Mate smashing pumpkins are a different band. You have only really heard there musical style songs if that makes sense. There grunge harder stuff is almost a 180 but good. I highly highly recommend cheurb rock and I am one.
Say that's zero and bullets are incredible grungy songs as well and for me is classic pumpkins. Even if we don't see you just listen to these and the whole Siamese dream album you won't regret it and that's a promise

Billy (and the band) don't like to repeat themselves. The sound evolved in every single release from Gish onward. People who couldn't grasp that fell off the train at Adore. But Adore is a master work in its own non-Siamese-Dream way. Worth a listen as an independent piece, not a part of a succession of records. But if you're honest with yourself, Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness sound nothing alike, either. Really in no way at all. So not sure why people were shocked with Adore. BTW, the new 3-disc record ATUM is great. Don't compare it to Siamese Dream, just listen to it by itself.

Luna, Mayonaise, and Soma are my favorite Pumpkins tunes. Billy Corgan is the group's primary composer; his musical versatility and cathartic lyrics have shaped the band's distinctive albums, which one writer described as "anguished, bruised reports from Billy Corgan's nightmare-land."
Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
    Doomed
Pick your pockets full of sorrow
And run away with me tomorrow
    June
We'll try and ease the pain
But somehow we'll feel the same
    Well, no one knows
    Where our secrets go
I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
    Dream
I'm rumored to the straight and narrow
While the harlots of my perils
    Scream
    And I fail
But when I can, I will
    Try to understand
That when I can, I will
Mother weep the years I'm missing
All our time can't be given
    Back
Shut my mouth and strike the demons
That cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and out of season
Out of love and out of feeling
    So bad
    When I can, I will
    Words defy the plan
    When I can, I will
Fool enough to almost be it
And cool enough to not quite see it
And old enough to always feel this
Always old, I'll always feel this
No more promise no more sorrow
    No longer will I follow
    Can anybody hear me
I just want to be me
    When I can, I will
    Try to understand
That when I can, I will

That look on your face around 2:20 when the bass drum hits, after that little arpeggio in the beginning!
That's the moment when you get a sense of just how deep the sound is going to get, and then, when that first wall of distorted guitar power chord crashes in, it's so fucking satisfying!!!!
I remember hearing it for the first time at 15 as I biked home from my job as a stockboy at Zellers, one summer night in 1993.
I didn't go home. I went to the park across the road, climbed my favourite tree and listened to this song over and over and over again, pushing my earbuds as far into my poor ears as I could, trying to lock this amazing sound into my head forever...
I love that it still hits that hard!!

Billy Corgan is an emotional song writer. Ironically, he was at his best when he was unhappy and you can see that in the song writing in both Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. These three albums are undoubtedly among the top alternative albums of all time. When you get a chance, you should listen to them all from start to finish. You will not be disappointed. Not all the songs are "hits", but they all are worth listening to and represent a lot of the mellon collie overtones of the 90s. I personally recommend the song Jellybelly 😁

you found their greatest song and it didn't take you long. the guitars whistle on this bitch. probably the greatest song i've ever heard in my lifetime. certaintly my fave SP song bar none. the record should have been called "Sonic Dream" b/c that's what it is. it's a masterpiece of a record. top 3 records in my lifetime right here.

Glad to see you enjoying them so much. Even though they were selling out stadiums and headlining festivals in the 90s they're still one of the most criminally underrated bands of all time because the deeper cuts that fewer people are familiar with are *so* good.

Yes, this. People who think Today or 1979 are the pinnacle of the group literally have no idea. Those aren't even top 5 best songs by the band. Ruby, Porcelina, Mayonaise, Soma, Snail, For Martha (song about his deceased mom), Drown, and so so many more. The Machina 2 (not an official release) has some bangers that never got refined into full releases.

I've been a Pumpkins fan since early on but I never thought they'd be great live. Boy was I wrong. I've seen them several times in smaller theaters and small clubs and they truly rock. Their music is heavier than it seems at first. Some of the best shows I've ever seen.

Including a new 3-disc 2-hour-long album that came out this month... ATUM. If you want to get into it in pieces, start with Beguiled, and if you want an even better version, find the Jimmy Fallen show version. They killed it live and it's better than the recorded version.

This album was part of the soundrack of my high school life. It's so incredible seeing people just starting to get into the music I fell in love with when I was young. If this one is the sound of teenage angst, Adore is the sound of learning to grow up.

The pumpkins are one of those bands that make "albums"... the songs work on their own...but to really appreciate the music on another layer, it would be worth listening to the entire album... Start with Siamese Dream and then Mellon Collie... The ones that come after are great albums as well. but these two records are near perfect from start to finish. It would be fun to watch a whole album reaction.

All the pumpkins albums between Gish and Machina II are completely excellent. I personally don't think any of the songs on those albums are even average, they're literally all excellent.
The fact that you've listened to three songs and two of those weren't "hits" but epics in the SP catalogue, and you liked them is completely amazing. You'll love the hits I'm sure, but I'm really happy for you. You get to listen to all these songs for the first time. What a blessing it has been to see your channel, and to see you actually enjoying all this good rock music. Makes me feel good knowing there's a new pumpkins fan.

Siamese Dream is an amazzzzing album. Fun Fact: There's a random out of key guitar "Whistle" that happens in parts of the song. It is due to the fact that Billy's guitar was so old and cheap everytime he stopped playing it, it made that "Whistle" sound so they wrote it into the song. As a 90s kid I just got the pleasure of seeing the pumpkins live and they DID NOT dissapoint.
