I just saw a RUclips short from Insta360. Shaun White said it's going to be a game changer. A couple of scuba divers said they will show us how to use it underwater. I wonder if they figured out how to make it record under water properly without an "invisible" dive case. That could be interesting. The way it's sounding, it's going to be a pretty big upgrade. We'll see. I won't get too excited yet, lol.
Still very exciting just to see what they come up with. I'll be watching live Tuesday morning. Might livestream myself as I watch it, if there's interest.
I'd be interested to know exactly what the reframed product really is. Seems higher than 1080, but you're right. Hopefully it can get higher in this one. Kinda like advertising a steak in a restaurant. Always using the pre-cooked weight.
I could. Never have. A 360 camera loses a lot of it's appeal with a chest harness. Basically you'd be missing half the experience because one lens would see nothing but your shirt.
its waterproof, thats probably x4. 8k 30 would be the max I assume. Heat is a huge issue. I am sure they will do 5.7k at higher frames, like maybe 48, maybe not even 60fps. Hopefully they get 8k in both 360 lines at least. the x4 probably will not make the best use of 8k if the sensor is small. I seriously doubt the One inch version is ready just yet. Maybe later in the year.
I wonder if the issue of being able to have replaceable glass domes is for being able to keep it completely water proof. That may be why they can't do it. Just a guess though.
The X3 only came out a year and a half ago. It has not been that long which is why I'll be surprised if it's an X4. Maybe it's more of a refresher and even though it will be called an X4 it will be more like an X3.5? It seems there won't be much for upgrades other than resolution and frame rate. But we will see. I probably won't go for the upgrade as I think the X3 is still a great camera.
Agreed. They will have to REALLY show me something huge to get me to upgrade. The X3 is so awesome and I'm so sad I have to take time to send it in for repairs.

[someone pointed out that tiny planet shot looked 3/4 planet & the Eclipse promo pic is not in "totality", together suggesting this is not a full 🌐360° FOV but instead a "panorama 360" (top & bottom cutt off) or a 270° camera instead of 🌐360° FOV] And from the PROMO video, we know it is "8K", "More Pixels", "More Frames". (but no talk of pixel size [i.e. sensor size]) The promo with the still picture "New Moon" aka "Eclipse" sort of implies low light capability, therefore LARGE sensor with LARGE pixels and large $999 price $599, If it is priced between X3 & RS One 1-inch, then it is likely a lame 8K (unless they also radically drop the RS One 1-inch below the new 8K) $599 if it is a marketing ploy and is tiny sensor with MORE tiny pixels, and "More Frames" = 120p at 4k, 60p at 6K and 30p at 8K; then maybe I will only buy one and then wait for the QooCam Ultra $999, If it is a better quality output camera than the RS One 1-inch (and the X3 and RS 1-inch prices stay about the same, then the new 8K will be about $999. $999 will be a good price for me as long as the specs far exceed the RS 1-inch. $999, if it is 8K (7680 x 3840), 60p (at 8k), 1.06 to 1.12 inch sensors (~4192x~4192 each, or higher) --- I will buy two ASAP $1999 (haha) if it is 8k with dual 1.3 inch ("square" ~micro-4/3) sensors (haha) for reference see Insta3360 Tittan = $14,999 with Eight Micro-4/3 sensors lenses for 3D 🌐360° FOV [and the Insta360 Pro II Spherical = $4,999] The only unknown is the sensor/pixel size. I think for thhe discounts to be had on the X3 in the coming months it's more cost effective. To me, the novelty wore off in the X2 so it's going to take more than AI and supposed 8k to get me going. I am more apt to wait for the Canon 360 to 180 vr unit as it will have twin 1 inch sensors. And maybe, just maybe Qoocam will do something with the ultra that is actually worth while. ALL the videos I have seen thus far all show major artifacting which we saw in the 3/2/1 RS. So of course it's happening here with this weak sensor and poor low light. Just wish more would point this out. I guess when people get free stuff they lose all their sense.

RAW photos or video out of camera. Their AI changes shit drastically. 3. Lens guards? Really? LOL 4. Low light capabilities? No sensor changes, no change in low light. Even the flag ship sucks in this regard. And I don't mean the 13k ones, I mean the prosumer 1RS. Insta360 has a history of disappointing buyers. The Ace Pro sucks, all of the x series sucks, and while I want them to change, I don't see this happening here. People need to hold them accountable for the shit they push. for me the 360 cameras are nearly unusable due to forcing me to use their online stuff. file management is broke it for me. it could be just me though.

X3 gives approx 1080p when reframed. The X4 may achieve 1440p. Better, but not really sensational.

Videos been out of the unboxing. It's the same old X3 with more resolution from the same sensor. AT LEASST if the unboxing is real. More of the same.

It wasn't sure when I posted this whether the sensor would be updated or not. Seems not, so seems like a very small incremental change with the X4.

It definitely isn't perfect, but it is getting better. I hear some big updates to the Insta360 studio are coming, too. Not sure what, yet, though.
