This is the most papery paper launch that I've seen in my lifetime.
Not quite for me - I remember Intel announcing availability of a single core Prescott (Pentium) @ 4.0Ghz in 2004 (I think). Some retailers claimed to have sold them (*COUGH* *COUGH*). Wikipedia's pages has it listed as a canceled part, while Intel's Ark pages list it as just EOL. True vapor product that one... But just as well given how many 3.8Ghz suffered major thermal problems as it was. But that's a true blue paper launch.
They only did it so they could try and beat Amd they knew somehow that Amd had a killer design this gen they couldn't sell their crap 2000 series cards with those out.
Dude I was saying the same thing but I really think it's just lack of waifer availability from Samsung tbh, like they have had so much time to increase production for it at this point but haven't, they simply just can't get out chips and now there's rumors on cut down versions but they can't even supply the current ones to people. It doesn't make sense
Yea, Samsung 8nm might be having yield problems, though I haven't found any rumors beyond casual speculation.
I know of the rumors of Nvidia is canceling some unlaunched variants and looking at switching to TSMC (which would require some hefty re-design work given node differences)... Usually a little hint of truth to rumors like that, so that might be an indicator of yield problems. Or it might just be simply for the traditional mid-cycle ("Super") refresh next year. Can only speculate about it.
Of course, if AMD pulls off a miracle (and it could happen - all depends on it AMD has enough booking with TSMC of course), that will be a pretty good indicator of yield problems over at Samsung.
Another factor that no one's brought up, and I'm really not sure how it's feeding into all this (a few months ago I saw a few reports that indicated Crypto on GPU's was looking profitable again (I really *HOPE* not)).
So with all that, the bot's/scalpers, the time of year, many people wanting to switch out older hardware, Christmas - there's a huge amount of factors in play at the moment (a perfect retail storm?).
I have a 3080... from the biggest retailer in canada with bussiest location.. Lined up for 9 hours they had 3 cards available 1 evga 2 gigabyte... i was number 6 in the line...the first in line to preorder the 3080 tuf oc.... it took 3 weeks to get the first asus card in for the biggest retailer. Or maybe they changed something on after release.... card launched on sept 17... got it on october 13th... the 2 weeks i had 4 game crashes on me the gpu has around 50 hours in it now... it exited from control twice... once from avengers... and once from watch dogs 2... everytime when i turn on my headset (corsair) i have to alt tab out and in because the gamw freezes till i dot it... when eatching youtube and power saver mode clicks in when i open it. Downclocks so much that youtube videos sound robotic the last driver update fixed the crashes. But not the headset had 0 trouble with my 1080ti before...so you guys are only missing out on beta testing... if it calms you down... if i dint had a a gsync only monitor... i would have sold it already not a good experience atm tbh....

I'm hoping the new 6 series of cards is actually good, and will probably get one at some point if the benchmarks from independent reviews are good and the pricing is good. I'm not going to commit to anything until performance data is available, pricing is clear and fair, and availability has been sorted though.

@@siemasz2492 Use common sense. Even if they make loads of cards, it doesn't matter if bots are STILL ALLOWED to keep scooping up the majority of supply.
Most people are not getting a card. Or have you not seen it was the SAME problem 3x in a row despite NVIDIA and other companies making more cards for the 3070 LAUNCH. They need to stop BOTS, making more cards is just giving scalpers more stock to hoard over and over again. And in the end, scalpers still have product to sell.
They need to concentrate on eradicating bots and make it more difficult for scalpers. These people are able to buy up 40-50 cards each. Only thing really helping right now is the queue system.
They also need to make physical store stock a priority, one per customer as always. You want a card go to a store. Bots obviously cant do that.
So many ways to stop and hinder bots but a lot of these companies do the bare minimum or nothing at all to circumvent it. These plebs still think captchas work.
Most sites don't even allocate the stock to your cart. Eg. Give you say 30mins to check out. Instead you click add to Cart and a bot snatches it out, because it's made multiple purchases over and over snatching stock out of baskets. Just adding that time limit is more effective than more stock.
But these companies don't care. They are still getting paid and creating extra artificial buzz because of EXTRA "supply" demand, because most average people/gamers are not getting the product, Scalpers are.
I did not buy an available 3070 because it was selling at scalper prices. Better wait for the Radeon RX6800 so the prices go back to normal.

I managed to pick up a Galax (aka: KFA2) RTX370 SG (1-Click) graphics card from PC CASE GEAR in Melbourne, Australia and its been shipped and I have my tracking number. I'm happy :) I still also have an Asus RTX 3080/3090 from PLE Computers in Melbourne as well and should be receiving my gpu, all going good in the coming weeks in their next Asus delivery batch received. I've manage to sell my 2080Ti for a VG price a lil while back as well as my 1060 6GB and I'm looking at upgrading my HTPC and Gaming PC when these cards arrive.
Awesome review! I have had 3 3060ti cards and currently use a Asus 3060ti dual oc which I prefer. For me noise is very important since the case lies right next to me at the desk. I first had the Palit 3060ti dual oc which was way too loud stock, reaching 40dB+. With an undervolt to 1560@731mv temps sat at 64-66C with fans at 32dB, but rgb was ugly and it overheated my B-die due to blow through design. Disabling rgb required software that override afterburner. I then go at Msi 3060ti trio z which kept temps at 48-51C with 1650@743mv (good binning) and 32dB, but it was huge and CPU-temps rose due to less air from intake fan, consumption was also higher than the 2 other cards, 240-250W at stock vs 195-205W and 10W-20W more with UV. Now I have the Asus 3060ti dual oc, running 1590@737mv. With fans at 32dB I get 53-56C, rgb is subtle and CPU is cooler than with trio so I'm actually most satisfied with the Asus dual, although the trio is a superior gard, just not for my setup :) I ran all UVs at lowest voltage required for vram to run at full speed, seems there is some siliconlottery going on there aswell.
Question: whats your recommendation for undervolt settings? 95% or 90% and did you use asus tweak software to do that? Thx
This is what makes me just go back to consoles,specially now that because of the performance per dollar on the new consoles are the only reason Nvidea drop their prices on their new cards only to compete.
enjoy your 4 games on the console then. I own 170 games currently on my PC and they are ALL, INSTANTLY remasters since you can tweak them to your new HW, always. :)

CPU is good but you need to upgrade your PSU to at least 600w (650w would be better)

my totall wattage from wall at 100% both is 320W (furmark + cpu stress test)
While gaming wattage is ~260W.
Desktop idle is 80-120W.
Wattage calculated from PSU cable so all other peripherials are included.
if we see this i think 550W will be fine for 3070 i think

Question: I've downvolted an RTX 2070s and an RTX 2080s and I've noticed that games crash when lowering the voltage below a certain threshold with RTX on. I find this a bit odd so was wondering if anyone's experiencing the same issue

6900XT is 999 USD which is close to that asus strix 3070 Oz pricing . Hopefully AMD GPU prices will be closer to real MSRP.

Prices for the 3070 are disappointing. Way too close to the 3080. I thought the 3070 would come in around 800. Might as well spend a little more and get significantly more performance... I'm going to wait for the AMD cards and see how they compare, hopefully the prices will reduce a bit then.

In my country the most exspensive 3070 including taxes comes out 1200 dollars but the 3080s are still high 1500s or above.
Thats the best option you have. And dont get a Ventus card, theyre not that good. If youre getting a 30 series I would spring for a better card. MSI Ventus arent that good, ive had them before and I literally gifted the card to someone.

I just undervolted my 2yr old Asus ROG Scar 2 LAPTOP GTX 1070...1750Mhz..73degC max....Loving it...previously in 1620Mhz it was hitting 78degC..

I see alot of people complaining about stock but unlike the 3080 launch it felt ok to buy, i had about 15 min to think about if i actually should buy it for the price since it came out $100AUD over what i was hoping for but was too tiered and just got it anyway. none of the websites even crashed this time around so demand must have been way lower than 3080 probably thanks to 6000 series announcement.

Its just common sense that AMD would have a metric shit ton more stock. TSMC will allow for many more units to be produced due to their node efficiency. So crazy.. I'm planning to upgrade to a 3070 and I have a 1070M laptop atm. Works well at 1440p for older games, but starting to struggle to keep 60fps on newer games. I see that I will get double or more FPS with an 3070 in my new build.. can't wait for all that POWA!!!

Agree. They had the chance to stock up. They knew people wanted these GPU's. I have enough to get a 3080 but im going to wait and buy AMD when I can score one at MSRP. Im going to just look at best buy inventory every friday and when I can get a RX6800XT, ill impulse buy one. I dont NEED a new GPU but more frames is always welcome.

Cheapest rtx 3070 I could find in my country was €619 and I can preorder a 3080 for €719. Why does the 3070 have to be more the €100 over msrp?
I managed to place an order for OC version for 525euros, got a confirmation, but payment has still not been taken which is damn odd. Talking to Asus support right now to see if I will actually get my ordered card.

I'm an Aussie, I went online at 9am on the 30th, not midnight like I should've, I searched most sites and they were all sold out then miraculously one site wasn't, but only had 3 options left and I was worried even they'd disappear whilst I procrastinated so I quickly decided to go for the ugly ass PNY XLR8 because it has 3 fans and RGB and cost $40 more than the other options so my little gamer brain went 'Must be Superior if it's got RGB and has 3 fans!' it was $999AUD ($702USD) and that was one of the cheapest ones. ROG Strix & Inno3d iChill X4 were $1239AUD ($870USD) & $1299AUD ($913USD) respectively. If I had the choice I'd have gone for the Gigabyte Vision at $1069 ($751USD) since it's the cleanest looking. That's my story. Anybody bag one later than me?

There is not a single retailer in Finland that has any, or any information about when they'll get any. Even Nvidia's website doesn't list a single retailer in Finland though they did for 3080 and 3090. Fake launch lmao.

Really want to see the difference between the TUF and the Dual fan. Of all the AIBs I've seen so far that's the one I'm going for. Pretty neutral design and it has two HDMI ports and three Display Ports. But I don't think Nvidia has released a card with both a Dual fan and TUF cooler before.
My RX 570 Sapphire Nitro isn't working properly. I tried to reinstall the windows but that didn't work.... I get veey often black screen, and my games are crashing..... I can observe small artifacts on the screen, 5-6 pixels aproximately.... Can i get a piece of advice?

The comedy lifestyle of the modern PC gamer. I’m desperate for a new card, but I’ll just wait. At the end of the day, the price could be seen as justifiable given how long you may own the product. I hate being ripped off though. Pretty happy to stay away from Nvidia’s half assed price ballooning.

@Tech Yes City 5:41 You didn't show the same part of the benchmark, now it's hard to see what the actual difference is.
1 part shows above 200FPS then the undervolted part shows just above 100FPS, that's a huge difference man.
An unlisted video with some before and after would be nice, if you already have them.

I honestly don't know what I'm going to do for a new GPU. I was targeting an upgrade for my Asus Strix 1080Ti OC but just cannot get anything and it's looking like it'll be the case until 2021. One thing that has been bugging me about people commenting on these (30 series) cards is people saying that no one needs more than 8/10GB VRAM but it's like dude, I play Star Citizen and let me tell you, that eats all 11GB on my 1080Ti. In addition, even newer and complete games such as Watch Dogs Legion are throwing messages to people saying that they don't have enough VRAM and that's on a 3080. I was really banking on a 20GB model of a 3080 as that would have been perfect for my needs. Add to the fact that I'm in Australia as well and the stock and pricing here has been absolute garbage.

So glad that Im older and I have patience. Also it helps I already have a RTX card in my rig. I can wait. I talked with someone with a RTX Titan yesterday in VRchat who was also getting poor performance, i think its poor coding. VRChat is the only reason I want to upgrade. Otherwise my RTX2070 Super is fine for everything else I do.
The thing is by the time you got ur card a refresh version mostlikely be out the next couple months or a new card be out next year lol.
I was able to find a 3090 fe for 1800, that's like 200 bucks more than MSRP not too bad

Just snagged a ASUS 3070 Dual OC, and I have a EVGA 3080 FTW3 on backorder. I'm not sure what to do. Do I keep the 3070? Do I wait for that 3080? I feel very conflicted. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I just got my Asus dual 3070, but I cant figure out which one is the performance mode and which is the quiet mode! it came with the switch to the left (away from power pins) if I compare it to the Tuf this should be Performance, but this card doesn´t have any text that tells you which one is which, can someone help me? @@ryanmalin it was to a friend of mine who I built a system for before. I'm most likely going to get a 3rd gen ryzen depending on how far prices drop. Last year I got that 2700 for $150 with the outer worlds around black Friday after ryzen 3xxx dropped. Will most likely be going for a 3700x or 3900x unless the 5700x is out of this world. I was planning on going gtx 3070 over amd. Their drive instability and how quickly they the move to cards concerns me.

The 3070s sold out online in underneath a minute just like the '80 & '90 cards. If anything, the '70 card was going to be less available given that it's the most affordable card of the three with longer time to build anticipation and desire from gamers. Not only that, the '70 card is financially the most appealing card for scalpers given the higher ROI they could make with less cost.

In Poland I got mine rtx 3070 dual for 783$ and that was 200$ lower than in stores some of 3070 like Strix cost more than 1250$
