  • Hi all, I'm a PMDG tech team member and real life 737 pilot. In this tutorial we will look at manual flight using the Flight Director.
    We will talk about anticipation, Thrust/Pitch couple, Pitch/Power values and more.
    A second tutorial where we will make use of the skills we learned today and go flying completly without Flight Director (Raw Data) will follow at a later point.

    These tutorials are not designed as absolute beginner tutorials. It is expected that the viewer already has basic experience with airliners and knows the basics how to operate an aircraft.
    Instead these tutorials will focus on the 737NG as an aircraft and the particularities of how to operate it.
    Tools and addons used in this video:
    Nvidia Shadowplay
    Windows Movie Maker

    Haha omg that was epic. Was really enjoying it all the way through, then went into severe anxiety as you got closer and closer to the ground without looking up 😂😂😂. Amazing to watch - really!!
    I plan to work through this next time I’m on the sim.
    Literally the best msfs/pmdg vid I’ve watched - and I must have watched hundreds!!

    I really like the emphasis on being gentle and precise with flying her manually, while also learning to come to expect the sort of behaviors that come with certain maneuvers, so as to not be thrown for a loop whenever things start to happen quickly. Always be ahead of the plane! Not the other way around.😊
    Great tutorial as always! 👌

    Your demos are excellent. This one video sorted out a few issues I was having with flying manually. I don’t fight the aircraft so much now, especially when on the go after a touch and go. Cycling the flight directors fixed that, lol. Auto throttle off during manual flying was another big help. Now I just need to master controlling the relevant power settings as you have shown. Thanks for the videos and info!

    Excellent video I learnt a lot from your professional instructions. Thank You. To practice these manual control, I like to know how you were able to turn on VNAV and LNAV with AP off. I tried pushing VNAV and LNAV without AP and they would not engage. Hope you can point me to the right direction. Many Thanks.

    Great video I really enjoyed watching it. I do have a question though. When turning a B 737 in flight manually you only use aileron and no rudder because the yaw damper will give the right amount of rudder automatically. Is that correct?

    When doing my PPL, we were given the acronym PAT (power, attitude,trim) and APT (attitude, power, trim) Does this still apply for airliners?

    I agree you do a fantastic job in your tutorial videos. I have flown lots of GA and other aircraft such as the pmdg dc-6., so my understanding of manually flying the aircraft is very good. I am a beginner at flight by use of the FMC and all the other navaids such as lnav, vnav, and use of the flight director. This video did a lot in me understanding and being able to see the use of the FD. My question as pertains to this video is this: I noticed you were manually flying the aircraft using trim and you had the LNAv and VNAV on following the flight path.. Was all this done without the autopilot CMD button being engaged? Because this is the way that I want to practice.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 года назад +1

      Hi, first of all: Thank you for your kind words!
      Correct, all of this was done without the usage of the Autopilot, it was all hand flown with only the Flight Director providing guidance.

    So isn't the HUD the best of both worlds then? You are looking outside with the data right in front of your eyeballs. Yet I don't see many real world pilots using it in these videos. What is your opinion of the HUD and will you make a video tutorial on it?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 года назад +5

      I've never flown a real aircraft with a HUD, so I don't know how the experience changes. Many pilots who have flown aircraft with a HUD indeed insist it's invaluable. Others say it's not needed.
      The truth is probably right in the middle. I'm sure it is an excellent tool.
      I don't know yet if I'll make a tutorial on it. I'm basing my tutorials on my real world experience and I don't have any experience with the HUD. If I can find a pilot who can help me out with it, I might eventually do it. But for now there's so much more to do before going into the stuff that I'd need to learn myself before doing a video on it.

    Hey I have a problem and somehow I couldn't find the solution anywhere. When I try to make a touch and go with 737-800 plane becomes so unstable during flight. After I take off plane pitches up, whenever plane pitches up I'm using the trim to the opposite way(nose down). But this time plane goes down. I just can't find a way to fly with 737-800 manually. I'm a a320 pilot and I never had this before with it but with Boeing I'm always having this issue. So my problem is Why Boeing doesn't have a automatic trim and why I'm have to adjust it myself. thank you....
