Yeah and with the price of print-to-order SLA being what it is these days, even ordering a custom fan duct online would probably be about the same price as buying those chunks of PVC bullshit. You just have to actually have a decent 3D model of your system and an idea of how to model that ductwork.
@@scottwatrous All you need is some callipers to measure out the space you can work with and then model within that. you dont need the entire system, tough if you do measure that all out, build planning becomes a lot more fun. you can pretty much avoid supports/hassle when printing with the fan mount facing down

Jay, you should add a regular Chassis fan to the side of the case against where the tube goes. That way you can see if just an extra case fan helping funnel to the reference blower would drop the temps further too.

Beat ya to it... 2 years ago :) With 3ds Max and an FDM printer though. Rather than cut on your case though, it works a lot better with the vent by your IO panel (i think those are for lock systems, like when a school chains the tower to a desk, not sure but thats what ive seen them used for), rather than cutting a hole in your door. Cools just as good, leaves you with more room for water lines, and looks way more professional. Oh I did a little one for my M.2 as well. Got a 40mm brushless fan with a DROK DC buck voltage regulator to control speed, made a duct that blows over heatsinks that are adhered with thermal adhesive pads onto the spreader shield, and had it suck air in from the remaining area of the vent near the IO. It significantly increased the time that you can run an M.2 full tilt before it thermal throttles itself. Which in the case of large data transfers or heavy games like star citizen, made a notable difference in time to load.
You can cool the card by using colder air. Just put a cover with a hole on your window, get a flex pipe down to your case and enjoy free cold air - works best if you live up North or during the Winter. Just don’t forget about a mesh to keep bugs and other animals outside of fan blades.
It could also be used in cold climates during winter. You just get a long flex tube, attach one end to the PC pipe and the other end outside during winter. That will get your temps down.
I remember that around 2005, that kind of mod was so common for CPU coolers that it went mainstream. I got an old Compaq computer from that era that has a cone that goes from the downdraft CPU cooler to the side panel.
Jay, that PVC is all solid plastic. You can take a handheld angle grinder with a low-grit sanding wheel, and trim down the diameter of the reducer that's covering the blower. It'll be rough but it'll work for what you need.
there were lots of case manufacturers which had cases with air induct like this(mostly in 2000-2010)...i had several chieftec cases during years, still have one huge atx case left somewhere in my carage...

You can make the cut edge look fancier if you just take a length (π * diameter of the hole) of cable or tube and cut one side open & use that as a grommet.
It's OK to choke a little the air entrance because there is still enough space for the air to flow and at the end of the day, when air expands after being compressed, as a gas, it cools up... that's why when you blow air with your mouth to cool food or your body, the air is cooler than your body temperature :)
