Peter Hook is the perfect example of a guy who’s not the most technically proficient bass player. But he’s so catchy and unique sounding he’s in the top 5 all time bassists in any genre. You can hear that melody and chorus pedal bass and you instantly you it’s him. Before you know it you’re already bobbing your head to the rhythm and melodies from Hooky. Such an apt last name for him. I only listened to NO for him and him alone.
LMAO not because this is one of the most brilliant band of all time.
I didnt realize till later that Peter Hooks bass playing was my favorite part of NEW Order's music until I would turn up certain songs just to hear his bass lines and melodies and particularly on This Song it IS Very Beautiful !!! ;)

What a Fine Time it was back in the Technique & Substance days. These guys were new and fresh in the 80s, I danced and rocked out to many of their songs in dance clubs and concerts. Their stuff still rocks steady in 2024!

Agreed. this album is PERFECT. Not 0ne bad track. Not many albums are perfect. In fact I have a list of 5 PERFECT albums: New Order - Technique. Depeche Mode- Violator. Oasis - Morning Glory. Rolling Stones - Stick Fingers. Led Zepellin - 4.

I cycled home after footy practice to watch this, pretty sure it was a Sunday. Such a shame they never toured this LP in the UK
I saw this tickets were free but you had to go to the box office the week before, when I got there they had all gone, but I got one for £5 on the night off a Rasta. They set up a couple of stages, this one faced towards the main Academy stage which wasn't used. There was a young guy that introduced the band to the left, he looked a bit like Terence Trent Darby and he had to record the intro before the band and every time he started his intro we all shouted F**ck Off! until he begged us to give him a break and we let him do it. I was in front of Hookey and there was a camera man right next to us in the middle of the mosh pit. I could see sweat was pouring down the camera mans face, you can see at 3.34 that when they switched back to him for the chorus of Vanishing Point he could hardly keep his camera still as we were bouncing around so much. Apparently according to Neworderonline the master tape for this is lost so sadly it may not turn up on the Technique definitive edition DVD so thanks for posting

I agree. Of course all we know what means the bass at New Order songs, but here it sounds like a wasp. Dont like that much. It is the poor recording, probably.
