@@munroboice1542 I'm with you, I'm79 and my thought is the kids are not taught respect and self worth anymore. It's all a game. But I'd guarantee if someone did this to anything thing or place of theirs they would crap.
Do you think Mr. David Abercrombie ever imaged his mansion would end up in this state after his passing? Its sad that people have destroyed something that he probably cherished. I can't imagine how many nights they spent up top just watching the sunset.
I'll never understand some people's urge to vandalize and spray graffiti . Some of the craftsmen and the original owner that built that place would shed some tears to see it today . The sad end to a vision and dream come true .
Unemployed, uneducated with the "If I can't have it, no one else can" attitude. Look at the demographics in Westchester and that will provide most of the answers to your questions.
Humans are weird. Some want to create and build, some want to tear it all down. It's like an endless cycle keeping everything balanced. Imagine how much better these videos would be though if no one vandalized these places and we trust got to see a look into the past.
Oh, my gosh -- I LOVE this! I've always loved restoring old buildings/homes, etc and bringing life back into them. This structure could TOTALLY be restored and lived in, again (with as much of the woodwork, beams, metal steps and stone as possible kept intact) -- if a person with the needed resources was behind it. What's its current status, if you know? Is it for sale?
Thank you for showing us this beautiful place! I love history and I am also an artist, it's upsetting to see graffiti everywhere, I understand the art behind it but I think somewhere like this should be preserved so people could see what is left of it's true beauty..
Never seen it before . That's because " Mobile Instinct " is my explorer channel . You don't clammer or sensationalize . You tell the story as you go . Don't ever change .
Amazing place and would be nice if it could be renovated and brought back to life. Have seen so many buildings like this that are left to rot away as no one wants to spend the money to restore buildings like this. I do wish that vandals would stop defacing walls and rendering a building like this to trash and have no respect for someones else property. Its been abandoned for reasons and its for others to visit and wonder at the immense structure and imagine what it looked like in its hay day and not to be destroyed. Thanks for sharing!
You know that's really quite a place. The craftsmanship was outstanding. To bad the vandals took it over throughout the years. Their name is well known to this day. Thanks for the tour, Mike
When I retire in a few short years I want to do what you are doing and travel the country seeing places like this. Truly enjoy your videos and the history you share.
When the video first started I thought you may have been at the Overlook Hotel Ruins in Woodstock, NY. That's another one that's amazing to see, it's on a heavily trafficked hiking trail/access road. It's worth the hike though to see it. Thank you for sharing this though, it's always amazing to see how people once lived in such extravagance.
Oh, I don't know. I don't think it's that bad. I've seen gutted castles restored. Brick and stone walled buildings usually retain their structural soundness even after a fire consumes the wood parts. It looks like there is still a good portion of meat there. If someone could get a grant from a govt. historic agency, it might be doable. I grant you I haven't seen it firsthand, but it's way too epic to see a wrecking ball. Anyhow, great vid!
Hi Chris, I have seen this before when Exploring with Josh was there, it really is a gorgeous place or at least was. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤
That was so fun getting to see inside and all the different rooms and levels and staircases. The view at the top was beautiful. I agree with you all windows up there enclosed would be best. The beams and arched doorways and arched windows throughout and in the great room were lovely. Beautiful stone everywhere. Thank you for taking everyone with you on this tour.
Its absolutely amazing 🌟😍 The history is fascinating! Once again, the graffiti has ruined the spectacular charm of the stonework and ornate beauty of this castle!
That was really great. I have seen some other times where people I follow have come there. I like seeing different shots and hearing different twists on stories with twists on facts. You do a awesome job.
5 stories, I have handful abandoned channels I follow, never seen it, that is so cool, one of your best videos, picnic area outside, died 64 years old, excellent filiming, hear a girl voice in background, no wonder not scared, but not even haunted, surprised cool beans, train was haunted.
I never heard tell of this place, but i thoroughly enjoyed the tour. What a complete shame...i'll be this was a BEAUTIFUL place at one time. Thanks for the upload! Good job!
Could not do the mattress challenge, but thank you for showing this amazing place. I love that you have photos of the castle in its prime. It adds so much to what we see now.
It’s always sad to see a place that was so spectacular that has fallen into such a state of disrepair, I always ask myself why? Why wasn’t it saved before it’s too late.
I want to thank you for doing everything you do to make us feel like we are right beside you going to these different places. You are definitely a incredible person. I love your channels
I've seen 1 other vid on this place. I don't remember who was doing it but the vid is surely less than 10 yrs old. It still looked pretty nice then. Amazing how much it has gone down and been vandalized since then. ☹️
I'm glad you were able to get there. Because Unfortunately this Castle is no longer with us🥺 On a side note, that stairway going up to the top of the castle scared the hell out of me when I went lol
@@LeaveNoTrashBehind unfortunately yes. It's burnt down about a week ago or so. I went once but really wanted to go back a few weeks ago, I should have, that place was magnificent. Nice video Thank you! You should check out Turner Falls in Oklahoma. There is huge, abandoned castle with a kind of mysterious past. Some people say there was some crazy things going on there.
I was there 3 years ago. It was harder to get into at the time because the neighbors were watching the place and chasing people away. There wasn't as much graffiti esp. in that study with the wood walls. It's totally destroyed now. Sad.
@@rsuriyop They were close enough to know what was going on. I didn't have an issue because we parked in the woods and hiked to it. Some people actually parked in the driveway that led to the house. Those were usually the ones getting caught. Unfortunately, the place was set on fire a month or two ago. I think all that is left are the stone walls.
Such a shame that people damage such places rather than just let everyone enjoy them.
Makes you wonder what respect they have for anything.
I was just sitting here trying to understand what's the allure to spray painting graffiti.... I just dont get it
What a travesty. Such a beautiful piece of architecture absolutely disrespected by a bunch of human trash.
I'm 75 and still cannot comprehend the mental -midgetry that must constitute a vandal's thot processes
