For many production workflows, NDI is the main way for video sources to move between devices. While incredibly flexible, leveraging NDI reliably typically requires a technical understanding of the network it is running across. This is especially true when using Full-Bandwidth NDI - and even more so if 4K sources are involved.
On today’s show, we’ll look at a way to bypass some of this network complexity by directly connecting NDI sources to your main production computer. We’ll go over the steps needed to install and configure a 4 Port network card to support plugging cameras - or other NDI sources - directly into it without the need for an external switch.

Amazing concept John! I love 😅this and can't wait to implement this for clients. You are genius, one again!
A really interesting show thanks and one which makes me wish I knew more and felt more confident about networks and IP. Being a late comer to networking it feels a bit of a dark art. However you didn’t mention if it would be possible to have this board and a 4 hdmi/SDI video input board hosted in the same machine? At the moment I’m using hdmi/NDI HX converters to go via the switcher and a direct approach would be useful when working mobile. Is there a solution to use this board in association with a laptop and Vmix? Would it be less taxing on the GPU? Many thanks really useful hands on information.
