RIDIN' THE RANGE ONCE MORE
TOTIN' MY OLD FORTY-FOUR
WHERE YOU SLEEP OUT EVERY NIGHT
AND THE ONLY LAW IS RIGHT
BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

My husband's Uncle Ray Whitley, wrote BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN with Gene Autry. He was also in many cowboy movies with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers.
Amazing!
My grandfather is in heaven now. Passed right at New Years at midnight to heart failure at the age of 91. This was his music that he enjoyed. He played his guitar and loved gene autry. Thank u uncle Ray for the years of happiness that my grandfather enjoyed
every Saturday we paid 25c to go to a cowboy movie in East Texas.
He also sang “El Rancho Grande”
but Pappy O’Daniel got elected Governor of Texas writing and singing
“Bluebonnets of Texas” to us from a platform on a flatbed trailer.
Woaa cool !!
Ray was my uncle Harce Whitleys'
brother. Harce married my father's sister. Ray and his wife would come to my house often sometimes spend the night in the very room in right now. I wish I had been older to really know who he was. I remember him well singing with my mother. I am honored to have known him and called him Uncle Ray
Believe it or not Gene Autry movies were continually rerun on Australian telly in the 70's when I was a kid so I sort of grew up with this stuff.
Gene was always my preferred cowboy actor and singer. Don't forget he was also a fine composer of more traditional country music. I think I saw most of of his movies in a theater (I'm 81). Filmed in breathtaking sepia color. His long running radio program featured this tune as it's theme.
About 1942 i met gene autry at the uptown theater in Houston Texas I was about 8 years old. He looked at me and said “Como Estas muchacho? ”. I couldn’t believe Gene could speak Spanish so we’ll !
Jasper Castillo 88 years old this year.
@@jvcxxx65 may god bless you, hope you have many more years in goos health. I would love to hear some stories.
I've got a LOTTA respect for Gene. Grew up listening to the music of Melody Ranch. He was given an ultimatum by Republic Studios when WWII started and he wanted to join up. He could stay and be King of the Cowboys or they would make Roy Rogers King if he went to war. Gene chose to be a pilot!!!
Gene joined the AAC in 1942 and during the war, ferried fuel, arms and ammunition over “The Hump,” in the Himalayas, in the war’s China-Burma-India theater.
I used to go to sleep to this on CD as a child. Hearing the exact version of my childhood is making me cry. I haven't heard this in decades.
One of the best things about Christmas is Gene Autry will be on the radio as long as there's radio & Christmas eh
I have a 78 rpm record of “Here comes Santa Claus” that people have been dropping the needle on on Christmas Eves for almost 90 years.
I wish more people remembered Gene Autry and all the old timers like my grandpa who believed in this country and would die for it
I remember hearing him singing in the barn while my dad milked cows. Will always remember it.
My daughter did a hip hop dance to a modified version of one of his Christmas songs. It was tastefully done version of Rulolf the Rednosed Reindeer with a drum track added for 10 year olds to dance to. The Trap Remix. I'm here because I wanted to hear more of his angelic voice. His Christmas songs especially are played every year and people just like me wonder "Who is this guy? I need to hear more." I smile trying to imagine what he would think if he heard that. Would he love it or hate it?
Good luck of that ever happening in this day and age, fella! 😒
Gene Autry was in the public spotlight many years after his cowboy days. He loved baseball and became the original owner of the major league baseball team in California - the Angels.
I still remember watching games on TV and the camera will occasionally show good 'ol Gene seated above watching his beloved team play. Rod Carew was one of my favorite Angel players.
Over 40 years ago, back when I had long hair, me and my brother and sister and friends would hang out in a country bar in Hillsdale, New York called "The Mink Farm." We'd play pool and drink beer. Once when I was putting money in the jukebox, an older lady (Probably younger than I am now) said, "I bet you're going to play some of that hippie music!" I said, "Please rise for the national anthem." and I played Back in the Saddle Again. I loved Gene then and I love him now. Great music! Sentimental? So what! Just great stuff! Why aren't there singing cowboy movies anymore?
Today everyone only cares for violent and cussing, I love the old western...
Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers...these were my father's era cowboys.
We'll be again hearing this on Jan.20,2025.
Almost assuredly we will, but we still won't be in the USA when we do, just as we aren't now. And the installation ceremony will be just as illicit as it was in 2021.
Thanks For The Old Timer Tunes..
Much Appreciated. ❤🌪❤
Gene Autry one of a kind, still loved all his movies today.
Love Gene and Roy…❤
Sung like a true cowboy!
Kick ass slide and fiddle
I just loved Gene.
My Pap was such a big Autry fan, it was always playing on TV or on the tape player. Every time I listen to this song I can smell the peppermint and sawdust of his old shop. 💙
Miss you gramps. Hope you are enjoying everlasting life, hope you got you jukebox of old western music and hymns. Someday I’ll see you again ❤️❤️RT
Not sure exactly how far in my family tree he is, but I am related to him! 🥰
I'm 24 years old and I appreciate this music than today's nasty stuff
Me too!!!!
It is impossible to know why I feel it inside of me, but I really like your music. Greetings from Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico 🙌🏻

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Like many boys over the years, I grew up watching cowboy movies, singing country & western songs & really enjoying life as a kid. Loved his movies & music! I come from a trucking family & really enjoy the old cars & trucks. I’m trying to think of a movie or two that had old semi trucks…cattle haulers. Been a long time since I saw those. Good stuff. I still sing this song. Thanks for the memories! Blessings!😎🥰✌️
I have always loved Gene Autry next to Roy Rogers he was and still is my favorite singing cowboy-actor. In fact up till i had to give my first Direct Television"s DVR i had eleven Gene Autry movies on it. My favorite Gene Autry movie is The Big Show about Gene having to go in place of cowboy-actor Tom Ford who went AWOL before his personal appearance at The Dallas Expo Event. The movie was a riot i cracked up laughing at Smiley Burnett's antics he was so funny.
@Thomas Stewart I don't know you so please don't send me anymore of your emails thank you.
Better people, better days
love this song
Back in the saddle again.................. what a phrase
Stephen King and his book-"Cujo" brought me here👍😉

I loved all of his movies like this one and loved hearing him sing. He gave enjoyment and laughter to us all while he was here but now he's in "Hillbilly Heaven 🙏" with the others but one day we will All be "Back in the Saddle Again" with the Father 🙏 for ETERNITY!!! We miss you Gene Autry!!!
@Thomas Stewart Hello and how is your day going. I love 💕 western movies especially those of Gene Autry but I also love the ones of Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy! They all were great actor's and they all could sing to. Days aren't like they use to be. May God bless 🙏 you and your family and take care 🙏
@Thomas Stewart Mine is going fine. I really have loved my RUclips to listen and watch my favorite songs and the artist that sings them! May God bless 🙏 you and take care!
@Thomas Stewart I live with my sister and her family in Sebastian Texas. I lived back in Tennessee but my husband died last July and we had no kids. My family didn't want me to live by myself due to the way things are these days.
@Thomas Stewart nothing. I had to resign back in June of 2019 to take care of my husband due to him coming down with dementia but he died from a heart attack. I was born with this health problem called Epilepsy. I take medicine for it and have worked all my life and suffered. I signed up for disability back when I resigned but nothing. I sold everything we had to pay things off to be in the clear and I've been living off what was left. I know God 🙏 is looking over me to make sure I'm able to get what I need. Like they say things will get worser before better.
Hello you got a nice profile picture
❤❤❤❤❤
Gene died a few months after the passing of Roy Rogers in 1998.
I bought my '98 Cavalier a few weeks before Roy died.
I tell people how long I've owned my car by that mark, then add :"And those guys were riding horses."
RIP gene autry, sing the best country music to god

Wow this is amazing. Gene autry is quite a few greats uncle or maybe grandpa. I honestly can’t remember but it’s one of those
He still remains undefeated "yup" he has all five categories and received five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Boulevard no one has ever done it sense that's a huge accomplishment what a honor he was the first to own a baseball league the Angels oh yes, the first to have bought a ranch and named it , THE MELODY RANCH., to which started the craze that Elvis had to make Graceland and Michael Jackson and Prince had their estate's please this man deserves a movie !!! He married twice his first wife in 1937 til her death they had been married over fifty yrs. No children and then once she died he married his assistant who handled all his banking hmm, up til his death and Jackie I call her still is alive and kicking Lord bless and remains head of Gene's estate!!! This man lived he even made up ten commandments for a cowboy to follow true story Google Gene's Autry Ten commandments For A Cowboy sad thing is out of all he accomplished he never had children so sad but some people don't want children ok that's, that! !! Blessings you'll !!!!

Hello Susan how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
FYI - Hollywood walk of fame stars - entertainers' contributions in multiple categories with multiple stars. Gene Autry is the only honoree with stars in all five categories. Bob Hope, Mickey Rooney, Roy Rogers, and Tony Martin each have stars in four categories

Remembering Mr. Autry who was born on this day September 29, 1907 in Tioga, Texas USA. Rest in peace Gene, you are remembered fondly in our hearts.
I’ll be back
takes me back to my youth in the forties
Me too. Saturday matinees and Gene Autry movies.
Takes me back to my youth in the 90s :) He passed when I was 7. I didn't know until years later. My father probably didn't tell me knowing how much it would hurt 7 year old me who was practically obsessed with Gene Autry movies
Gene Autry was one of many Hollywood singers and actors who went off to fight in WWII, sacrificing much of their careers. Leonard Slye stayed home and did lots of singing cowboy movies will Autry risked life and limb.
I have heard that Roy Rogers (Leonard Slye) received a deferment due to the special needs of his adopted children and the weak health of his first wife (who would later die in childbirth). Not sure how true that is.
Best Easter song, here comes Peter cotton tail hopping down the bunny trail. I have it on an old 78 vinyl, a treasured possesion.
Now, THAT's a stable genius!
76 years past, we still enjoy this.
Amazing....
81…
Gene Autry was the best cowboy entertainer of the 20th century and the first true singer of the silver screen. I don't know how many champions ( his first love ) he road and trained, but I hope they are all up in heaven. Rusty Sivley.
My Grandfather on his death bed...loves this....and now I do too!!
GOD BLESS GENE AUTRY AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!
This song was from a long time ago. I remember singing it as a small child.
