I live on the outskirts of a old town. I was digging for my garden plot a few years ago, i found while digging old bottles up and some medicine, beer and some beautiful jars, i kept digging until i hit what was hard like cement, i got a big piece out and it had a design around it, in curiosity i kept digging more pieces up, then i found a sole to an old shoe and a piece of what looked like pants, it was tattered, but it definitely was clothing, i think it might have been someones resting place, so i put it all back and covered it up, it was down about 4 feet or 5... crazy, i still live here and it is right in front of my driveway when i pull in...

My uncle had been renting out over 12 acres of land to a man with some cows for well over 15 years. When he died the land was sold and the new owner wanted a few trees cut and the stumps removed so he could plant for winter hay. Upon removing stumps...the men kept hitting chunks of slabs and there was writing on them. Work was stopped...a crew was brought in by the state...Bingo...a very old cemetery from the early 1800's. Nunhead Cemetery, Linden Grove,London, SE153LP Perhaps the least known, but most attractive, of the great Victorian Cemeteries of London. Consecrated in 1840, it is one of the seven great Victorian cemeteries established in a ring around the outskirts of London. It contains examples of the magnificent monuments erected in memory of the most eminent citizens of the day, which contrast sharply with the small, simple headstones marking common, or public, burials. It’s formal avenue of towering limes and the Gothic gloom of the original Victorian planting gives way to paths which recall the country lanes of a bygone era.

i too am facinated with really old graves. even as a child i liked to see which is the oldest one i could find. i have NEVER heard of this cemetery, thank you Chris for showing us this place. it is sad how they are virtually on top of one another, and some right on the track you need to walk on, but like you said... in a few years no one will even know the graves are there. so sad
So very sad. Wish someone would clean it up!!! I love old cemeteries. RIP to all
Can you imagine what a midnight walk thru that cemetery would be like?? Its a creepy old burial ground but its fascinating, too. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, Chris! Dont linger too long by any one grave...💀
Miss alot of your in the UK! Because I didn't have your 2nd channel !
Caught up now ! Love to go back in the UK!
It is seem strange they don't keep up old cemetery !
I love this chap thanks for coming to England
That place looks like a movie set. Wow. It's beautiful.
There are actual old cemeteries that do have graves randomly placed. Eventually, they became more organized as you see today.
I think it’s beautiful just like it is! Very old and very historical! ❤️😎🤩
I have never tried it but was once told if you spread corn meal on the headstone it will help bring out the writing so you can read it better.
This is what would have happened to Highgate if the volunteers hadn't stepped in to cut the foliage back and carry out repairs.
Hi Chris, I would say that one area is kept up while other is lost in the undergrowth is because the newer area brings in money while the older graves don't.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤
Yes, I agree Sue
They're all old.
So Beautiful when Nature Reclaims these Cemeteries. but.... Monsanto/Round-Up needs to sponsor a mass clean up !
Yes really interesting and thanks for sharing.
Looks like a movie set...that is sad but hauntingly beautiful.
It’s so sad to see cemeteries get forgotten about like this 😢
So much to see in the UK Chris.....you need to move here for a year or two💪👍🇬🇧
All I can say is thank God for weirdos like you, Chris! Otherwise, we'd not know about some of these fascinating places - both here and around the world! Thanks for another great video!
This is a well known location.
That is so sad it's such a lonely sad place

Christopher Instinct ladies and gentlemen 👏
"Show me your cemetery and I'll tell you the character of your community..."
I did a guided tour of Nunhead cematary, it is beautifal , nature has taken over a lot of it , but that what makes it unique.
Looks so cool. Like out of a movie. Great video

Great video.
Thanks Chris enjoyed it as always
What a cool place to explore!!
There’s a few cemeteries I Jackson county ky that are in the woods and so overgrown you wouldn’t know a cemetery was there if you didn’t know it was there. You would need a 4 wheeler to get to a couple. One of them is a good hike for sure. It’s sad. Those people were loved at one time.
There is one semetery in the Netherlands, Deventer, a good ten minutes walk from the central station. Cuz the village was growing they had to stop using the graveyard in 1814. You can visit it for free every day at long at it is daytime.
So incredibly beautiful. 💗🌿
Very interesting, amazing how nature eventually takes back everything. It's doesn't matter if your a Prince or a street sweeper eventually everyone dances with the grim reaper.
