    As an irishman i can tell you the expectations for an ireland win in south Africa are very very low. Leinster and munster had a disappointing season, yes ireland won the 6 nations but the loss to England hurt as much as the quarter final world cup exit. The irish players need this series like a hole in the head. Where the boks seem to have an endless stream of players coming through Irelands strength in depth is very much lacking and so we are seeing the same players line out time and time again, and this will go against them tmrw. The boks are on a mission to get a win over ireland for the first time since 2017, ireland will lose both games here.

    • @cateym

    Honestly, as an Irishman I can’t see South Africa losing this tomorrow. Ireland and Irish teams have very much been in the post-World Cup blues this season. All of the teams, from provinces to national side, have been below standard and the mix of continuity and less changes has kind of meant that there isn’t a feeling of a clean break for a new era.
    I like that Andy Farrell is experimenting with Jamie Osborne at fullback but honestly wished he’d go even further and blood other players.

    Something that stood out to me from the wales game was the boks willingness to run against the grain. Go infield then suddenly turning out to look for gaps between drifting defenders.
    Tony brown has mentioned taking pollard back to the type of gainline running flyhalf from his early days but I suspect he wil be offloading right before contact to a forward pod who wil change their impact point as well.
    It looks like the boks won't try to outsmart the opponent but rather mentally fatigue them by constantly changing the picture and offering so many possible scenarios that defenders need to think more to the point where the physical fatigue and mental fatigue leads to performance loss.

    This game will be very different from the one they played in the WC. The absence of Sexton, JGP and Keenan is massive. But this is still a class Ireland side. Then the Boks trying to evolve their game with the likes of Brown, will also change the dynamic on attack. Just hope they managed to shake the rust against Wales, because they will have to be sharp to beat the Irish.

    Duane Vermeulen was an absolute game changer for the Boks over the years on defense and the breakdown. But not only that, he was a game changer when it mattered most. His contributions were timed to perfection. We owed him so many wins from last minute turnovers, great high ball takes or dominant hits.
    Roos just cannot offer what Duane offered and there's an argument that even Kwagga doesn't offer the same set of skills (His lack of aerial game).
    But Kwagga is the best possible replacement for Duane at the moment. Maybe Hanekom in the future.

      That is true for the Semi. But in March Leinster absolutely embarrassed the Bulls. So Id say its not the talking points you think. It's more the other Irish Provinces are not firing in reality and some Irish players are showing signs of age at this stage. Where a physical force like SA can take advantage of.

    I think Ireland would have the edge, if the game was played at any venue other than Fortress Loftus. I have never seen so much raw emotion at a stadium for just a normal Bok game. But a game like this, it is going to take things to another level.

    • @ciaranbrk
      @ciaranbrk 20 дней назад +4

      I don't know it's thought just depends on how each team protect the ball. Loftus will be tough altitude is really tough even for pro athletes. I don't know of Ireland have the fire power to be honest. The boks edge the pack and have the more settled half back combo. But if Ireland can click they are a different beast under Andy Farrell it will be a tough game.

      Springboks arenactially playing a kicker in this game so they wouldnt even have the edge in ireland because Springboks lost the last 2 games based off missed kicks.
