    This vid is great - looking at the reasons behind these accidents, but not doing it to scare people but instead reassuring that it is highly unlikely, and we should learn from them. So many channels just look at "this ride broke, these many people died, this is why" but this looked more into reasoning, and importance of safety. Great vid!

    I love how this channel doesn't fearmonger about ride safety and specifically states that these kind of incidents are rare and avoidable. So many channels i see will frame these incidents as if each ride wiĺl be your last and that every theme park is evil or something 😅.

    for those wanting a quick summary of why this stuff should happen again here you go. Theme Parks are very safe, specifically bigger parks such as Drayton Manor, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington, Paulton's Park and LEGOLAND Windsor(Most of these are owned by merlin entertainments who are VERY strict on safety) 1)That's a really old coaster so not surprised that happened if they haven't been keeping with the Maintenance and there are much more stricter laws in the uk now about that 2)this one was the guests fault as there's a reason why when your on a river rapids ride it keeps screaming into your ear "Please Remain Seated" 3) those 2 are very old rides and stuff like that should happen again because safety is a lot stricter 4) the smiler accident was just really bad luck and human error (basically the ride system detected that there was a stuck train and shut down the whole ride before anything could happen but the crew didnt see the train that was stuck and released the train and thats why that happened but today staff can not over ride the ride system 4) the rest is just fun fairs and travelling rides which myself think that they are dodgy

      You’re missing the point, which is that they were all preventable, not ‘freak accidents’

    • @Cr4ZyCaptain
      @Cr4ZyCaptain Месяц назад

      @@WillLarge76 yes they obviously were preventable but the point is that we have learnt from them and that those accidents won’t happen again

    9:58 I’m trying to remember if it was before or after towers incident but something that happened to me or TPs rumba rapids was in front of me was a group split over 2 rafts. The ride came to the end those 2 rafts where going up the last ramp with mine just about to go on. Someone from the lower raft hopped out running up the ramp to their mates. Staff Estoped the ride which we were later told caused some short. Security was called and rafts kept coming round clogging at the end. They tried to restart after security got there that’s when they found they were unable to restart. Security escorted the people off with a purp walk since the exit goes past the end on the high ramp. Staff with a rope helped pull others over to the side under the exit path and between rafts but we where last because of being in an ackward spot (exit was pointed up the ramp or to the sides backwards) they tried to move us a few times. Had us basically attempt tug o war with the guy or tie the rope through the loop but nothing worked. We finally got a hand onto the cat walk back up. Getting to dry land I think technically after park close or at least the please go stage
    If anyone is board enough and have access some how to reports this was still during the og DB ghost train (which broke down due to computer error looping during the fog bit on the way back(while we where on it). Then there was an item retrieved from Saw(we were next in the queue). Plus the slammer was “operational” but broke down (we weren’t there but included that ride in the end of day complaint to guest services. Also this was August I think

    Great video, thank you. Would never visit a funfair as wouldn't feel safe riding the rides at all. Been to local theme parks and ride after ride the best experience ever. I fully believe that these attractions are 100% safe and the unfortunate few incidents that happen are very few.

      Ironicaly they are actually safer. Since they are put up and taken down multiple times a year. Meening they are inspected every time they are installed. ( yes freak events happen and random failiors happen same with perminant ones. ) If they wernt safe they wouldnt be given an adips cirtificate. This is done EVERY YEAR.

    Why weren’t the ride operators on The Smiler Alton towers prosecuted??

    • @JoshuaPerryParker
      @JoshuaPerryParker  Месяц назад +3

      HSE ruled that there was a lack of training given to the ride engineers. So it was judged that while staff did not follow the correct procedures, they had not had adequate training on resetting/overriding the automatic stops...

      You’re missing the point, it’s about the ride taking adequate precautions to stop incidents like that occurring - such as not allowing kids to ride alone and reducing the chances of being throw by putting in guardrails
