We'll visit Falkirk, Scotland on our way from Glasgow to Pitlochry. The town is a hub for history, recreation and good fun. For history buffs, you've got the Battle of Falkirk, Calender House Estate, the Roughcastle Fort, Blackness Castle, and the Antonine Wall. Recreational activities include the Bo'Ness railway, and Motor Museum, the Mariner Leisure Center, the Air Thrill Adventure Park, Go Karts, Canal Boats, Bowling, Cinemas, Escape Rooms, and Distilleries.
The main attractions are the Falkirk Wheel, an engineering marvel that melds art and architecture to create a moving sculpture that serves to lift boats 30 meters up to connect the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal, completing a fully navigable waterway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Kelpies is a 30 meter metal sculpture that mystically appears across the landscape paying homage to the work horses that used to carry barges up the river. But they are also a reference to the mythical shape-shifting sea creatures that would look to humans like white or grey horses beckoning them to come for a ride and taking them to their death in the sea.
