  • Welcome to the first episode of Korean Words Master.
    In this series you can learn a lot of must-know Korean words, and eventually you'll master Korean vocabularies :)
    So today's subject is "Useful Korean Words For Tourists."
    Even though you don't know how to make full sentences in Korean, saying a few of words will still help your travel a lot.
    Also, if you ask the directions to native Korean spearks that can't speak English at all, you'll still understand what they are talking about by listening a few of words like "왼쪽" (Left) or "위층" (Upstairs).
    So they will come in handy when you travel Korea someday!
    That's why I made this video.
    So, let's learn 30 must-know Korean words that related to traveling Korea.
    I hope you guys like it :)
    Love you guys!!

    It's weird to me how Asians use the word toilet so regularly. Like
    Where's the toilet?
    May I use the toilet?
    As an American this sounds weird to me. Americans don't say this (at least from my experience). We almost always say "bathroom" when in someone's home and "restroom" when in public.
    Saying toilet instead of bathroom or restroom sounds so crude and uncivilized to me.

    2:48 im doing Taekwando but instat of "wi" (im on the laptop rn, so I have no korean keyboard) we say "ulgul". So we say like "ulgulmakki" "momtommakki" "aremakki" Can you explain that? :)

    • @tahnjr
      @tahnjr 6 лет назад

      Kioko ~ In Korean the verb 막다 = to block
      막기 (makgi) = block
      얼굴막기 (ulgul-makgi) = face block
      몸통막기 (momtong-makgi) = trunk/middle block
      아래막기 (arae-makgi) = low block

    Just a note, the Chinese character at 7:40 for Morning is wrong.

    • @minjiteacheskorean
      @minjiteacheskorean  6 лет назад +1

      CyberMew Could you let me know why it is wrong? :) No offense, I looked up the dictionary again and it still said 朝食 for 조식 (Breakfast)

    • @CyberMew
      @CyberMew 6 лет назад

      Ok, I think you are is correct, because I don't know if 朝食 is some ancient characters or not (Chinese is not my strong suit), but the dictionary offered a few examples and 早食 is one of them. 早食 is definitely correct as the literal translation is morning food. In Naver Dictionary, under 국어사전 단어, the 1st result is 早食, same for the 영어사전 단어·숙 section, same for 일본어사전 단어. Interestingly under the 일본어사전 단어, apparently both characters appear. In the section under 한자사전 단 though, 朝食 did indeed appear, so I guess you are right and I am wrong :D I also searched the word further and for those that know Chinese well can refer to it here baike.baidu.com/item/%E6%9C%9D%E9%A3%9F Anyone else that know more about Chinese (characters) maybe can chime in as well to explain a little?
      BTW liked the little mistake at the end lol schedule pyo got me cracking up

    • @minjiteacheskorean
      @minjiteacheskorean  6 лет назад +1

      +CyberMew Oh okay. I just checked the Naver English dictionary and it said '早食' for breakfast. So I searched this word into 한자사전 again, and it said its meaning is '아침밥을 일찍 먹음' which is 'You eat breakfast earlier' And my 한자사전 said ''朝食' for breakfast. So the former is a little bit different with 'breakfast' but it's also not that big difference. So I think you also can use both :) I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong. Thank you so much for leaving this awesome comment!!

      A little personal experience, 朝食 is kind of Japanese usage. Chinese speakers would say 早餐 as breakfast.
