Soso's music isn't for everyone. Some like it, and some don't.

“Music” might be a stretch. What he does is certainly entertaining, but it bares very little resemblance to music. 🙂

I feel like soso's style is like that super energetic hard exaggerated noises but he fits them in well. That's why that last drop hit so well with the crowd and some of the judges because that is Soso you know. His over exaggeration in loudness is kinda his style. Also like in the first round against beatness the exaggeration of the distortion but it works for him.

So-So’s last round with Inkie still blows my mind to this day. This set with Rythmind was definitely the roughest. Props on So-So for at least trying to bring something to the table against the great Rhythmind

I think So-So played it well. Using his strongest routines against a defending Champion to make a name of himself. Doesn't matter if he lose his other 2 battles, he already made an impression on everyone and for me that's a win.

that was the point, he used his aces immediately to make sure he was heard. If he didn't, nobody would hear his bangers. For his first ever year, it wasn't about winning, it was about getting his name out there. now people know his style and his potential, and they loved him too - you see his 7 to smoke?

I actually really enjoyed so-so's second round, although there were definitely some mistakes with timing and some mixing. A lot of it comes down to taste, really. If he can improve his drums and mixing then he's definitely world champion material from an objective standpoint (the same can be said for so many loopers though, really hyped for next world champs!)

The first problem of So-So is he doesn't make an introduction stage of the round like his rival, Rythmind makes an melodic introduction before the drops.
The second, the japanoise can't support the hype of the people after the start, and he make mistakes.

So-so’s second round would’ve hit the moon if he had added bass to that drop! He DID add bass on his Spotify upload, but he must’ve not realized that during his gbb round. Big ups to him, the drop was still sick tho !!

I agree with you. It is fine to have a bit of a longer buildup but you have to give the crowd something reasonably interesting to listen to while you do it. The only exception to that is if the sounds you are building up are interesting and you can do it quickly. A good example of this is Inkie performing "strange" in 2018. SO-SO has really good sound design and some of his drops are insanely hard but he lacks structure and flow imo. I hope that makes sense.
The issue with SO-SO is that his rounds in my opinion were a little bit off time and his snares are too quiet. That could have made a difference if he fixed those
SOSO's creativity is off the charts, Rythmind is still one of my favourite but I just enjoy what creativity and unexpected beats and loops he(SOSO) brings.

Mon Ranking des rounds de Rythmind en 2019: (Je met pas Still car c'est un cover)
1) Headshot (Round désormais culte même NME ne peut plus faire son premier round sans que le public ne cri "Headshot" haha, clairement ma préféré quand j'ai entendu le premier drop avec un son de charley ouvert tellement propre ça m'a impressionné en tant que batteur! On aurait dit une vrai batterie je pensais pas ça possible de faire un son pareil en beatbox! C'est là que je me suis dis "nan mais là Rythmind c'est forcément un batteur" je me posais déjà la question sur les autres rounds car ses rythmes étaient tellement propres et effectivement c'était bien le cas.
Ensuite le second drop qui est juste mon préféré de toute la compét!)
2) Smash Mic (Alors ce round m'a vraiment marqué un de mes préférés du gbb 2019! Première fois que je découvrais Rythmind et je pensais qu'il ne passerait pas Balance et bah quelle claque il m'a mise avec ce premier round! Il est devenu mon looper préféré instant du gbb.
Le rythme clean et cette snare de fou, sa voix, et le drop super puissant! Il a vraiment fait le meilleur choix en commençant la compétition par ce round.)
3) Last Round (Parfait comme dernier round! Même si c'était pour Beatness à la base comme tu le disais, ambiance triste qui colle avec le sujet de la mort et le heartbeat c'était juste une idée de génie! Surtout quand t'as le rythme qui rentre en même temps. Ça me fait toujours autant bouger la tête!)
4) Drums (Pour le coup moi je suis pas super fan de la voix robotique mais tout le reste est parfait, ça reste un super round énergique et bien construit!)
5) Scared By Me (J'aime bien l'ambiance assez dark mais un peu trop long le début j'ai trouvé et au moment de la transition au drop pareil, le drop final était super original par contre.
Round plutôt calme par rapport au reste, j'apprécie l'écouter quand même.)

For me Soso Genre is like a 8-Bit sounds with different variety of effects. But then again Soso Has a Unique style of sounds and there's an slightly needs to improve to him but again he's so great then. 😊❤️

no I totally agree with you. I literally don't understand what So-So is trying to do. I didn't enjoy so-so's track either [at all], because it's sharp, blaring. I kinda felt bad for So-So since everyone had high expectations for him after his rounds against Beatness, only to landslide lose two consecutive rounds, so I rewatched and tried my best to find silver linings, and I came to the same conclusion as you did - the crowd at least seems to enjoy the "bad" music.

Personally I love this battle, and it is obvious that Rythmind won. But I really love SoSo's second round, idk, i personally don't find it as headache inducing or painful as many. I feel that after all this time since GBB 2019 we forget that SoSo's style was very new to the GBB scene and his sounds/drops where things no one had really heard before on that high level of a stage. And that in the moment, everyone could mostly think "WTF IS GOING ON, HOW TF IS HE DOING THAT". Now, it was still an obvious win for Rythmind, butIi think less and less credit is being given to SoSo as we continue on that i feel is entirely unfair.
Just my opinion though.
SOSO has such an amazing personality, I completely understand why some people don’t like him and prefer Rythmind as soso is different but im here for it! Both super talented

Idk if you'll see this since its 4 months late but i really really enjoyed both of soso's round. Rythminds were way better in my opinion but i did really enjoy soso's round! Great reaction though!
SO-SO does a lot of music that is straight out of the Japanese EDM scene, with like speedcore and some of their J-Core type stuff with these off beats and crazy high pitch sounds. It's fairly niche, and likely sounds insane to the crowd which is why they had those kinds of reactions, but it may not sound great to most normal listeners. Rhythmind's performances are very methodical and well executed, though. In terms of cleanliness, clarity, and structure, he had it by a long shot. That second round was unbeatable. Only other round close to that in my opinions was Inkie's second drop vs. SO-SO in small final. Crazy house beat.
I thought I was the only one that thought this an soso's rounds but tbh soso's last drop was not all that bad but the execution of it was pretty bad and build up the transitions soso has alot of potential

I felt the same as you. SOSO seems to have good energy, but his music is definitely an acquired taste. This was however, one of the best performances I've seen from Rythmind. Even how the crowd reacted and that pit thing that did. I also agree that they missed the drop. That really through me off the first time I watched that. That aside, perfection on his part.

tbh I think SoSo was kind off lost in second round and it was like having fun with some improvization , but still it was a good battle!
His beats was very strange and difficult to do from another looper, and soso was unique he played the loop for fun and the music was like an alarm, even though it was far from musicality taste but i know what soso meant hehehehe
