Pre-disco Bee Gees are some of my favorite musical memories. I was about 10 when this song was released and played on the radio I had begun to notice girls and began wonder about romantic things. I was, and have been for 55 years, completely entranced every time I (have) heard it.
The Bee Gees older songs are the best in my opinion
The BeeGees album with this song is one of the best
A couple of years ago, with both of his brothers gone, Barry Gibb found a project to re-record some of his favorite Bee Gees songs, but tive them a country twang. So he went to Nashville and recorded an album with some of Country music's biggest stars and most accomplished studio musicians. The result was an album called Greenfields, and it's worth a listen whether you ever do a reaction video to it or not. "Words" was always my favorite Bee Gees song, as it just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. And you're right the boys (and their two musician friends who helped them perform the song live) looked young...because they were young. We're talking 1968 here. But when Barry recorded "Words" for the Greenfields album, he chose Country legend Dolly Parton to record it with. And the result was pure magic. Here is a behind-the-scenes peek at the process: ruclips.net/video/IQ-QZebow5Q/видео.html
Sounds like a marvelous record.
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 Their 60's greatest hits album is one of the greatest albums.
The other two were band members. Robin on piano, Maurice in the green on guitar and Barry leading.
Loved this era of the Bee Gees career. Wonderful music. Have you listened to "Massachusetts" or "Gotta Get a Message To You"? Disco and beyond era is of course great too. Thanks for this. Baby Gees, lol!
honestly from the beginning these brothers could do no wrong !! ♥♥ Suggestion The Bee Gees I've Gotta Get a Message To You 1968 and The Bee Gees - To Love Somebody (1967)
I absolutely love the old Bee Gees before the disco days. They made some gorgeous music and this is one of my favorites. If you search on RUclips you can find some really old videos of them when they were, literally, children. They started very young. Great choice Jayy 🌺✌️
My favorite BeeGees song, sung by my favorite BeeGee,Barry. ❤
The other two guys in the band were guitarist Vince Melouney and drummer Colin Peterson. They came over with the Gibbs when they moved from Australia to the UK to advance their career and make it in Swinging London. They had a series of big hits in the late 60s before fame and internal problems broke up the band in 1969. The three brothers re-formed the band in1970 with just themselves - any other musicians from then on were hired hands.
From 1967 up to 1969, two Australian-fellows were member of the band. Vince Melouney on leadguitar and Colin Petersen on drums. Check'em out with a track called 'Idea'.
Barry’s brothers are Robin at the piano, and Maurice in the green jacket. The others were brought in to make more of a group or band.
My husband is a very quiet man..but says So much. Great wedding song ❤
Love the bee gees they have great music
*This was before he knew he could really hit those high notes. It wasn't until their song "Too Much Heaven" where they were doing some kind of backing vocals that he really got his voice up there (shocked himself) and then they went back and did the song again with him hitting those high notes.*
One of my all time fav of theres
To love somebody 1967 version is amazing xx
Yes Barry Gibb looks very young and without beard. One of the great groups .
barry gibb my eternal love
Fun fact Baby Bee Gees - Barry and Robin were married at this time, Maurice married one year later!😁
It's nice to see a young person exploring the early BeeGees ~ as per your reaction ~ for a long time there were two other guys in the band ~ as well as the 3 Brothers Gibb ~while 'First of May'is one of my favorites 'Spicks & Specks' was their first & worth a listen
@Jayy- The very early BEEGees and Words is one of my favs from them. The other two in this video was Robin and Maurice.
It does my heart good to watch you enjoy this wonderful music that I grew up on, Jayy.
Takes me back to my school days, loved this one and 1st of May.
Barry looks like a baby!
This was out when I was just a kid and I am 70 if that gives any idea how long ago this was.
This was 1967, of course they were young
Elvis sings this song that is The Bee Gees and it is wow
The Bee-Gees had a multi part career. First as a 60s pop band. In the 70s they adapted their style to fit the disco and dance music.
I recommend more of The Beegees as a common one to check out. Very rich in talent and catchy tunes.
To Love Somebody and I Started a Joke are two good ones from this time period. I Started A Joke was Robin's signature song. His gorgeous voice shines in that one. In To Love Somebody, Mo hits some high falsetto notes near the end. They all could sing falsetto very well.
Love this song. Maybe my favourite of theirs
The Brothers Gibb created some of the most beautiful and melodic songs, long before the Saturday Night Fever disco explosion swamped their oeuvre of hits.
This is one of their great songs from the mid sixties. Unfortunately their great music from this period didn't catch on. It wasn't until their disco music came out in the late 70's that people all over the world noticed how great they were. I like their early songs like Words a lot more.
They had several big hits from 4:33 '67-'69. "New York Mining Disaster, 1941", "To Love Somebody", "Massachusetts", "Holiday", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You" and "I Started A Joke" were all huge hits. They slumped in the early to mid-70s, and the late 70s was their comeback.
Brothers!
Great song, dig their early stuff very much.
Didn't anyone know there would be a red background? I guess Robin (on piano) didn't get the memo. 😄
👌💪💪
Are you telling me, you haven't heard Elvis's cover? Who woulda thunk it? 😂
Baby Gees 😂 ❤️
You need to listen to my favorite Bee Gees song, Lonely Dsys Loney Nights.
Brothers
He was really nice looking.
Robin and Maurice, his brothers Andy Gibb wasn't even born yet He of course went solo Sadly all dead but the oldest Barry
Of course Andy was already born when they were on Ed Sullivan. This is from March 17, 1968. Andy was born March 5, 1958!!!
@@jayeginn5963 On here, the Ed Sullivan Show, Robin and Maurice would have been 19years old and Barry 22 years old.
@@jayeginn5963 geez ok. No need to get upset 😬
Not a big BeeGee fan. I remember them from the 60's (I'm probably older than most of your audience) and was never fond of them.
