Typical modern day builds. From houses that have snagging issues, high rises that get demolished after a generation. We have pre Victorian buildings that will out last the next Nuclear holocaust but modern technology is cheap, quick to 'throw up' & badly built. The developer gets rich quick.
We need to expand the ground to 70000-75000 so the real fans can start getting tickets again and not sitting on the crap ballot system and not getting any games 🤷♂️
Islington won't allow an expansion unless we can get the residents on board and pay for the renovation of Holloway Road Station and fund additional match day buses from TFL. Even if it happened the ballot scheme isn't going anywhere as there are more people with membership than the stadium could ever accommodate.
That would be nice, but the transport infrastructure isn't anywhere near good enough to support that. The capacity just isn't there. The Piccadilly line puts on extra trains, but it only just copes. If there was an extra 20k people, it would be a total mess. Traffic also get's blocked up after games, so buses don't really work.
When you consider the vast waiting list when we were at Highbury, it’s baffling why they didn’t make the stadium much bigger than 60,000 in the first place
Yes, there are infrastructure challenges, particularly around transport, which limit the amount of seats the stadium can safely be expanded by. Outside of heavy investment into the surrounding tube services & road infrastructure, in addition to having to buy out neighbouring residential properties, the Emirates won’t be getting any larger for the foreseeable future.
@@dazza9448 Arsenal Football Club is exploring the possibility of expanding the Emirates Stadium. The club's co-chair, Josh Kroenke, confirmed in July 2024 that the club is considering upgrades and potential expansion.

I went to 2 Emirates cup games one last yr and another this year, they are 2 of the 3 games I've ever watched live as a stadium spectator, the other was a Wembley England Friendly prior to WC-2018. I think they should be showing more replays on screens the way they show them on TV, e.g. foul calls, clear chances, etc, I don't know if there's something against this in professional football in general, but at least this is one thing that'd make it better than watching it on TV.
Showing old trafford roof leaking and saying thats the Emirates was enough for me to realise this is nonsense. The renovations are in the pipeline but not this trash. The exterior has already been done and celebrated about two years ago.
As a lifetime attendee since 1949 the rhetoric on here seems more intent on improving the corporate customer’s facilities with their upmarket lounges and seating. Concentrate on the terraces where the real fans congregate and increase their egress and access points. Having stood and later sat in the wind, snow and rain at Highbury for an age prior to The Emirates those conditions never bothered me but what happens on the pitch does where packed houses plays a significant part. All that about the big screen improvements has its place but not above capacity and viewing consequently those at the helm needs to put the supporter’s requirements first.
How about adding another 20000 seats so we can see them more than once a season I applied every game last season I got 1 ticket, I’ve been on the season ticket waiting list nearly 10 year it’s an absolute joke

Stadium needs a refresh and upgrade, In terms of increasing capacity.....that will not happen due to the small train station not being able to handle high passenger numbers
More lifts around the ground as climbing steps is a killer. Took some from potentially being built away and not enough. The lift shafts have been bricked up so instead of two only one. Also, proper restaurants serving good, inexpensive food
The reason the stadium won’t be expanded past 60,000 anytime soon is because there is a requirement by the council to add an additional tube station which Arsenal applied for but it was rejected.
I was at one of the last games at "Highbury " then when I went to my first game at Emirates , I said... They could have made it 100k capacity and they would have filled it. I was extremely bewildered when they announced 60k capacity. I thought what's the point it will be obsolete in no time .. IMO the management needs to not just make everything “bigger”, “better” like the typical American style. In the end, that’s what every stadium devolves to. Just bigger and more things. More screens, more plush, more this that and the other. They all just look the same. IMO they should infuse what Highbury had with its Art Deco stylings, bring Wenger back in even if it’s just as a consultant to the project, and really develop the stadium as a real project in situ and not just more glass, revenue churning mechanism
Basically, a bunch of useless upgrades that is a waste of money. ANything other than expanding the stadium to 80000-90000 capacity and redoing the entire outer facade of the stadium, is a waste of time.

Who really cares about the ‘digital experience’ or whether we serve a better cheese plate than Spurs. Focus on the basics! How about: safe standing areas? How about expanding capacity at least to the 70,000 level, which would not require radical changes? With United, Barcelona, Real etc at 100,000 how will we compete with 60,000; we could soon be only the sixth largest sports stadium in London. The club has done a good job of improving atmosphere by allocating areas to the ‘ultras’ - but it’s a tiny percentage of the total capacity. Give them the entire Clock End lower tier! Or even the North Bank.
Wembley: 90K, Twickenham: 82K, London: 68K, TH Stadium: 62K, that Makes Emirates the fifth biggest in London. If you also mean a new 60K+ build for Chelsea then that won't be anytime soon, 2030 at the very earliest.

Not excited by any of this. Yes the stadium needs a bit of a refresh but the people asking for 70 to 80k capacity are deluded because: Islington council will not support an increase in capacity;and, if they did, the transport infrastructure in the area will not cope with the higher numbers as it is already struggling with the current capacity. My one complaint about the stadium is how poor and unwelcoming the lower tier concourse is. The food outlets are very poor and concourse itself feels like you’re in an underpass rather than a modern world class sports arena.
It was a bad design from the start. Pity the brief should have had to design it around the spirit of the Kop of the Manor Ground and the North Bank of Highbury ...a missed opportunity sadly.
