    Just got the black mexico 66s. I've had the white sambas since 2020 when no one else were wearing them. I've worn them everyday for 3 years and are still in pretty good shape. I wanted to get the black ones but I hate the hype that people build around them and they're literally everywhere which kinda gives a vibe that you're trying too hard to fit in when you wear them, plus they're overpriced here in ph lol. I bought mine discounted for like 50bucks in 2020.
    The mexico 66 feels a bit roomier, lighter and has arch support overall more comfy whereas the sambas are snug and warmer inside, but once it breaks in, it fits like a glove.

    Onitsuka 66 last forever! I never had a pair falling apart - The only pair I had to part from was a Red Tokyo limited edition pair because the fabric became very stained after wearing them A LOT! The sole is incredibly durable for being so slim. The only thing against the Onitsuka is they’re not cheap and the 66 is so rarely on sale. Sambas are so regularly on sale and can be snatched for cheap which is a major advantage. The drawback is, everyone wears them so unless you have a special colour scheme, the Sambas feel less unique

    I’ve had my onitsukas for 5 or 6 years now and they’re still my go-to beaters. Can’t say anything about the sambas but the onitsukas are super durable, having worn them every day. The stripes have started chipping off but it just adds to the character of the shoe. No signs of the outsole coming off. To the people here doubting their durability, just don’t. They are tough as heck and are built to last. Super comfy as well and look good with almost everything I wear. Probably will get another pair when my old ones finally retire.

    I have both and I would argue the traction and grip is better on the Tigers over the Sambas. I took my Tigers on my European summer honeymoon and hiked mountains in them when I had only planned on wearing them for pub dinners and day walking of tourist sights. They held up beautifully for more than 10yrs wear.

      "Both are solid choices, but for long walks, the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 might edge out a bit in comfort due to its lighter weight and flexible feel. That said, the Adidas Samba OG gives great support and has a bit more cushioning. It really depends on your personal preference! 👟😎

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I totally get how frustrating that can be 😢. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s tend to run a bit narrow, so it’s not uncommon for people to size up, especially for long walks. If your pinky toe hurts, going with a 9 might have given you that extra wiggle room. You could also try loosening the laces to reduce pressure. Hope this helps! Let me know if you decide to size up or find any other solutions!"

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  25 дней назад

      Both of these can feel snug if you have wide feet like me. For the Adidas Sambas, they tend to run narrower, so I’d recommend sizing up half a size for a bit more room. The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 also has a snug fit, but it’s a bit more flexible, so you might want to try sizing up as well if you're looking for extra comfort. It really depends on how much room you want, but both are pretty tight if you're working with wider feet. 👟🔥

  • @HecsBox
    @HecsBox 3 месяца назад

    A notable underdog contender which is less hyped and therefore a much better value is the Puma Club 5v5. They come in a variety of colorways & versions (e.g., regular, suede, & lux), and you don't have to dive into the hype-beast resale market to cop one. In fact, they're on sale at Puma's site as I write this, though yesterday they offered an extra 30%-off code that stacked onto the existing discount. They also have other models that are similar, with various materials, silhouettes, etc., so there's something for most everyone.

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  Месяц назад +1

      That's a great point! The Puma Club 5v5 definitely flies under the radar compared to the bigger names like the Adidas Samba and Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, but it’s a solid option. The variety of materials and colorways is a major plus, and it's much easier on the wallet, especially when you catch those sales. It's cool to see more people starting to recognize the value in these underrated kicks!

    Which one is better for hiphop?

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  25 дней назад

      Both are 🔥, but for hip-hop, I'd go with Adidas Sambas-they’ve got that classic streetwear vibe and pair effortlessly with oversized fits, cargos, and hoodies. Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 is clean too, but it leans more retro-sporty. Depends on your style, but Sambas scream hip-hop culture louder. 🎤👟

  • @rzs822
    @rzs822 2 месяца назад

    Btw, what about the upper material??😂😂
    How % samba used leather and Synthetic material, and how many % onitsuka does ???
    1. Samba uses full grain leather for the upper, suede for the top , Synthetic leather on back + stripe+tounge.
    2. Mexico 66 used top grain leather for the upper, tounge and back side, suede on top, and Synthetic leather for the stipes.
    So which one the better shoes ???

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  2 месяца назад +1

      Good question! 👀 You nailed the material breakdown on both pairs! 👌 The Samba uses a mix of full-grain and synthetic leather, with suede accents, which makes it feel durable but also gives it that vintage vibe. Meanwhile, the Mexico 66’s top-grain leather feels a bit softer and more flexible right out of the box, with suede details and synthetic stripes for a lightweight touch.
      As for which one is better, it really depends on what you’re looking for! If you want a more structured and sporty feel, the Samba is the way to go. But if you’re after a lightweight, casual shoe with a bit more flex, the Mexico 66 might be a better fit. Both have their own charm-just depends on your vibe! Which one are you leaning towards?"

    If the shoes are so comfortable (see comments), why don't we see older people wearing these shoes, sport shoes from the 60s (Mexico 66) and 70s (Samba [an indoor football shoe from 1972])?

    • @anthony.tai.
      @anthony.tai.  2 месяца назад

      That’s a great observation! 👀 While both the Mexico 66 and Samba are super comfortable, the reason we might not see older folks wearing them could come down to a few factors. Styles have evolved, and many older people gravitate toward shoes with extra arch support, cushioning, or orthopedic features that these retro designs might not offer.
      Also, back in the day, these shoes were primarily made for sports like football or track, so they may not have been as commonly adopted as casual everyday footwear for older generations. That said, both models have made a huge comeback with younger crowds today-classic styles never die! 🕶️ What’s your take on it?

    The Samba classic also hawe arch suport , the OG model doesn't, the classic also has a better quality of the leather it's made of. The Tiger is only yellow with black stripes, like Bruce Lee... uuuooooaaaaoooo touch of death 🤣🤣🤣

    👍👍👍 Go. Onitsuka Tiger. 😊Adidas is not honest, in the Malaysian website the Samba is described as having “ soft leather uppers and suede overlays “ … this used to be real leather at one time but now it’s synthetic leather so please don’t think you are buying real leather. These Samba OGs sell for RM 560.00. There is another Samba, which is called here the Samba Decon and that has real leather but cost Ringgit 999.00. If you want really 100% leather all round & 100 % better comfort, better feel, natural creases, soft leather then get Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD. Adidas is overpriced, finish and quality has also deteriorated. Don’t follow trends go for the comfort of your feet.
