I've owned the Felicita since 2019. Great--really great--little scale WHILE IT WORKS. But on my 3rd one now, and they need to improve product durability. People talk about bad customer service... be clear there's ZERO customer service, zero. My weekly emails to manufacturer over months went with no response. Thank goodness espressoparts reached out to me and offered to honor warranty despite my not even buying from them (shop i bought from when out of business). Scale will work great for about 18months then you get drift and it only gets worse, terrible drift... tare, weigh then it ads .1-.2g every second or so... 25s shot... you're 2-5g off. I hope Felicita gets their product quality figured out cause it really is great while it works. For me I'm moving on to a Lunar.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Even $125 for a scale is not cheap at all. It’s especially risky when there is ZERO warranty or customer service. I’d rather get a Pearl for that price, knowing any potential issues will be taken care of. And for Lunar, many people have been using it for several years and still running strong. Ongoing software update might be a plus?
People told me there is no customer service for Felicita. If your selection is Felicita - it’s completely without warranty in the US. But the price on AliEkspress is 150$ for Felicita. Acaia Lunar is 250$😢
@@alexshnurov Thankfully there's consumer protection law. So even if the manufacturer of a product doesn't respond or take responsibility (which they actually don't have to do, it's complimentary in most cases), the seller is responsible to offer years of protection. Most manufacturers refer buyers to resellers anyways, because manufacturer's warranty is not something they really _have_ to offer. We have 6 years consumer law in Rep. of Ireland, if the scale breaks down due to malfunction, the seller will guarantee a repair/refund/replacement.
@@Jaroslav. thank You so much for recommendations. Спасибо большое, вижу, русское имя. So I can take Felicita Arc in the US and no worries ? :) and if you have any tips about warranty (I want to buy that on Aliexpress) - please share with me 😉
6:00 It's also wider, so you can fit two cups for splitting an espresso shot. People say it's a knock off, I never noticed how similar they actually are. It has the same display symbols and same functionality with buttons! I think the Acaia may be built better (not sure, but possibly better electronics) The Acaia Lunar does seems a little faster when measuring weight and the App is nicer for Acaia, but if that doesn't matter to you, for the price difference Felicita Arc might be worth it. Should have tested the Auto shots timing / flow detection modes with both the scales as well as the apps. I think for Startup the Hiroia Jimmy is actually faster than both of those scales.
Have you compared the lunar to the Arc in how well it does with auto start and stop timing with flow detection. I found the lunar was smarter when it came to that vs my Hiroia Jimmy scale which would get thrown off by slow flow or inconsistent flow and stop weighing
On the 2021 version of the Lunar it is a bit faster to start up I noticed. Also has USB C and brightness is adjustable and default setting is likely brighter now too.
Thanks for yet another informative video CY. I feel some of these scales are too expensive; it’s not as though we are weighing gold or diamonds and a difference of .1g won’t make a huge difference to our espressos or coffee brews. I would pay for a high end grinder, burr or espresso machine as these can affect my final beverage quality but a reasonably good scale that has a .1g reading will be good enough for me. This is just my opinion which may not be worth anything. By the way I am using a TimeMore Black Mirror scale which I am very happy with.
That I totally agree with you. These scales are only for youtube videos to look nice. The reason why these scales are so expensive because it don't just serve the purpose of weighing. It has a lot of other functions when connected to smartphone apps. I am actually not fully utilising its function and its really a waste.
Hi CY, i've used the Fellicita arc for like a year now, for me it was a no brainer i went for the arc due to the price and functionality which is quite similar to the acaia. Where i live the acaia goes for like €300 and felicita for like US $100 (on sale). The app for the arc though is a pain, it will only work if location settings are turned on (i have no clue why) but apart from that i am quite happy with my purchase. Great content as usual 👍.
@@CaffeMartellaSingapore sorry i meant the felicita arc app, location has to be turned on for the app to work which begs the question why? Oh well nonetheless cant complain on the quality and functionality of the scale.
Again, thanks CY for an informative video. I have found difficulty with the setting on the Acaia Lunar when there is a longer pre-infusion. Is this the same for the ARC?
Possibly the same scale just different form factor. Unbranded Acaia lunar goes for 80 on Aliexpress and this Felicita goes for 120. I believe the unbranded can't use the app, but that is just a guess.
Does the Felicita Arc have auto tare function? Like an espresso mode? I have the Timemore Black Mirror and the espresso mode auto tare function is great. I turn the scale on put it on the espresso machine, put my cup on the scale and it auto tares to 0. Also it will staft to count and weight will go up once first drop hits. Does the arc have these features? Thanks… so little reviews on this.
I don't count my espresso when the liquid drops into the cup. I start counting once the pump kicks start and where start to permeate through the puck via the shower screen. But yes Falicita ARC can do that too.
CY, when I want to use my Acaia Lunar scale to weigh the coffee directly on the portafilter I invert the robber matt on the Acaia so that the edge of the robber matt is facing up. That small ledge on the robber matt facing up serves to hold up the arm of the portafilter perfectly. This allows me to use the Acaia lunar scale to weigh the coffee directly on the portafilter. Try it and let me know what you think! Best regards my friend and stay safe!
I will probably invest a flow control kit on my E61 machine than getting a scale to measure the flow for me. And besides that, I consider $220 for a coffee scale very expensive and I have no idea why I would spend $350 on Acaia Lunar last time...lol
@@CaffeMartellaSingapore True :) I was wondering do you stiill have DF64 Multipurpose red Burr in stock ? I'm starting about thinking to upgrade my DF64 !
@@CaffeMartellaSingapore It work very well since I got the collar you sent me ! I only used it for pour over and Moka up until now because I don't have my Espresso machine yet but I got no issues ! I am still waiting for the walnut parts that I hope to receive in the coming weeks but the previous 3D parts are holding up well. No clumping or switch or adjustment issue. The problem was really the collar that came with it. I cross my finger that it continue to works great :)
It helps to turn around the padding with the lunar. You then get a lip to put on your portafilter handle. Sometimes that works good.
Thanks for the tip!
