A great rugby game could be enormous for rugby as a whole and we as a fanbase have been starved, although the bones of a good game were there in Rugby 22
Personally I'd prefer one really great game than another rushed one that's shit. If we get a new one and we're still playing it 16 yrs from now nobody will even remember it was delayed.

Class. So good to see the guy behind it, to see he’s a rugby fan, and that he seems really serious about getting it right. People have waiting over 15 years for a good rugby game, another 6m isn’t the end of the world if it makes it successful.
It sounds like they are trying to make the game too big. Just focus on making the gameplay good and fun, eve if it's a small amount of teams at first. Then add the rest of the teams with updates. I have a feeling we will have all the teams and then terrible, clumsy gameplay.
Agreed. The gameplay is so much more important than whether you can play as a minor nation or not. People will keep playing and buying the game if it doesn't have eg. Spain in it. They won't if eg. the breakdowns don't work realistically.
I suspect this is also the kind of task that you would like to get done in one go and not have to go on the road again 6 months after release to get the models for the other teams. Still it feels like a lot of work for not that much added fun from a gameplay standpoint.

As an American rugby fan and an avide gamer I can’t wait to see this game come to light. Here I’m the states we have rugby but not at the scale of Europe. Would love love love love to see it become more accessible.
I am excited and supportive. But surely the decision to include 140 nations is not worth the time, effort and money. In realistic terms 50 would be more than enough. Just my opinion. Best of luck to the team completing the game.

Problem is after 17 years they still producing only a half decent game.. the face scans are not always the best...community can created faces far better without cameras

Me too but all that stuff is important for a lot of gamers, just look at how many whinge and moan, so I get it that they want to make it as good as they can.
Having lots of teams, official licensing, good graphics and player likeness are all good but very, very secondary to the gameplay. The last few rugby games I played were horrendous with Clunky mechanics and really didn’t play anything like a real game of rugby. Gameplay is what they need to deliver on. Fingers crossed.

This will be massive for Rugby and I genuinely think it could help turn the tide on the struggles the game is experiencing. FIFA played such a huge part in me getting into football and helped me learn a lot about clubs and players, and I think this has the potential to do the same. The fantasy element certainly can play a part too, and I think any career mode aspect would be a key part in it. Great to see them going out of their way to include obscure rugby nations too. Nothing would be more iconic than if for the All Blacks you actually had the Haka and for the Boks you had amaGwijo(Xhosa war cry) when they exit the tunnels…rugby is personal and emotional especially in national teams. That’d be an amazing inclusion for as many teams as possible.

If I was Big Ant Studio's with such a small team, I would rather make a Rugby game and plan for it to have a lofe cycle of 2 or 3 years with updated kits etc etc, untill they atleast have a team that can complete yearly games

I would love a career mode like the way it is in fifa like youth team or under 20s and you can bring them up to the 1st team or like pro clubs but in rugby if that makes sense

If we can get the SH clubs in then this will complete me in life. I also want to be able to edit all teams and for it to save. Having post game stats. Same as league, career etc stats you can see throughout a season. Please can we get this. It’s so annoying in R22 having edit a team every single match. I love how passionate they seem to be but sounds like they might be focusing on the wrong thing. photorealistic players doesn't make a good sports game look at NCAA 14 one of the most popular American football games ever. no real players just really fun gameplay and modes. The marketing and communication with fans has been absolutely shocking so far. Hopefully they are able to get it right from here on out.
Would it not be easier to pay someone with the equipment in the different countries to go round and do this and send it all back to a central hub. Would save money on the travel and would mean a massive job becomes significantly easier

The “140 separate contracts” must mean they’re doing the EA method, individual contracts with clubs and players, so the game can continue if the governing body decides to pull out in future.
All I ask is not to spam buttons at each ruck, or time things when pushing in a scrum. I liked the way it was played in Rugby 06/08. - That similar engine with slightly heavier feeling players/ slower players - Much more animations - Robust career system with regens

It would be nice if rugby can come together and prevent the shitshow that happens with FIFA/ EA Licensing and give the fans a really cool game without gouging the studio for money.
The “140 separate contracts” must mean they’re doing the EA method, individual contracts with clubs and players, so the game can continue if the governing body decides to pull out in future.

This stuff should have been done like a year ago, but excited to play the game at some point.
All I ask is not to spam buttons at each ruck, or time things when pushing in a scrum. I liked the way it was played in Rugby 06/08.
