You're quoting a 2016 essay that was designed as a thought experiment exploring what life might look like in 2030 if we maximized on-demand services, similar to Uber. The purpose of the piece was to provoke thinking about potential outcomes, both positive and negative, of a sharing-based economy - not to predict a government-mandated dystopia where everyone is stripped of their belongings.
@@sbor2020 I get that the 2016 essay was framed as a “thought experiment,” but brushing off concerns as hypothetical misses the bigger picture. "You’ll own nothing and be happy" isn’t just a harmless idea; it reflects a real shift in how much control we have over our own assets versus how much is centralized with corporations or governments. Get your head out of the sand.
@@PostureKing_ While I understand the concern, it’s important to reiterate that Auken’s 2016 essay was written as a speculative thought experiment meant to provoke discussion, not as a manifesto for a future world order. Auken herself has even clarified since then that the piece doesn’t reflect her actual views on what society should look like. The line “you’ll own nothing and be happy” is often taken out of context and was never meant as a serious directive. In Auken’s hypothetical scenario, she explored possibilities that might emerge with advancements in technology and shifts in social priorities, sparking debate on what we value and how we want to live. Yes, there’s increasing discussion on corporate power and government involvement, and those are worth examining. However, taking a fictional thought piece as evidence of a plot to “centralise control” misses both the writer's intent and the nuanced conversation around these topics. This isn’t a call for world domination - it’s an invitation to think about future possibilities and what we would or wouldn’t accept.

Hi Alex. Interesting topic. Hope you do not adding self employment to issue. Many would prefer working for themselves rather than employer, especially younger generation. I was the same many decades ago. Hence, I turned a hobby into a profession. My hobby was photography. The moment I got paid for taking photographs was the moment I became a professional. The same rule can be applied to most professions. Being paid makes you a professional. How good a professional depends on individual. You learn by doing and research.
Once the climate policy comes in full swing,
The energy company have look ,how to run a company ,means reducing profits means reducing per unit price

Smoke and mirrors budget, just like the Tories.
Fiscal drag means 20% of increases will go right back to the treasury for workers or pensioners.
No such tax on benefit increases.
Ah no. Not really. I have worked with younger people and they all wanted to work. In fact they were almost willing to "kill" for the job😂

Emily Maitless.... "Mr Starmer, if you had to choose between DAVOS and Westminster which would you choose?"
Kier Stoma...... "DAVOS".
Carbon footprint reduction.
No the war time economy model does not create wealth only productivity does, we were debt ridden after WW2. The Russians have been selling oil eastwards at increased prices whilst bringing foreign owned businesses into Russian private ownership partly because they've increased domestic production of everything due to sanctions. The broken window fallacy is where people think that non productive work creates wealth but cant see the other side of the equation, ie. what would have been spent on if the window hadn't been broken, repairing the window doesn't create jobs it just directs work into a non productive activity, the same applies to building a tank and blowing it up in a field
ts all about money -? rich bosses partying every night at banquets, dignity living pay for higher quality living, workers are overworked overtaxed, we urgently need dignity living pay, British people will continue to get sicker clogging up NHS unless Lesser working hrs more paid holidays a yr, businesses profiteering from slave pay, tax breaks, pocketing VAT on fuel and goods, tax avoidance & tax haven privileges, A business owner who earns million a year buys a brand New rolls royce for £100k, this is only 1 month's earning, but if a person on minimum living wages of £20k buys a brand new car for £20k, this is whole years wages wiped out
Is it a country to live and enjoy. Maybe the government are sending a message to illegal foreigners. I’m 70 I will be on a cruise next week to save on heating my bungalow. I will look at Portugal 🇵🇹 it looks a better place to enjoy and maybe 🤔 live

Is this the best "attack" that the right wing media can come up with regarding the budget!! 😂
No mention of the protection for the small businesses that the Chancellor put in place! 😂
I think the wind has been truly taken out of the sails for these doom and gloom merchants following the budget - not one of their predictions came true, so here they are scratching around for negatives.
