For an easy hollow body frog you can carve an inverted pattern on a mold, put it on a stick, then dip it in latex. Once you do a few layers and they are dry just peel it off and the texture/patter will be on the outside. It would make a cool video and is a technique most lure making channels have not covered. Think you could give it a try? I can answer any questions or give sources for how to make these custom hollow body frogs if you would like:)
Hey Franco. That's super cool that you did a product review for Olight. I've been carrying one of their S2Rii baton flash lights in my pocket every day for the last 3 years. I use it multiple times a day for my job and wouldn't want to go without it. But the battery is getting run down, the lens is scratched up, and the soft side-button is mostly worn out at this point so I'm thinking it's almost time for a replacement. Good to know that they sell one that would also be useful for my lure making when I need to do the odd task here or there with uv resin. Thanks for the thoughtful content as usual!
thanks for all your hard work, you can use a uv light too detect leaks in your autos oil ,antfreeze ,power steering ,transmission .some oils and some antifreeze all ready have dye in them but we would add too ac units or in oil too detect leaks keep up all the great work teaching us.thank you and please be safe
Nice and very interesting video that confirmed my choice to abandon the epoxy resin but also the UV one which I happily replaced with a paint that has very good scratch resistance and even more exceptional impact resistance, let's say it withstands shocks ...automotive. I use the finishing paint for cars that body shops use, 20 minutes in the home oven at low temperature, sometimes the heat of the light bulb in the oven is enough
Another interesting blog Franco, that seems to be a powerful light what strength is the IN light. I've been looking at a resin during machine to cure resin coated lures, I worked out how to fix the lure in place but most of them work around the 390 - 400 nm. My question is would I be able to put something like 350 nm bulbs in it safely, not knowing a lot about UV lights and if it's safe to change the bulbs. Many thanks
Thx for the video, rly enjoyed it to see some new UV Cure Lights that might be little bit overpriced for me, but look like they work pretty good. :) Asked this question in the video you wanted some questions for your Q&A already, but dont know if you will take them in future videos, so i try it here again :) -How would you install a Lip to your Lures, after they are already done and clearcoated? As an example, they didnt work how you intended them to do. How you line up the slot on a rounded lure ? Greetings from Germany :) Looking forward for your upcomming videos, appreciate you work and time doing this videos :)
I'm sure this is a great product and thank you for the video review. I was needing a smaller hand held but I was wondering how it might compare to the others. i.e. One I find is 365nm, rechargeable, and 10 watts. This one is 560mw. The difference in price is about 70%. Thnx. BTW. feel free to delete my question if I'm out of line here.
If you can find a battery powered uv flash light that puts out 10watts...get it! But buyer beware, if it's a cheapy Chinese one, the actual output might be 0.1watts.
Great review! But a follow-up question on the UV resin,, you showed it would scratch, but how durable is it on your lures,, especially the ones you use for spanish mackerel? And,,, would the natural light of the sun set the UV resin?
I have an Olight weapons light on my Pistol. It has the same magnetic charger and I can attest to it lasting. They make quality products…….Have you encountered any material other than silicone that the UV resin won’t stick to?
Surely you have already answered this question in one of your videos, approximately how long do you have the lures in the spinning machine with the UV light? By the way, very good video and thanks for all the reviews you do.
Franco I made a lipless crank bait out of oak I hollowed it out and it floated, so I tested to see how much lead I needed and forgot to add the hooks. But with out the hooks I put a 1/4 ounce lead in the head and it floats with the tail up and head down. So my question to you is if I add #6 hooks to it will it even out
I can only guess...the tail hook should flatten out the lure a bit. And since on most lipless crankbaits the belly hook is behind the lead weights, the belly hook should help a bit too.
That looks like one heck of a handheld! What lights are you using in the larger box? I looked on your amazon store but didn't see any reference to it. Thanks!
The lights are from a couple nail polish setting units that I pulled apart. They are on my Amazon store, I haven't checked the availability for a while though
Is it okay to use UV resin for clear coating lures? Wouldn't it continously cure out in the sun while in use? Or is there a stopping point at which it stops curing?
This light is UVA and at a relatively very low energy so unless you have an unusual sensitivity at can't really hurt you. If you move up to much higher wattage and lower wave length then prolonged exposure is not a good idea.
Good job my brother, i love the stickbait, i'd throw it in GT's feeding frenzy and make a video for my channel loll do you think it would be strong enough to resist a giant trevally's jaw? It look like it would resist, nice job brother. Greetings from Tahiti, french Polynesia ! Come visit the channel if you wanna support too
@@EngineeredAngler I love the paint actually, the closer to natural color always the best; The black dot on the back is a plus for a topwater lure, the only thing would be the white belly which make the lure hard to see from below .But hey, amazing job brother

i find the product reviews very informative. Jim Rodgers

Olight makes an outstanding product for sure!
The clip on the flashlight is really cool because it can clip in your pocket or on your hat bill to make it a head lamp.
Oh..didn't think of that 🤔. Thanks
very cool flashlight
I would LOVE to see your interpretation of the Kastmaster/Dexter Wedge type metal lures.
Yes!....I've thinking of a modified version. Coming soon.
Super good, relevant content for me at least!

You can use lights ranging from 360nm to 390, that seems to be the best range both for setting and availability.
Great review ! ??? Please let us know what lights you used on your rotisserie curing tube ! Thanks Gary
There are 8, 9watt fluorescent bulbs in the chamber.

@@EngineeredAngler You may be right. It says 10 watts but can it be really?
I love that UV flashlight 👍🔥 lol cheep Chinese eyes 😂😂😂
Great review!

The sun will set the UV but it would take a lot longer. If you're catching fish with strong jaws and sharp teeth your lure finish WILL get damaged.

It depends on the size of the lure and if it is a intermediate or final coat. Anywhere from one hour to four.

@@EngineeredAngler Oh that makes sense! Much appreciated!
Hi Franco. Great video. Where did you get your small UV dispenser? I like the metal tip. I only have the plastic tip and they clog over time. Thanks
I have a link in my Amazon store look in the list titled UV resin stuff
www.amazon.com/shop/engineeredanglerlures
Does a UV light with the 365 wavelength help cure a 2-part clear epoxy resin as well?
No....but heat does.
Is it okay to use UV resin for clear coating lures? Wouldn't it continously cure out in the sun while in use? Or is there a stopping point at which it stops curing?
Thar is all I use ....that's why I have that big curing chamber
@@EngineeredAngler will continued use in the sun harm UV resin that is fully cured is my question.
@@mg_customs8531 no it has a point where it’s fully cured and then lasts in most cases better than epoxy
What's the battery run time?
Thank you
There's a range since it has different intensities for the regular light. But I think the max run time for the UV is 4 hours.
which uv resin are you using in this video?
You can find it in my Amazon store
If you want to make your own eyes its easier to make it directly on the lure instead of in a mold.
What makes UV chip or not stick?
You probably didn't wipe the surface with denatured alcohol....?
Is uv light harmful to your hands ?
This light is UVA and at a relatively very low energy so unless you have an unusual sensitivity at can't really hurt you. If you move up to much higher wattage and lower wave length then prolonged exposure is not a good idea.
$80? I'll continue with CA for dressing trebles and jigs.😲
Too bad scorpions aren't made of u.v. resin.
