Grew up in Hesperia with the Beyer's. Went to school with their grand kids and we used to go stay the weekend and swim and ride dirt bikes, late 70s early 80s. Now I'm getting old in Oregon, what a great childhood!

I heard on another RUclips page that it might re-open someday.

I used to go to Lake Dolores as a kid with my parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. It was the happiest time of our lives. Special fond memories were made. Its a shame new generations won't get to experience it.

My uncle used to talk about this place alot. As he remembers the waterpark. It was a place to party, meet girls, drink beer, camp out, and have some fun. He'd drive from orange county with friends and stay for a few days. This was back in the 80's, but they had a stand up water slide too this didnt mention, which aren't around anymore. The way he talks about this place I wish it was still around or at least other places like it. Now most teens sit at home play games and dont leave the house much.

Only the owners son's could stand up and slide down..it was to dangerous. The boys were well trained to do it. Nobody else was even allowed to try it. I love that ur uncle had a great time there !!

Around 81 82 time frame. We use to be there several times a year. Mastered stand up slide. We got to the point of being able to do 360`s with a flip off at the end. The main rule back then and it was posted No Beerbongs Allowed. Lol. We still had one. Great times

Just found this video. I lost a silver dollar necklace (1880's) in that pond before a CRC enduro in the early 80's. We cooled off in the water then dried HOT before getting back to the truck. The water slides at that time were more gruesome than the enduro course. Except for the unexpected mine shafts.....

"Lake Dolores" was a big couple mudhole lakes during it's hayday, with some tables and parking spots and the whole town's younger generation had a place to party and swim .. When they remodeled it into a real waterpark, it made it through one season. I bought season tickets preseason for my whole family :( for the 2nd season, but it never reopened. During the training (for the first season, I think) of the employees, I think one of the trainees did something goofing off possibly, died on one of the slides, and the family sued, or the state shut the park over safety issues.

The employee, James Mason, was paralyzed, but that wasn’t why the park closed. It lasted a couple more seasons. You can read about his lawsuit here:
