The China-Laos Railway is a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative. It's also a landmark in bilateral cooperation and a symbol of friendship between the two countries. As of June, it is estimated to have transported well over 3 million passengers within China and Laos and around 4 million tonnes of freight. Let's witness how the China-Laos Railway has changed the lives of the people living along it.

I thought my admiration for China "Belt and Road" was getting used to surprises but this video opened my eyes watching Laos Leader and staff jumping up and down as Chinese leader authorised first train authorised to start journey - Chinese leader in Bejing joined in with Laos dignitaries and his envoy (Li sees Belt and Road as his gift to the World - under Mao he worked as a peasant and had to work his way up the Chinese political politics ladder! He loves and understands why Laos is so pleased Li has authorised/financed their railway!

Most westerners think Laos first HSR happened because China wants to dominate Laos. Very few of them appreciate about half of the HSR is inside China and China needs it to develop this part of the Yunnan province. The HSR provides high quality jobs to both countries. Since the HSR passes through Laos so those employed in Chinese side are required to be fluent in Laos and vice versa. This promotes better understanding of each other.
Prior to the Laos first HSR that span over 1,000km Laos had only 3.5km railway. That is a mother of rail developments making Laos having HSR earlier than all its neighbours.
Also the Laos first HSR spans end to end so instead of being a land lock country Laos is accessible to the rest of the world via the China side now while on completion of Thailand's first HSR later Laos has rail access to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Laos will benefit economically when any future trade between China and the RCEP countries passing Laos by trains. This HSR is like a money printing machine!
If anyone wants to know a win win project Laos first HSR will be a prime example.

China Laos line took 6 years to complete.
In the US getting such project approval from Congress alone would take a decade....oh wait, they haven't even started yet.
    Empty rhetoric again.

Great news for Laos and China. Have they managed to clear all the mines left by the US during the war in Vietnam?

Laos should bill the USA for the cost of removing all the bombs illegally dropped into Laos, the people killed and maimed and properties damaged. If the USA is a responsible and accountable country, it should pay these compensations without question.

The US dropped 270 million cluster bombs and there are still 80 million bombs waiting to be cleared...

This is exactly what the USA feared the most! - More progress and developments in Asia and it’s all thanks to China! “You are supposed to be our slave and servant, not our competitor!” barks the USA at China!

How come the U.S cannot do this like China for Laos and people to connect with the world community and giving a chances for the Lao people? All we hear from the U.S is turning Laos and the people down for decades and nothing progress or promised in the end until China came along.

Just realised that South Chinese looks very different from the north. I mean, it must have been obvious, but I've just realised it now.
