It really is undeniable that the cyberpunk genre takes a worst-case-scenario vision of a capitalistic society into the far future. It's the inevitable direction the world will take if the wealth gap between the working class and the capitalist class continues to increase, along with the trust in institutional authority. As the structure and mechanics of capitalism is innately designed that way. The most frightening part is that worldwide change and revolution would only be increasingly difficult the more institutional authorities attain such technology to sustain the status quo with tools and methods not otherwise possible today. I love the cyberpunk genre of any form of media because it is so interesting to discover the theoretical futures. But I would never want to live that far in the future.

What i love about CD PRoject RED working on cyberpunk 2077 is that fact alone that their not trying to make it their own Vision and 'Brand' that a lot of companies do when they make a game based off a Book or Board Game. (Minus METRO) That they ACTUALLY have the guy who MADE the game work with the company, explaining how the world works, what should be there and what shouldn't. yes it would. but that also would be true if that damned ea didn't ruin and close visceral games, and had let them develop the star wars game the way they wanted
the way mike pondsmith describes the [porbably] pre-alpha footage he was shown is basically the same as how it was described by reviewers " visually terrific with [proper hardware] but buggy and glitchy". makes me wonder what the focus was for 2 years.
Pondsmith is a freaking legend and visionary. Crazy thing about him despite all the amazing ideas in his head he really is down to earth and a humble guy. Really. He is just that badass.
I did not imagine this guy would be so immersed in gaming culture. Like he can recognize the importance of having a trailer with only in-game footage. Dude seems really down to earth and cool! Way better than the og Witcher author.
God i loved the hell outta the bladerunner game. I just love that settiing. Plus the witcher 3 is my all time favorite game. Cd project red are about to kick the game industry in the ass Cyberpunk . I can feel it. I can't wait and im so happy CD Project Red are making this. The only damn AAA dev company that gives you your moneys worth. True Passion in what they create. You can feel it when you play the witcher 3. Imagine how Cyberpunk is gonna be. All the journalists that got to see this game in action said they was blown the fuck away. Fucking a i can't express into words how excited i am.
Travinator imo The Witcher 3 is what happen when a game dev passion is not making the most profit but just love doing what they do which is making a good game..this is what happen when game dev is not too pressured into releasing games to chase profit...i hope CDPR grows and keep their true nature of making good games
@@theboxface6796 I agree with you, I really like the game, and having played Bathesda games at launch as well I am used to some bugs. The real issue I think is they overpromised so people who have been keeping up with the games development over the years are underwhelmed, disappointed by all the promised features and content that didnt make the cut. Then add the bugs being experienced and you get some very upset people missing out on what is a really good game because it didnt meet their expectations.
@@theboxface6796 Yeah. I came in with 0 expectations. I did watch some of the trailers and pre-release materials, but came in with a go-with-the-flow attitude. I love it. I love it to bits and bytes.
Mike Pondsmith's creation and increasing hype reminds me of how John Romero approached Warren Spector to do his masterpiece into a video game and ended up being "Deus Ex." A game that 19 years ago truly introduced me to what is cyberpunk and the main reason I am hyped to this game. Also can't help it but compare both upbringings of both franchises and how similar they started and how far they have gone!
When Mike said he seen in game footage I laughed so hard because I actually own the game and let me tell you it didn’t look to sharp I found myself waiting for the next cinematic cutscene or A Jonny cutscene when they weren’t being glitchy instead of enjoying the full game. I could literally see the potential in this game cdpr came so close, I feel like the lore and world around cyberpunk is better then the actual game.
Met the R.Talsorian crew at GenCon when the Witcher TTRPG dropped. I was in full Witcher cosplay so it really iced the cake that year. They do absolutely stunning work, and I am absolutely riveted with excitement for Cyberpunk!
The game will be first-person perspective only. They already said it. If you're disappointed by it, then be it. They won't make such a major change for such a small reason. Anyways mods for 3rd person perspective will soon land after the release. So everyone chill dafak out.
I know this comment wont ever see a single like or enny but, cyberpunk 2077 was like a big ass order at a fancy restaurant that got really messed up but the waitresses and cooks apologized for it and made it again, for us, the customers. And to that I raise my controller to CD Projekt RED... The whole time I never knew I wanted a game like this so badly, and yet after seeing the trailers and the promo stuff like the rockstar energy sponsored drinks, it made me hyped. All in all, great experience but is still being worked on. CD Projekt RED if you guys see this, please keep being honest and hard working, show these other companies how to be a great software company without the BS
When the results look the same as they did in the creators head you know it's done right. This is how you make a game and work together. All the lore, immersion, interactiveness, details, etc is amazingly done and so clean with the game not even finished. Can't wait, this is definitely a game to have

Awesome dude. So refreshing from Andrzej Sapkowski who was a total ass to cdpr. I do still respect him for enabling the greatest game of all time though of course.
I’m really thankful that this is being made and the team seems so passionate and dedicated to making this great. Looks like more care has gone into crafting this world than has been given to all of the games combined in the past year

I've been patiently waiting since 2013.....
I'm surprised nobody has cared to take Hardwired to the big screen. It'd make a hell of a movie.
Guys, imagine if CD Projekt Red created an open world star wars game, that would be so f-ing epic.
That's for another company
yes it would. but that also would be true if that damned ea didn't ruin and close visceral games, and had let them develop the star wars game the way they wanted
Or a The Witcher open world game.
dodo2208 oof... youve got beef with Rian XD
Alex Fischer TBH that's the reason I even mentioned this. Why is EA such a bad company
Very happy with the first person perspective. Reminds of Deus Ex. Third person would be too GTA'ish.
Possibly. And no VR in 3'd person (or with a puke bucket nearby).
And would shatter immersion
Deus ex is a reason why I am hyped for this.
the way mike pondsmith describes the [porbably] pre-alpha footage he was shown is basically the same as how it was described by reviewers " visually terrific with [proper hardware] but buggy and glitchy". makes me wonder what the focus was for 2 years.
Mike should absolutely voice a character in the game, man what a voice!
He does
Man... I haven't played Cyberpunk 2020 since the 90's. Mike and Gary(Gygax) have always my favorite PnP RPG writers. So stoked to play 2077 next year.
Pondsmith is a freaking legend and visionary. Crazy thing about him despite all the amazing ideas in his head he really is down to earth and a humble guy. Really. He is just that badass.
This guy wrote my favourite rpg of all time. HE IS AWESOME.
I am totally stoked for this release.
So hype i grew up waiting for this game 6 years in the making and im ready
I did not imagine this guy would be so immersed in gaming culture. Like he can recognize the importance of having a trailer with only in-game footage. Dude seems really down to earth and cool! Way better than the og Witcher author.
i hope mike pondsmith does some voice acting in the game. with his awesome voice he should be a radio host or something
UGGHHHH the more I hear the more I get hyped! Absolutely cannot wait to hear more, it seems like everything just makes me like it more and more
The sketch of the rockerboy had a Dead Kennedys pin. Thats awesome
Games are an art form ( question me at your discretion) that is meant for the few and the brave in my opinion.
i wonder how he feels about the backlash the game got :/
"some glitches"
oh boy.
This video did not age well...
I hope Mike has a small voice acting bit in the game like an easter egg or something, that voice is incredible
This games gonna be incredible and regarded as one of the greatest if not the greatest game of this generation I’m calling it now
Heh
I've waited more than twenty years for this game... i can wait for it to be done right.
Sarthak Vinchurkar They said there would be plenty of chances to see your character in 3rd persion perspective too, like driving car, cutscenes, etc.
Dao Gia Vy Booty shots😌
the game is meant to be played in first-person, the graphical fidelity is high enough to make it that more immersive.
So, more or less like Deus Ex?
Well your in a futuristic oppressed world that is trying to kill you. A perspective of a “eye” level of visibility will add to the realism
Cyberpunk 2020 was my first TableTop game, I am so excited for this game!
Can't wait, this is definitely a game to have
Good thing they ironed out those glitches for launch
11:30 lmfao "So is this, so this is almost kind of I guess you could almost call it a prequel to..." That reporter is embarrassed af!
Thumbs up If you played the cyberpunk pen and paper game. It rocked.
On a technical level, Cyberpunk is a wild west of bugs and other issues. Design and story wise, I believe they captured Pondsmith's vision.
Reminds of Ghost In The Shell but less confusing
Great interview, so nice that Mike is involved and they respect him, can't wait for this game!
I could listen to him talk all night lol. Soothing voice
I legit got an advert during this video... for cyberpunk 2077. And its the first time ive not skipped a youtube advert, not even kidding. I think im obsessed?
He looks like a black George Lucas
TheRuthlesshobbit he practically is. Except he hasn’t made any “Jar Jar Decisions” yet
@@YLS8763 And let's hope it stays that way
**Wop wop there comes Disney**
I hope they give him a cameo in game, dude's got a great voice.
this game could leak 6 months early and everyone would still buy the collectors edition cdprojkt has tons of clout
No cash tho
I've been playing Cyberpunk 2020 for almost 30 years. I can't wait for 2077 to launch.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
I am simply in awe......no other way to describe what I'm feeling.........Awe
Awesome dude. So refreshing from Andrzej Sapkowski who was a total ass to cdpr. I do still respect him for enabling the greatest game of all time though of course.
I’m really thankful that this is being made and the team seems so passionate and dedicated to making this great. Looks like more care has gone into crafting this world than has been given to all of the games combined in the past year
More games need to be adaptations of books and table top RPGs, is what CDPR is teaching me. 😋
Whata cute emoji 😋
Baldur's Gate 3 will be an adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition
@@augustokonrad3572 Yeah, it's the first big game we're getting set in 5e. I'm pretty excited.
I love this guy so much. Can't wait to play and replay (x50) Cyberpunk 2077 to find every single thing they're putting in it
I can't wait for this game to come out. I'm going to use every one of my vacation days at work lol
Very cool Mike, this pushed me over the threshold of doubt and into a GOG preorder of CP2077
Def reminds me of Mega City 1/ judge dredd. Ghost in the shell/Akira.. fukk I can't wait
Oh man I can’t wait for this game
Is anyone else getting some Dexter DeShawn vibes from this dude? He's so chill
When he talked about the rocker boy class, I'm thinking.... "A bard but with an awesome technological twist.."
Shutup and take my money!!!
Shutup and take my eddies!*
I love this game!! I started playing it in 1987 and cannot wait for the videogame!
well I guess it's too late for us to hit the emergency breaks on this hype train. THE HYPE IS REAL
The breaks fell off ages ago. Hold on and enjoy the ride.
I don't care if i have to wait 5 years or another 5 years for the release of this Man's work, I will be patience for the first time in my life just to see this Man's work in perfection
So 5 years later, did your patience pay off? 😂
@@dimitarapostolov9788 I still dont have the game :D
Oh wow is not the reaction i had more like " I'm not going to cry this game is going to be a straight masterpiece"
"How do people live day to day?" That is an impossible question because we are all changing all the time, nonstop. These guys have the best vision and most up to date answer to this question. This game is gonna be so good.
The comments in this video did not age well
I have a lot of respect for CDPR. I've literally only played the Witcher 3 from their games and have more confidence in them to make an amazing piece of art than any other games company. EA and other games studios nead to take a leaf out of their book and listen and communicate with consumers to the extent that CDPR have.
EA doesn't care about the gamer experience. It just cared about money
