Rhassoul clay is the moisturizer and softener. It reduces dryness in the hair while also removing toxins and product buildup. It improve hair’s elasticity and unblocks your scalp’s pores. It reduces flakiness and aids in detangling and although it cleans like bentonite clay but unlike the detoxifying clay, it leaves your hair soft and moisturized.
Actually i think the bentonite part has more volume. Look at the video. The bentonite make your root more poofy, which in return give more volume. Also your curls are more defined with the rhassoul and has a bit more sheen.
bentonite can be very drying. It has a larger surface when wet so it can pull out much more than other clays. Rhassoul and kaolin clays are gentler. The best way is to mix some of all three in proportions depending on how clean you want you hair or how soft :-)
Dante Velasquez Green Beauty channel just published a wonderful scientific overview of the differences between the main types of clays and how to get the most out of them.
I use both clays. As you said, the Bentonite is great for cleansing and clarifying; the Rhassoul for conditioning, sheen and definition. I also add oil essences to my clay treatments to enhance the results. A Henna, Neroli Oil and Rhassoul mixture is great for hair with Brown or Red tones. Bentonite, Apple Cider Vinegar and Tea Trea for cleanse/clarify/detox/repair. Aloe Gel/Juice with either clay will boost their individual properties, making Rhassoul even more softening and shine producing and the Bentonite more cleansing and repairing.
I immediately thought that the Rhassoul clay side looked softer, smoother and more defined. The Bentonite clay side looked more bushy and perhaps not as soft. A very helpful comparison, since I've only used Bentonite clay on my hair!
Rhassoul is used to make natural conditioner so that's why your hair is softer on that side. Also, you should never add oils to cleansing clay unless its essential oils. The oils are to heavy and don't allow the clay to work properly. love the video!!!!!
DeepThink....... different clays do different things. Bentonite is a cleansing clay. It sucks all toxins, dirt and impurities from anything it touches. It's super for facials because of this. Oils like Olive, Coconut and Castor are too heavy, the clay will not completely work when you mix those in. It defeats the purpose of detoxification if you aren't going to fully detox. Just make sure to deep condition after this treatment. I use aloe Vera juice rinse as well as to regulate my hair and scalp PH Balance back to normal.
i really enjoyed watching you video. I was not sure why Bentonite is so popular. This is my first time hearing about Rhassoul. Thank you for explaining what they are use for.
At least in the U.S., I find that it's easier to find Bentonite Clay in stores rather than Rhassoul. It's tricky though because some stores will discontinue the most popular one -the Aztec Bentonite clay. I found that the Rhassoul clay was really great for my more tough/tangled sections of my hair which were typically the sections that got dryer faster and overall tend to break very easily. However, the rhassoul clay didn't really define the other more manageable parts of my hair as best as the sodium. It's kind of a toss up. But I'm considering perhaps mixing them.
Thank you for the comparison. I'll start incorporating the bentonite clay wash in my hair regimen. I'm thinking of doing an off and on..so 1 week shampoo, next with clay. I do believe in using shampoo to get a good cleanse of the scalp, but I think the clay is a great alternative between washes since the sebum in the scalp will still be intact in order to boost the moisture in my hair.
nice video! I use both and i find that the rhassoul clay is more of a gentle cleanser and leaves my hair more moisturized so i use it during the winter and i stick with the bentonite during other times of the year esp. summer when my hair needs a good clarifier since im more active and my hair is out more.
Thank you for sharing Olivia Rose. I love the husband/wife tag team. I appreciate you taking the time out to explain and show the difference in using the product. I think I will do a half and half of both clays today to see how it works with my hair. I truly love your volume and I believe that the Rhassoul side looks more shinier and has more volume and looks fuller. I love your hair it is beautiful and so are you, great personality.
Next time you or your husband uses the clays you should not be wearing/using any type of metal including metal bowls, spoons, mixing cups, measuring utencils, earrings, necklaces's and wedding rings. I saw that your husband was wearing his wedding ring when he was helping you apply the clays. The clays will tarnish metal if it gets on it. You can use gloves or an aplicator bottle to apply it. You can also cover your sink or faucet with plastic wrap to avoid a mess.
Paris Morgan Not true, you can mix your bentonite clay with water just fine. It does not HAVE to be mixed with ACV, though many do which is just as ok. ACV can be harsh on sensitive skin especially with frequent use, some may have reactions. If you’re going to mix your bentonite with water, it is best to use spring or distilled water rather than faucet water.
I just mix both of them, along with Kaolin clay, diluted apple cider vinegar and honey to stop it from drying out because I like to leave it in for a longer time but I don't like it drying onto my head. Edit: also add palm kernel oil or coconut oil which is moisturising.
Bentonite clay is the detoxifier, the cleanser or the restorer of your hair’s balance. It draws out the impurities and restores your hair’s pH balance and believe it or not it can be used externally or internally according to some. It’s used in many detox and cleansing products and it makes sense that it’s used as a cleansing mask for the hair. It draws out the dirt, impurities, and product buildup on the hair and scalp.
When I was a little girl growing up in the Middle East my mom used to wash my hair with olive oil soap and condition it with clay, a white powder called kil, (probably a Turkish name for clay). She dissolved it in water and applied it to my hair. It made my hair so soft and so shiny that it was hard for me to manage my hair. Now I’m trying to find that same kind of clay and am not sure if the ones listed here online are the same ones in different brands. I’m confused…
Thanks, Olivia! I've wanted to use clay for hair cleansing for a while now and I am convinced! This is the 2nd video I have seen and decided upon the Rhassoul Clay.
It looks like the bentonite gave more length but the curls are not defined as much as the Rhassoul. Rhassoul shrunken the hair but the curls looks way more define!!!
If you don't know which clay to choose and keep bouncing back and forth in your mind between the two, I read somewhere online that if you have low porosity hair choose Rhoussal. I order Rhoussal before finding this out. Luckily I have LPO hair. I'm sure Bentonite clay works just as fine on LPO hair as well. I have never tried Bentonite clay but my hair was more defined with Rhoussal Clay, comparing this to videos of hair applying Bentonite Clay.
Bentonite clay is more of a clarifying clay(suggested to use ACV with it) it's not 1 that I'd use regularly as a cleanser for my hair. Bentonite is clarifying it is not in the same category as Shakaki,Aritha or Rhoussal clays. Sorry if anything is misspelled but I am using voice to text and we know it is not perfect.😂😂😂
Great vid, my type of hair is 4c high porous and I'm trying to see which clay to buy so I think I'll try rhassoul. Thank you for the video and experience itll helped :)
You can also go haf and half as apple cider vinegar can be a bit burning to the scalp for some people. I put two table spoons of it in my recipe and the rest water. Sometimes I just to do all water. Depends on what I need at the moment.
Hi Olivia. Can you share what you used to create the thumbnail for this video? I usually use picmonkey but I couldn't figure out how to create a side by side shot like this when making a comparison. If you could say what you used i'd appreciate that : )
Yannaa , It pulls out the toxins/ metals/ dirt so it's kind of like this stuff is weighing your hair down. So it helps to define your natural hair pattern that's already there.
I think so, the clay does not sting when it gets in your eyes. However, be careful about the apple cider vinegar rinse part. That part can sting your eyes if it drips down. Just be extra careful! My mom used clay in my hair all the time when I was a little girl, but because we lived out in the middle of nowhere, it was hard to find. It worked wonders on my hair! It was the only thing that worked and made my hair so much more easier to detangle. Highly recommend!
Haha! It can be drying, yes! You could add some oils to reduce the dryness. Probably not let it dry totally on your hair. Rhassoul clay is my favorite so far :)
I have a good book about oils and clay masks and it actually talks about "Rhoussel" clay from Morocco. My question is , is it the same as Rhassoul clay?
Omg! I've never met anybody else who knows about Dominica outside of my family lol. I was born in the USA but my mom and all 4of her siblings were raised in Dominica from young ages (half of them were born in Trinidad)
DeepThink I started out once a fortnight but depending now on hiw I feel..if its longer I make.more of a thick goop but if its like a week inbetween I make a more watery mixture...I just discovered that 1/2 acv and water ph balances my hair and makes it smooth but the water is horrid in my area XD so its makes my hair dry again XD...
I just love he fact that hubby helped you apply the clay! Your video was amazing, as always 😘
I am lucky to have him. He is always happy to help! Thanks for your comment! xx

Nadege JUSTE Yes, you and I are in agreement with your observations. Great job!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :) xx
i was thinking the same thing :)
I thought the same as you.
Which do you think is better?
Why am I just finding you?! Your direct comparison videos are very unique, there's not a lot on RUclips. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you :)

thanks
That's cute that your husband helped you. If my husband helped me apply bentonite clay it'd start an argument:)
i use bentonite clay with vinegar honey aloe vera juice and olive oil. comes out shiny and untangled and defined.
Nice one! I might give it try! Thanks for sharing!
Beautybeats400 Debra what's your recipe?
I immediately thought that the Rhassoul clay side looked softer, smoother and more defined. The Bentonite clay side looked more bushy and perhaps not as soft. A very helpful comparison, since I've only used Bentonite clay on my hair!
I immediately said rhassoul. The hair is also shinier and darker on the rhassoul side. Great video!!
Rhassoul looks more defined

Cher-Cher Natural thank you makes since. Definitely
Cher-Cher Natural Thanks 😀. Does Rhassoul have the same quality of cleansing clay? Should we add oils to it?
But I add oils to mine...
Your comparative videos are so helpful and fun to watch!
Thank you!
i really enjoyed watching you video. I was not sure why Bentonite is so popular. This is my first time hearing about Rhassoul. Thank you for explaining what they are use for.

This video sealed the deal for me, Rhassoul!
I love Rhassoul Clay! I've just started using it and it makes my curls pop and hair super soft.
Thank you for sharing Olivia Rose. I love the husband/wife tag team. I appreciate you taking the time out to explain and show the difference in using the product. Brittany Ivy so glad you said something also not supposed to mix with water at least with Bentonite, ACV
Paris Morgan Not true, you can mix your bentonite clay with water just fine. It does not HAVE to be mixed with ACV, though many do which is just as ok. ACV can be harsh on sensitive skin especially with frequent use, some may have reactions. i think they say to just use any type acid with bentonite because the ph level is between 8-9.1
Like lemon juice for example not exactly always ACV
Love Comparison videos!! The Rhassould Clay side looks more defined and bit shinier. Bentonite looks a tiny bit more stretched.
I love your videos they are so informative!! 😍
Thank you ! Feel free to let me know if there are anything you want me to compare ! Bisous
Love the HubbyWifey teamwork!! Thank youuu for the vid!!!

super informative!! thanks hun, I've tried bentonite and liked it years ago.
Thank you!
Thanks for your comparing and sharing the result of your experience with us!
Thanks for trying both & documenting it
Thanks, Olivia!
I add black castor oil to my mixture to prevent the drying

I use Bentonite once a month to detox my hair. My hair loves it. Btw my hair is wavy

How did it do?
Your hair is gorgeous. I love Rhassoul clay for my hair and skin.
I thought the bentonite clay was supposed to be mixed with apple cider vinegar....
You can also go haf and half as apple cider vinegar can be a bit burning to the scalp for some people. I put two table spoons of it in my recipe and the rest water. Sometimes I just to do all water. Depends on what I need at the moment.
I loved this video! Great comparison!
Rhassoul Clay side is fine.thank you have a good day.
Thanks for this info! I plan on trying the bentonite clay very soon.
Thank you for this review!
will these work on thin, dry hair as a replacement for shampoo or would they be too heavy?
Bentonite part is more voluminous
The vids I see always mix clay With apple cider vinegar and not water. The curls come really defined.
Hi Olivia. Can you share what you used to create the thumbnail for this video? I usually use picmonkey but I couldn't figure out how to create a side by side shot like this when making a comparison. If you could say what you used i'd appreciate that : )
Hey! I used Keynote that is an application like Powerpoint :) xx
Ohhhh. I have Keynote but I've never use it haha. I'll try it now though.Thank you for replying : )
never be sorry for being excited!
thanks for this video!! how often can it be used in a week?
please tell what do you use on your skin and your skincare regimen? thank you beautiful
is your hair naturally curly or the clay helps it become curly?
I think the clay is helping to define my curls :)
Yannaa , they clay will only define the curl pattern you already have
Yannaa , It pulls out the toxins/ metals/ dirt so it's kind of like this stuff is weighing your hair down. So it helps to define your natural hair pattern that's already there.
Thanks for sharing! I've only use bentonite clay and it was sooo hard rise out of my scalp
Thank you! I agree, clays can be quite tricky to rinse out, especially on the scalp!
I think it would be better to use apple cider vinegar when using the bentonite clay like I mean mixing it with the clay
Thanks for this. Can one add these together to use?
Bonjour est ce que on peut faire la masque sur une fille de 11ans
I think so, the clay does not sting when it gets in your eyes. However, be careful about the apple cider vinegar rinse part. That part can sting your eyes if it drips down. Just be extra careful! I am a fan of rhassoul.
When I use the bentonite clay. I do an oil rinse that seems to help
I tried bentonite and oh no. It’s waaay too drying for my hair. Scared me off from all clays but I think I want to try rhassoul clay.
Haha! It can be drying, yes! You could add some oils to reduce the dryness. Probably not let it dry totally on your hair. Rhassoul clay is my favorite so far :)
I’ve seen quite a few videos where people add an oil and ACV in the bentonite clay mixture to make it more moisturizing.
Her voice is so cute
Are you french? lovely accent, there is a small British influence am I correct?
Yes I am :) I lived in the UK for 6 years, I might have pick up the British accent over there!
I have a good book about oils and clay masks and it actually talks about "Rhoussel" clay from Morocco. My question is , is it the same as Rhassoul clay?
georgcorfu yes it’s the same
@@intergalacticbnb Thank you
I am so late to this 😂😂 appreciate the video beautiful 🌱
merci je vais tester les deux!!!
Your from an island close too mine 🇩🇲🇩🇲
Yes I am :) xx
Omg! I've never met anybody else who knows about Dominica outside of my family lol. I was born in the USA but my mom and all 4of her siblings were raised in Dominica from young ages (half of them were born in Trinidad)
Great video, I really enjoyed it. TFS🙌
Thanks Jamie ! xxx

your accent 😍😍😘
It's fake. Just like s'him pretending to be a real woman.
great definition with no products
Very useful!
I cant see any difference. very nice
Rhassoul has more volume and your curls look better.
You could mix both clays half and half
I could actually! Never thought of that! Good idea :)
great video
the moroccan Rhassoul better people in morocco use it for long ago
Hi love! Miss you! 🌸💐🌸💐🌸💐🌸💐🌸💐🌸💐😘😘😘
Liubilu my love ! Miss you too xxx
your curls are more define on the ghassoul part to me
You have gorgeous bone structure.
Ty & You are adorable.
Thank you :)
Omg love your accent where are you from?
Good vid
the left side looks a lot curlier.
Can I use just regular vinegar or it's has to be the apple cider vinegar .
JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH IsTheKING
It has to be acv
DeepThink no it doesn't it even says on the container you can use on or the other or both
You're not supposed to cleanse every week.
Good husband lol
merci pour cette video but please, watch your accent because sometimes it is hard to understand you.
your reviews are very useful, love them
cool
I don t see any difference
Are you French?
What do these Clays do besides cleanse? Do they elongate or define curls indefinitely ?
DeepThink yes
DeepThink I had to make a rinse with flaxseed gel to keep my hair clumped
April Miller
so if I do this often I should see an elongation or stretch of my curls overtime?
kkibela
Thanks! How often do you use the clay?
DeepThink I started out once a fortnight but depending now on hiw I feel..if its longer I make.more of a thick goop but if its like a week inbetween I make a more watery mixture...I just discovered that 1/2 acv and water ph balances my hair and makes it smooth but the water is horrid in my area XD so its makes my hair dry again XD...
