I don't agree bro. It took him 10sec to do that synth, and with perfect sound design. With the RC505 it would have taken him like 45 seconds and the sound quality would not have been the same. Also the amp on the Line 6 is nothing compared to the RC505 alone. Just compare his routines (for example World Championship) with and without the Line 6, the quality is not the same. Loved the video! And it is a good conversation to have about where the limit with these second devices is and the mistake SBX made is not making the line clear enough of what is and isn't accepted. It's difficult to find the limit however when beatboxing is forever changing. I feel like both the loopstation and solo/tag team beatboxing has been adapting over the years where musicality is becoming a much more important factor in both rather than mainly being judged on skill/difficulty etc. You see this in beatboxers like Codfish winning which you probably wouldn't have seen7/8 years ago. Change is good but what needs to settled before a competition like this in the future is the boundaries of acceptance so there is no confusion like this between judges and viewers alike.
I really like your videos. Until now, GBB loopstation battle was just a super cool competition for me. But you've been there live, and you tell about your experiences as a loop and the audience. It's really fun to watch your videos
17:54 yes it is factual that nme did the same routine in last year's gbb but the problem was he failed that time and decided to idk "forfeit" maybe giving balance the win. i think he just wanted to redeem himself and show everyone he can actually do the routine on the gbb stage.
I have a little bit of that feeling too. In the very beggining, loopstation was certainly very related to beatbox, because there was a limited use of effects. But overtime the category is moving further away from the beatbox. On the other hand, it is also certain that being a good beatboxer helps a lot for you to be a good looper, so loopstation is still beatbox related. Saro, rythmind, mb14 and brez are good examples of this. But I love loopstation anyway.
It is complicated to understand this opinion of the judges about the overuse of the second device, but having, who organized the event, allowed the use of the second device. Sensational your opinion about this battle and explained a little my frustration of not seeing the inkie winning this round
Yeh, beatbox allows creativity which unfortunately adds complexities to the judging, so it can be a tricky situation to decide. Is Alexinho coming on stage or D-low for Saro and Balance ok? there may be nothing in the rules against it but what would the reaction be if the opponent brings someone else to rap, how to decide the limit. Was it ok for rythmind to use the metronome in his final round and although it came from the RC 505, it was for a significant amount of time and a main part of the beat. Hope those things get clarified more clearly for the next battles.
i think that slapping the mic with the hand is also „cheating“ but im not sure. the „imagine that“ drop from balance with dlow is not allowed like saro and alexinho did with the mj drop, idk if its actually cheating or not but yea noone knows the rules are so werid in some situations.
@@demibasan1714 The hand beating isnt cheating, it was generated from the hand hitting the mic. A example you could of given, would of been So-So's static inputs by removing the mic from the loopstation and staticly adding the sounds xd
@@rubensantos7925 i think brezs comment on the original comment is the best way to describe it, „rules are not clear enough“. brez is none of my fav loopers but i think he is one the best to understand the complicated art and the ruleset. the fucking rules are just not clear enough i swear.
Brez, big ups...I've watched a number of your performances in the various battle competitions and I can say (hopefully humorously!) you come across as a way nicer guy than your competing beatbox counter-part!! @@vedantgupta5490 for the nme vs brez match i agree both were really good even tho i had my vote with Brez, but i didnt enjoy his inkie battle at all tbh
It’s like everyone except Rhythmind got robbed when battling against NME. In my opinion, BREZ you beat NME in quarters and Inkie beat NME in semi’s by a mile ... I feel like you and Inkie deserve more.
18:27 Finally. Someone. SOMEONE SAID IT !!! Also, I feel Brez's channel is so original and underrated. First of all, he's an EXPERT in what he describes and reacts to. Second, his reactions are legit and are not forced just for views, even for the thumbnails. He keeps it all simple and describes the whole video, and that's what is needed for knowing more about the artform itself bro. (And yes I'm a fanboi so don't come here thinking to debate on who's the best reaction channel)
Thanks for this reaction, you convinced me. I think a second device should be allowed, but the rules have to be clear and should be accepted (even by the judges) 😉
Imo nme's second round was really good, I can't really see the mistake he made, maybe I just need to listen to a better version or something but I really liked it. Inkie did a great job in creating the dark vibe and atmosphere, they are both great loopers and I'd like to hear more from them.
Watching this back in 2022, personally, I like the way the looping scene has evolved. Yes I do admit it's lost some of the "beatbox" aspect of it all, but for me looping was always meant to be about the music first and foremost. If I wanted only beatbox skills, I'd watch solo (which I do also). But to me looping by its very nature was bound to evolve at some point or another in a similar way. Saro gbb 2017 for me kinda broke the barrier of what styles could be done in a loop station battle. And gbb 2018 personally seemed like a down year or a buffer year (not to say it was bad, just relative to 2017 for me the level was down overall.) Then 2019 gbb, we had people like rythmind evolving further what could be done on the rc505 only. And OFC you have inkie, imo the reason so many loopers today are using a second device. Seeing all the possibilities it adds musically, was for me, on par with the level of influence as someone like Saro had with bring electronic style beats and what not. And now that I think about it, before Saro, there was Thorsen and before him was Penkyx (there could be more but I really only found the beatbox scene in 2016-2017) but to me the top 3 people who had the biggest impact and change on the scene were 1. Saro 2. Inkie 3. Rythmind
My take on this is if swissbeatbox allows it then the judges need to accept that. It's not for the judges to decide to remove someone because they have an opinion of the rules. They judge on performances. He didn't break a set rule. It's not on swissbeatbox its on the judges.
Wow, what you said at the end about sbx and the judges was such an unfortunate thing that happened . I had no idea. Oh well, I guess looping and looping battles are all still new right? So there's bound to be some mistakes along the way. Hope you're doing well Brez! 😊❤️
I am on the beardyman side of everything is from the mouth no samples part. Any sound crafting goes, no matter how it is achieved. But any input used must be done live. And if no mic was used it has to sound completely silent. Inkie's method qualifies for that in my opinion.
That's cool! But I Will add that you can achieve infinite sustain with 100% feedback on any delay, especially in helix it could be transformed into a big amount of variations of waveforms. about his "human" voice is extra device just like so-so when he having fun with cabel and iyt wasnt his woice imo
Trust he sounds so different
That's cabel sound and not a part of human body tho 😂
Inkie had by far the best drop in gbb 2019. Especially with the hardcore drum in base.
Which one
Yeah drum and bass is the best
Love seeing you reacting to GBB keep it going 🔥🔥
i thought i was the only one who think that loopstation battles are not beatbox
I have a little bit of that feeling too. In the very beggining, loopstation was certainly very related to beatbox, because there was a limited use of effects. But overtime the category is moving further away from the beatbox. On the other hand, it is also certain that being a good beatboxer helps a lot for you to be a good looper, so loopstation is still beatbox related. Saro, rythmind, mb14 and brez are good examples of this. But I love loopstation anyway.
Especially with 2nd device. I hope I make a vid on this soon
It’s just kinda live production of music lmao
Brilliant video and insight on this battle 🔥
Love you bro
So objective and true, that's why I love you so much.
Vey good video man
There is no exit from my void....
Ayyye brez your face during inkies 2nd round was priceless.....You should do more of these opinion vids
I was feeling it ! :D
We could def tell...
I love your reactions and giving opinions. Love from Indonesia
The dark vibe in the second round by inkie its amazing..
Can't wait for your video on second devices. :)
They need cameras on the Loopstation so that just the judges can see the techniques being used by the looper
Rules are not clear enough !
i think that slapping the mic with the hand is also „cheating“ but im not sure. the „imagine that“ drop from balance with dlow is not allowed like saro and alexinho did with the mj drop, idk if its actually cheating or not but yea noone knows the rules are so werid in some situations.
@@demibasan1714 The hand beating isnt cheating, it was generated from the hand hitting the mic. A example you could of given, would of been So-So's static inputs by removing the mic from the loopstation and staticly adding the sounds xd
@@rubensantos7925 i think brezs comment on the original comment is the best way to describe it, „rules are not clear enough“. brez is none of my fav loopers but i think he is one the best to understand the complicated art and the ruleset. the fucking rules are just not clear enough i swear.
dude .. I like " ambition " with saro... it's amazing... love you from egypt 🤍
I agree with you on NME's second round the beat being off just didn't sit well with me
Brez, big ups...I've watched a number of your performances in the various battle competitions and I can say (hopefully humorously!) you come across as a way nicer guy than your competing beatbox counter-part!! You have a fair amount of swagger, rude-boy edge and stage presence for someone so eloquently spoken, articulate; intelligent and decent haha, almost as though they're at odds....I suppose it's whatever it takes to win the battle right?! Keep up the good work, your English is excellent and I enjoy the dive/analysis into the videos you study/critique. Plus the humour on the parodies! One love from Australia :D
great vid brez keep it up homie much love!
Now I understand why NMe won. Like don't get me wrong, NME was sick as well, but Inkie was almost literally out of the world. I always thought Inkie won, now I know why the decision was made 5 out of 5, either way, hopefully both Inkie and NME come back next year. Hey Brez, good video, brother!!
i always had an issue with this battle thanks for explaining it
Lets go. I love your opinion, thats so interesting
Bro ur match with frosty online loopstation was op and I enjoyed ur music and it was different love from India bro love u❤️❤️🔥
Finally someone said that. The beat is of. I love NME, he is creative as hell but he makes mistakes. Anyway this battle was a top one. Inkie - much respect to you bro.. you're the music
Great video Brez, I hope you do more like this in the future!
NME always wins when he shouldn't.. your battle vs him is another great example of robbery
It was really close !
More factual words have never been spoken tbh
nope it comes down to the taste of music both were equally good
@@vedantgupta5490 for the nme vs brez match i agree both were really good even tho i had my vote with Brez, but i didnt enjoy his inkie battle at all tbh
@@vedantgupta5490 taste of music? In judging? No? That's called being biased. BreZ was just better
Man I love ur videos !!
I can't wait for another your video reaction. :)
It’s like everyone except Rhythmind got robbed when battling against NME. In my opinion, BREZ you beat NME in quarters and Inkie beat NME in semi’s by a mile ... I feel like you and Inkie deserve more.
same!
If they let him on stage with it, they can’t penalise him for using it.
THIS VIDEO WAS NEEDED IN MY LIFE LOL
thanks for this video,Brez
Big up!
Inkie first round gaved ME Goosebumps to my legs.
Thanks for this reaction, you convinced me. I think a second device should be allowed, but the rules have to be clear and should be accepted (even by the judges) 😉
Don't allow the devices or allow them and don't punish for using them.
And now that I think about it, before Saro, there was Thorsen and before him was Penkyx (there could be more but I really only found the beatbox scene in 2016-2017) but to me the top 3 people who had the biggest impact and change on the scene were
1. Saro
2. Inkie
3. Rythmind
Would be dope to see your opinion on Tioneb beating Robin in GBB 2017, that was pretty questionable imo
FUN FACT : If you write fun fact in comments everyone will read the full comment 🧐
Fun fact: for me it says this video is 10 hours old and your comment was a day ago
Fun fact : your comment is 2 days old but the video was uploaded 18 hours ago
Everyone saying no to this comment are lying
Sick reaction champ! 🔥
we need more of thisss, yeahhhhh
My take on this is if swissbeatbox allows it then the judges need to accept that. It's not for the judges to decide to remove someone because they have an opinion of the rules. They judge on performances. He didn't break a set rule. It's not on swissbeatbox its on the judges.
Let’s gooooooooooo. I’m ready B!!!!!
Wow, what you said at the end about sbx and the judges was such an unfortunate thing that happened . I had no idea. Oh well, I guess looping and looping battles are all still new right? So there's bound to be some mistakes along the way. Hope you're doing well Brez! 😊❤️
Love from germany Brez!👻
I am on the beardyman side of everything is from the mouth no samples part. Any sound crafting goes, no matter how it is achieved. But any input used must be done live. And if no mic was used it has to sound completely silent. Inkie's method qualifies for that in my opinion.
