I painted my 57ft boat last year & this works fantastic! EXCEPT, you MUST use a small foam gloss roller (cheapo from B&Q) I started with a mohair roller & ended up sanding it all off as it left loads & loads of tiny fluff all over it! Lift the paint with an expensive brush like a Purdy. A 4" brush is easier to control. Everywhere I go people think it is a new boat or I have had it painted professionally. If weather is hot, only paint about 1metre at a time
thanks for the valuable demo , i will be using that exelent tecnique next week [once the sandings done] many thanks and wish me luck lol thanks again lee
Wow, that's inspiring! I'm thinking about getting a narrowboat but the costs of fixing it up are a bit daunting. If I can do it myself though, that's a different matter. Thanks for the video.
Bought a Parrot (roller that is) about £13......not cheap!! washed it white spirit, dried it ....you name it, etc etc just could not get no fluff!! Maybe I was too fussy!!.....The method worked very well though Patrick, MANY THANKS
Que trabalho maravilhoso este seu!!! Parabéns!!! Pode me dizer qual o segredo? Tento com o pincel encharcado de tinner mas sempre fica com traços do pincel. Um abraço
IN the US you can find quality oil based marine paint. Off hand I can think of Interlux Yacht Enamel and Rustoleum Marine Enamel. These are both oil based with the Rustoleum being a very good paint for the money.
@bargiepat hi thanks for the info would you beleve it ive got a boat at cowroast merenah , tring and theres a boat shop there and thay sell toplac there lol but when you strike the paint with the brush is the brush dipped in thinners to get the smoth affect or is it a dry brush??? this is the last piece of the puzzle and then ime set =) so plese help and many thanks already =) also the boat is called nudge nudge it was in the canal boat magazine not long ago lol

Agreed with everyone else - great technique.
That definitely answers my question. I'm priming my boat, and I was hoping I could get away with just one coat. Obviously not.
Wow that brush realy does the trick.
