Appreciate this video so much. I myself am using Michael Thomas currently the Spanish, mandarin and Arabic courses and I really do love them so much it’s like a miracle how good they are, however I am also supplementing with other sources too, and also practicing with natives is the real secret sauce that way they can can correct you. In regards to your audio depending one which software you use you need to make sure to EQ the audio that way your dialog sits in the center channel of the audio and the music sits behind it. In audio there is something called your center channel and this is where your speaking voice lives so if you have your voice and the music both playing on the center channel then they phase each other out. When you EQ it what you are doing is bringing down the music track by bringing down the center point thus giving most of the space to the vocals. This is a different process then simply lowing the volume on the music track like you did here. Simply look up EQ vocals over background music and something should pop up if not I can make a video for you quickly showing you how to do this. It’s very easy and creates very professional results.
