. Finally using about a cup or so of hot water and a little detergent (depends on what I'm cleaning) the plates etc are washed/rinsed with this. If two people I use twice the water for the final clean. Water is in a bowl in the sink. The water is then strained through a small strainer before it goes into the sink and grey tank. The strainer is tapped out onto a paper towel. Given a wash in a regular kitchen when I use one.
    As to the washing of smalls I used the following I learned from an elderly lady who worked in the war room in England during WWII. In your shower you first quickly washed your nickers. Then used them to wash yourself. Then rinse and wring dry ( roll in a towel and jump or dance in them helps too ) and they are usually dry by morning. hang them on a coat hanger to dry.
    You used your flannel to give your body a quick dry. Being small this dries quicker than a towel. Lastly you use your towel to finish drying yourself off. As it only gets slightly damp it would dry overnight even in winter. I used this when living on my bike cycle touring around England and parts of Europe and up, down and around New Zealand.

    • @AdventuresWithRosy
      @AdventuresWithRosy  6 месяцев назад

      I’ve never thought of washing the smalls that way! Ingenious 👍😊

    Well as the product has a laundry sheet my favourite cleaning hack is our plungermatic. A 20lt bucket with a standard plunger with a bunch of 10mm holes drilled in the cup. 5 Ltd of water in the bucket some detergent then add dirty clothes and plunge away for 5 - 10 mins. Rinse a couple of times and bingo clean clothes.

    Love seeing everyone's ideas. We're still very new to the caravan game so not many tips acquired yet 😂 but one thing i do is set up a mini inflatable pool outside by the door for the kids to wash their feet before they enter the caravan. Way less sand on the floor then 😊

    My favourite cleaning hack is to do with dishwashing. All the plates are scraped well then each dish gets a quick rinse then water goes off then I have a eco soap in a tin we wash all the dishes h (no water yet) then turn the water back on and rinse them all. We leave them to air dry on the bench on a microfibre dish towel which saves on tea towels also.
    Glad there is a product like this in NZ been looking for one thank you.

    My tip is: When I get a stain on my clothing I use shampoo to remove the stain. I put shampoo on the stain or stains, then place the clothing into a container if very hot water and leave it to soak overnight. I then wash it in cold water the next day and the stain is removed. If you have a more stubborn stain you may need to repeat this process again. It works I have seen the results by doing this myself 😅

This is a lidded plastic box that I keep all I need to empty the toilet cassette, like disposable gloves, fluids, cloths etc: and this sits nicely under the van by the cassette door for when I need it.
